“I have been known to make mistakes, but I would have to have be drinking Romulan Ale to mis-read this data.” He stepped away from his console giving the Captain free reign to look at the scans himself. “We can wait til he/she’s alone and beam him back… if the transporter will work with this .. radi… ation…”

Marsh

Would the transporter work? That’s a question he had no idea as to the answer to, and he wasn’t able to tell from looking at Marsh’s scans. But the Chief Engineer ought to be able to know or find out.

“Sullivan?”

– Johann Dvorak, CO

Mattie was looking at the scans that Marsh had taken and double checked the system to ensure that it was working properly “Captain, to the best of my knowledge and based on the results of the system scans. There is indeed one human on the surface. It will take me several minutes to calibrate the transporter beam to cut through the radiation or try to cut through the radiation.” She said as she spun to the second console next to her and began working on the transporters “It will have to be a very narrow band…and I can’t guaruntee success.” She said glancing up at Johann.

Maybe the transporter is a bad idea… Johann thought.

“I wonder if this isn’t the origin of that unknown alien flu virus that Crewman whatshisnamr came down with earlier?” Zeke wondered aloud. “Taylor. That’s it.”

The whole situation screamed at her, with alarms ringing in her head. Cassidy understood that they were waltzing into a situation that had all kinds of unknown danger and she had to take a moment to breathe and make sure she was focused on the situation. “We could always try and send a probe to see if we can get clearer readings from the surface,=/\= Abrams suggested.

Abrams, COS

“As long as they don’t see the probe,” Zeke said. “They’re still a pre-warp society, am I right?”

CMO

“They are barely at metal tools. We’d have to drop the probe on them for them to see it. On the other hand if we let the sun bounce off of it they might think is a sign from the ‘gods’ so lets not do that.

Marsh

“If you feel confident in your ability to avoid that, by all means launch a probe,” the Captain said.

As the ship continued to get closer to the planet, additional readings became available. The human, was identified as male, and the sensors were able to pinpoint him to a 3 square km area on the southern continent. The nearest indigenous people to the area were over 10 km away. The terrain was heavily forested and had rolling mountains with several areas sporadically peaking higher. Scanners also picked up, although the readings were distorted, what appeared to be the remains of several Alpha quadrant species, to include Klingon, Vulcan, humans and many others. A closer scan of the area would be required to get more information.

Mattie continued her work with the new information that was coming across her screen “This seems very odd to me.” She said as she worked

“Geez,” Cassidy muttered. “It’s like an Alpha and Beta Quadrant summit down there. I’m running deeper scans to see if we can isolate our Human and see what else and who else is down there,” she said as her fingers danced over her console. “But it does seem that the Human male is far enough away from the indigenous population that we could risk a beam up if it proves safe on the other fronts.”

Abrams, COS

“What makes you believe that, Lieutenant Drake?” Avik asked for clarification.

“I’m just playing a little hunch,” Zeke replied.

The officer had been onboard and afflicted before they arrived. It was unrealistic for the patient to become inflicted through contact or air from anyone on the planet.

When Abrams suggested a probe, her head turned to the CoS. Of course Drake agreed, but Marsh made a fair point. Bizarre things were often depicted as divine acts.

Once she heard the new information relayed, her head nodded.

“It seems there’s evidence to state we’re not the only ones that made it this far. My main concern is the radiation influence over the transporters,” Avik looked at the CE.

She hoped the woman would answer the CO’s question shortly. Avik’s attention returned to Abrams.

“Could your team contain the individual should he prove to be dangerous? We don’t have enough information and bring a dangerous individual into a confined space… never ends well.”

–XO, Avik, Lt. Cmdr

Cassidy nodded. “We can be prepared. Having them brought directly to Sickbay would be the most prudent, as he can be sedated if he proves to be a danger.” Not the way she’d opt to go, but if all else failed, it would do.

Abrams, COS

Mattie looked up “I can get a solid lock on the human and can beam him directly to sickbay with forcefields in place.” She said “Just say the word.”

CE

“Sickbay. Or maybe the Brig would be a better idea?” Zeke said.

“I’m not convinced it’s actually a good idea to beam whoever he is up,” the Captain finally said aloud. “It’s utterly bizarre that they’re here and it’s even more disturbing that there are dead bodies that are not indigenous to this space present with him. It may make more sense to send a team down to evaluate.”

“Plus it’s just kind of rude to transport someone without notice,” Johann offered idly. “Do we know if there’s anyway that we could communicate with this person before doing anything? I mean… just because they’re on a planet with a primitive society doesn’t mean that they are actually primitive themselves. Maybe they’ve got some means of answering hails?”

He looked at Abrams. “Try hailing and see what happens.” He figured it wouldn’t work, but he wasn’t about to beam some random guy up to his ship without knowing more.

– Johann Dvorak, CO

“If the nearest locals are ten kilometers away, we can simply send down a team apprehend him,” Zeke said.
