Marsh took his head out of the door and slapped the side of the shuttle repeatedly, “Come on, come on… the meter is running.”

Zeke went aboard the shuttle. He took a seat behind the pilots. “The Sickbay will be prepped and ready to receive traumatic radiation poison patients,” he said. “I also brought some extra rad treatment meds. And I got a refill on my 20 ounce cup of coffee! All set.”

Marsh bounced to his seat and started the ship in motion before he even got settled. He spun the shuttle and was heading out the bay. Marsh was almost as good of a pilot as a helmsman although he probably was a little more reckless then he should have been. He was moving the shuttle at full power until he hit the atmosphere, where he settled the shuttle into full re-entry speed only slowing down when he reached the designated landing zone.

Cassidy almost didn’t even notice his zippy flying since she was so caught up in running through scenarios to help her best figure out their next steps. But it was pointless. Until they got down there and into at least the stratosphere, they weren’t going to get solid enough readings to plan for anything. “Hey, easy now,” she said softly to Marsh. “A couple extra minutes isn’t going to hurt.” Secretly though, she appreciated his hast, even if they needed to go cautiously under they had a fuller understanding of the T.A.M crew’s situation.

“You actually have no way of knowing that.” Marsh said and while his speed wasn’t completely dictated by his concern, since they had taken weeks to get here and a few minutes were extremely unlikely to have any impact. He wasn’t about to go slow, because if he were waiting for a rescue even one second was a lifetime of worry. “I’ll keep her within safety limits.”

But as the surface came into view, the sensor readings began to clear up. Abrams exhaled loudly. “I’ve got one hundred and forty-seven lifesigns, twenty degrees to starboard, exactly where you guessed.” She couldn’t help but smile. At least they had confirmed there was a rescue component to their mission.

Abrams, COS

“As if there was any doubt.” Marsh said confidently now that he knew that there were survivors. He looked at the comms, at this range they should be able to break through any interference and reach even portable communication devices. “Go ahead, you can do the honors.”
