Avik tapped her fingers against the edge. Her bottom lip bit down and seemed to struggle with her, finally deciding on a course of action. She pulled up an email. A few quick taps began to write out a massage to her brother’s mate. A realization washed over the XO that she missed him and he wouldn’t say no to a visit, especially when they often spent his birthday together. With a final sign off, she hit entered then waited for the data packet to send off.

–XO, Avik, Lt. Cmdr

Avik had shifted from her uniform into casual wear. She wore a simple, flowery one piece dress with a dark colored choker. The end of the dress covered about the middle of her thighs giving her some appropriate modesty and downplaying her stiff nature at the same time. It was not completely attention drawing, but held its own unique appeal to her. Her figure paused in the mirror to adjust her collar and straighten it several times. She wasn’t fully sure if it was out of nervousness or desire to Cassandra’s approval that she did it. Feeling finally satisfied with her appearance, the XO nodded and exited her quarters.

As she walked down the corridor, her eyes noticed most the crew were off on their shore leave. Each one certainly deserved it as she mentally reflected on the missions prior and their effort put forth. At first, she questioned Dvorak’s ability to lead since it was so different than what she knew. Gradually she found her opinions altered into something positive.

Her figure walked at her normal crisp movements, edging closer to the station’s entrance. As she arrived, two security officers noticed and stepped to the side. Both obvious recognized her, but she caught the small second glances at her appearance. Few had actually seen her outside her expected uniform.

“As you were,” Avik stated, giving them a slight reminder they were on duty.

She paused at the entrance then inhaled and walked through.

Va’rek was a way further inside the entrance to the station. He wore a simple brown tunic over black pants and boots and wore his hair short and in a military fashion. His hair and eyes were dark, and his skin rather pale, but he was tall and solidly built, despite appearing just a bit lanky. He’d passed down the corridor a few moments before Avik and was only slightly ahead of her. He hadn’t been aboard Europa for very long, and therefore wouldn’t be a familiar figure to her… However, even from the back, it’d be difficult to mistake him for anything other than a Vulcan.

He was moving at a slower pace, apparently in no hurry to be anywhere in particular. His hands were clasped behind his back, and he appeared to be deep in thought as he walked.

-Va’rek, Eng

Avik tilted her head, noting Va’rek in front of her. She assumed he was taking shore leave with numerous other crew members and paid his presence little mind. It wasn’t her business to nose in it. Upon spotting her brother on the docks, she smiled and walked toward him. He shared expected traits with herself, from the butter cream colored skin to the dark hair and eyes. His hair was longer than she recalled.

She had been about to approach him when Kekec stepped away from Cassandra and walked toward Va’rek.

“It’s nice to see you out of the shipyards. Are you a part of the Europa crew or traveling on it to another destination?” Kekec asked, his voice kind and warm
