Zeke entered the shuttle. Aside from his medical tricorder he had a sealed container of coffee with him. He took a seat in one of the chairs behind the pilot stations. “All set here,” he reported. “I’ve got the Sickbay on stand by. Just in case.”

Hearing Zeke, Avik turned from the pilot and looked into the CMO’s direction. She acknowledged his whereabouts with a nod. Now they just had to wait for the CoS to arrive. Avik continued to puzzle over the skeletons and their reason for being there. Unfortunately, no clear answers came to her mind. Only theories.

She finished up with the pilot as she sat down, strapping herself in for the flight.

Abrams arrived a moment later and stowed some gear in the back: pattern enhancers (a recurring theme with the presence of radiation) and some extra science gear in case she needed to do double duty. She was armed, as per away mission protocol, but she had stowed a phaser rifle, just in case. Was that excessive? Possibly. But given the high level of unknowns, she wasn’t about to have them completely at the mercy of any dangerous elements that may or may not be present.

Cassidy slipped into the co-pilot’s seat. “Pre-checks have cycled through. We look good to go,” she said.

SNIP the commentary

With her fingers dancing across the screen. =/\=Bridge, this is Runabout Elysium. Pre-flights are done and we’re ready for take off. Waiting for the all-clear.=/\=

Abrams, COS

Outside of the shuttle, the two-tone decompression alarm began sounding. Then the forcefield snapped on and bathed the room and everything in it with a blue glow, as the shuttle bay door lumbered open slowly.

=/\= You’re clear to launch, Elysium, =/\= came the Captain’s voice over the shuttle’s comm system.

– Johann Dvorak, CO

=/\=Acknowledged, Bridge.=/\= She left the comm line open as the captain had instructed.

Cassidy started up the engine and when given the thumbs-up form the bay crew, she piloted the shuttle through the shuttlebay doors, leaving the relative safety fo the Europa behind. She banked them slightly to starboard and entered in a flight path to lead them over the location where the mixture of lifesigns were, careful to avoid going anywhere near the indigenous population.

“We’re heading in. I’m doing my best to make sure that the locals don’t see us. Once we hit the stratosphere, we should hopefully have better sensor readings, but let me know if you want to land. Otherwise we can hover over an area to get our bearing better,” Abrams said.

“I’m anxious to meet whomever our mysterious researcher is,” Zeke said. “I want to review his notes and procedures.”

OCC: I’m sorry, time is getting away from me.

IC: The shuttle trip to the surface was simple and easy. As they entered the atmosphere, the sensors got worse for a time, but as they got lower they improved. Most of the radiation was concentrated in the upper atmosphere. As they cleared the clouds they saw a vast plain with scattering of hills and small mountains. The area was heavily forested and a dense fog seemed to roll over the ground. Off in the distance, a thunderstorm was moving fast away from them, indicating that the area just received rain.
There were random pockets of open space, big enough for the shuttle to land in. The sensors showed that the graveyard was about 100 meters north of a landing zone. The human, however was harder to locate. He seemed to be in group of small mountains about 3 KM north east of the graveyard. However, either the sensor were having still having issues, or this human learned to teleport because he was moving much faster then a human normally would. The sensors showed him moving at a rate of about 100 km an hour, but appearing and disappearing in different spots along the range.

As the pre-flight procedures ended, Avik finished strapping herself into her seat. She doubt checked it as she looked toward the front. Her eyes watched space change into the atmosphere as they descended into the clouds. The landscape of such a flight never ceased to stop amazing her.

Her admiration for the journey was disrupted when Abrams spoke. Avik zeroed her attention right on the woman then looked to the sensors. Her head tilted back in confusion as she relayed what they were telling her.

“I’ve located the human at a small group of mountains about 3 KM northeast of the graveyard. However, he’s moving at an inhuman rate. About 100 KM an hour as if he’s teleporting. I’m scanning for any signs of a transport or outside source causing it,” Avik stated as she typed in the additional orders for the sensors.

She wasn’t sure about the connection between the graveyard and the individual. Investigating either one might reveal answers. She recalled her orders and decided to gain opinions from her current team.

“We have two options. We can investigate the graveyard or we can go after the individual. The latter option is going to be the hardest unless he stops at some point. Right now, we don’t have answers on how or if the two are connected. What is both of your opinions on which we should go after first?” Avik asked, guess which one they might suggest.

–XO, Avik, Lt. Cmdr

Zeke took a drink from his coffee. “He’s got a vehicle,” he assumed. “The graveyard isn’t moving. As a doctor, I’d like to check that out first.”
