“Excellent,” the Captain said. “Send a contact report off to Black Rock and the nearest base, if I didn’t already ask you to do that.”

Matty didn’t find any other issues with any systems at this point, so she simply maintained her station and watched the power levels across the ship to make sure there were no other freaky things happening.

Johann looked at the map on the viewscreen again one last time.

=/\= Computer, resume normal display on main viewscreen. =/\=

The map vanished in an instant and was replaced with the Klingon battlecruiser that was now the subject of the ship’s complete attention. The Captain decided to resume his seat in the command chair, at least until something else required his attention.

Marsh spun slightly in his chair to watch the Captain get comfortable. Much like him, Marsh only could watch. He shrugged and turned back to his sensors.

Dvorak acknowledged the situation with a slight nod to Marsh.

One of these days, I should go on the mission anyway, the Captain thought. It had been several years since he last directly participated in an Away Team. Though, something will probably happen to keep us occupied here shortly. It always seemed to work out that way.

He looked at the panels at the ends of his command chair armrests. With a few taps, he set the one on the left to have the “Mission Ops” status output repeated, on its small screen, so that he could watch what the Away Team was doing. On the right hand side, he brought up his subspace messages and started reading through them.

Matty watched the Klingon ship and ran some engineering scans from her console to see what damage might have occurred to the ship and what her teams might encounter and what they might need to be transported over to help repair the ship if it could be repaired.

Marsh reported without looking up, “Transport successful… they are moving. No issues detectable.”

Scanning the Klingon vessel would show that the warp core had aged into damaging itself. The only damage throughout the ship was disrepair due to age.

Marsh started humming to himself. He put an array on continuous scan of the warp drive and core. That was one of the few systems that could endanger the landing party in such a fashion that they couldn’t respond safely.

Matty looked at the others “The warp core has aged to the point of damaging itself.” She said “I’m not sure that we’ll be able to repair it, however, we’ll let the team over there decide on that.” She said worried slightly about the team over there even though there were no life signs that she knew about.
