“Ah.” She said smiling. “Well, be glad that things that are wildly popular back home are not necessarily my cup of tea. Otherwise, your privacy would be significantly less in my presence. It was actually a struggle when I was a teenager, to reign in those impulses in the Academy. I made many people angry before I was able to control myself better. And when I went home during a school break, my parents had conniptions.”

Nox, CNS

“Oh? That sounds like a fun story, or three” he said, smiling. “Passing teenage love notes to cute boys, mentally? Unable to control your burning passions? That kind of thing?”

Hmm, how I can I work ‘impulses’, in there? he thought, this time not intending the thought as a message. That wouldn’t have stopped Nox from hearing it.

She pressed her lips together before giving him a sly smile and chose not to acknowledge his unintended mental message. “More like hearing people’s secret thoughts about me or others and then blurting it out because I think its incredulous or mean and I didn’t hold back my opinions very well. Tact is not something I had inherently. I was quite average in my infatuations and pursuits of them. I wasn’t boy crazy nor a prude. What about you?”

Nox, CNS

“I’ve never been boy crazy, not once.” He gave a single nod, as if to punctuate that declaration with emphasis.

This had her laughing softly. She loved a good sense of humor and moved closer to him, wrapping her arms around his waist. “Good to know?”

“I’ve never really been a fan of holding back my opinions either. My younger self would say that tact is often overrated… or at least certain kinds of it are. Part of that was definitely due to my upbringing also. My father taught me to never apologize for being right. It’s advice that I think has served me well, but not without some cost. Though I think the alternatives would have cost more. It’s hard to compare That Which Is Seen And That Which Is Not Seen.”

– Johann Dvorak, CO

“True, though I find that tempering one’s honesty with a little tact now is a better in most situations. Sometimes though, a proverbial slap in the face is definitely needed.”

Nox, CNS
