Sienna seemed to take the information in stride, piecing together the person what was Avik in her mind. It wasn’t surprising that Avik had chosen not to elaborate on her home life or how it had affected her. As she had told Lucius before, Avik avoided connection with anyone on the ship, including her. “Considering that she seems to be getting worse, perhaps you were doing something to help her on your ship before she came here that I could use? Or did you have something in mind?”

“I was still trying to figure it out before she transferred. Most the time, I had to trap her and hope she would address them,” Lucius placed his tea down, his hands folded into his lap.

His expression took on a sheepish tone as he explained.

“One example was that I had to trap her in a holodeck with her CO. They were clashing over one mission incident and a decision he made bothered her. Naturally, she didn’t share why and he didn’t understand the reason it affected her so deeply. I had hoped they would work it out, but neither one was willing to approach the other,” he went on.

“Right now, I feel it’s best to address her current reason for withdrawing. With the crack, we can slowly begin to peel away that fear and hopefully show her how to accept her emotions.”

His thoughts went back to the earlier scene with Avik.

“Earlier today, I mentioned a report over a mission that resulted in the away team being trapped. When Officer Zorell’s name came up, Avik bolted like a rabbit and I doubt I’ll see her again. I suspect Zorell’s emotions might’ve rattled Avik.”

His fingers tapped his thigh before he concluded, “Trapping those two in a single spot might allow them to work out their differences or at least clear the air. I hope Zorell will approach the topic first rather than let the moment slip by.”

Sienna sipped her tea, contemplating this idea. In the long run, such a tactic being used regularly could cause trauma and claustrophobia which could be significantly dangerous on a star ship. However, a short term run of this tactic could get their leg in the door of getting Avik to start participating in her life rather than becoming a recluse who provides by the book support to the Captain. If they wanted someone who would regurgitate a computer’s analysis of a situation and recommended action, they would just have a computer there. The Captain wanted an analytical approach, but with instinct and judgement… something a computer could not necessarily provide. And how too was Avik to garner the trust and respect of her crew if she could not come to terms with herself as a person. They would see the chiseled armor of a Vulcan who shies from who she is and turns inward and find no trust to be had.

“Hmmm. So perhaps a team building exercise on the holodeck? An Away mission where they must be on a roundabout for several days?”

Lucius bit his lip. His hand rolled his cup in his hand then considered her suggestion, debating on the value. After a moment he nodded and let a smile creep along his lips.

“That sounds like it might work if Avik and Zorell could end up alone. I fear if Avik has an audience, it might press her to keep up her mask and we’re right back where we started. A wasted chance to open her up,” He sighed, recalling her days as a Chief Medical officer.

“Well then, I will put my mind to the task. I think there are some away missions that could be finagled to cover our needs. I wonder if I should speak to the Captain about this unusual method? I am sure he would back me if I find the right away mission.”

Nox, CNS

“I think it might be a good idea. I don’t know your Captain, but if he is anything like mine… he wouldn’t appreciate the setup attempt without prior warning,” Lucius stated as he finished off his tea, then stood upright.

Inwardly, he debated leaving or not. It seemed Nox had already done the bulk of the work and all that was left was to carry it out, a task he couldn’t join in on. He found himself pleased by the Counselor’s observation skills and willingness to help. It gave him hope that Avik would be alright.

“I suppose I should conclude this meeting and not take more of your time. Unless you need me to accompany you to convince the Captain?”

She smiled and stood, stepping back to be polite and give extra room. Considering his offer, she had to admit it might be nice to have another advocate present. However, Johann wasn’t unreasonable and the nuances of the fact his girlfriend would be involved in this might better be discussed by him and herself without another present. She couldn’t believe she was acting like him having a girlfriend was normal and she would have allowed herself a bodily shiver if she did not have company. “I think I will be able to convince the Captain without too much difficulty. I know him well enough to know what is likely best to work and having someone he is a stranger to speaking to him might complicate it too much. It is better to keep it simple and straight forward. He appreciates that approach.”

“I appreciate the offer though… and that you took the time out to see how Avik was doing and speak to me. I must admit I was spinning my wheels concerning her. This has helped immensely. She has a good friend in you.”

Nox, CNS

“Yes, and I believe she knows that. Else she wouldn’t tolerate my shenanigans,” Lucius mused for a moment then let a small smile spread on his lips.

She answered his smile with one of her own. Shenanigans indeed.

He bowed his head then took his leave, wishing the Counselor good luck.

After he left, she gazed off into nothing for a while, letting her mind soak in the conversation without actively trying to memorize it. She let her thoughts drift and memories settle where they might. Then, she tapped her comm badge. =/\= Computer, Location of Captain Dvorak=/\=
