When Avik’s straps lifted her weight from the ground, her fingers tightened about them. Her eyes looked upward to see one of the security officers reach for her. The XO’s mind struggled with reactions as she allowed the officer to pull her out. Avik reached for it.

Upon touch, chaos flooded past Avik’s fragile mental shields. Her grip began to constrict about the hand with a vice-like determination. The Commander’s breath fell into a frenzied, short pattern and her skin became colder.

“C-calm your mind, please…” Avik requested in a hush plead.

-XO Avik, Lt. Cmdr

Cass couldn’t hear the XO’s words but she did cast a glance upwards to see if everything was okay. But she couldn’t worry about Avik at the moment. Right now, Vora needed her. It had been a long time since she had seen Vora so lost in her memories. Normally it was a brief thing and she was easily brought back to the present, but whatever was happening here was much more profound.

Kneeling before her friend, Cass reached out with both hands and took the good hand, carefully not to pull or push her limb in anyway i case it too was injured. The makeshift sling on the other arm had told her some of what she needed to know but it was likely not the whole story. supporting Vora’s hand with one hand, she rubbed the top in a gentle circular motion with the other. “Hey… everything is okay. You’re going to be okay. I’ve got you,” she said, keeping her tone light and reassuring. After a few moments, Vora’s breathing changed and she seemed to focus more.

Vora inhaled sharply. “Oww, it hurts,” she cried before gazing downwards. While she wasn’t sure exactly what was happening, Cass’ presence spoke volumes and it was hard to hide her embarrassment.

Cass moved her hands and rested them gently on the sides of Vora’s head. “Hey, look at me and listen well, okay?” Vora lifted her gaze and nodded slightly. “You have done nothing wrong. There are some things that are just out of our control, even when we’re pretty good at keeping triggers from happening. I don’t know the exact collection of triggers that made this so much harder for you, but it did. And that’s okay. You did’t asked to be trapped in a turbolift. Now, we have the Commander out and she should be up soon. The it’s your turn and we’ll go right to Sickbay., okay.” Vora nodded again and Cassidy dropped her hands before looking upwards. “We’re ready down here. Send down the sling and let’s get out of here,” she called up to Trenton.

Ashlyn was as outwardly professional as expected of any Starfleet officer in an emergency. Her thoughts were definitely NOT Starfleet, in fact, all her external control could be balanced with the internal chaos. “Calm, what calm, I am never calm!” “My mind is my own and no one will tell me what to do with it.” “Organized chaos is my living space!” “Uh, she’s got a grip.” “Don’t change the subject, I have more to say for my state of mind!” “Uh no, hand hurts.” “Wait, how bad?” “Vulcan, so bad.” Ashlyn had gripped onto the First Officer to pull her up and the sudden grip made her wince until she could get her up into the Jefferies Tube. Once in the Jefferies Tube, Ashlyn started rapidly tapping the XO’s hand. “Not a Vulcan! Please let go.”

Avik’s grip didn’t change immediately. Her skin paled and her eyes fixed ahead before her ears registered the words. It came through a thick, heavy fog within her mind. She blinked then wrestled control over her instinct. Gradually, the grip’s strength released from Officer Trenton’s hand. After she jerked her arm back, the XO moved around her unfortune victim. One thing set heavily in her thoughts: distance. The sooner she escaped, the better for everyone.

Her legs rushed down the corridor. Emotions of fear and helplessness began to fade the moment she turned the corner, but she didn’t stop.

-XO Avik, Lt. Cmdr

Abrams wasn’t fully aware of what was going on above her. She would check in on Avik, but presumably the Xo was at least going to go by Sickbay to get checked out. For the moment, she had someone injured who needed medical attention and probably a visit with Nox. With some difficulty, Cass helped Vora onto the sling. “Okay, bring her up carefully and then send it the rig back down for me,” she told Trenton.

Ashlyn winced as the XO departed, trying to shift her hand back into a more functional position and hoping joints were just dislocated. Unfortunately, unrestrained Vulcan strength was no laughing matter and the light touches shot lances of pain though her hand. “Understood, I’m down a hand so I’ll not be as efficient but we’ll get everyone up at least.” The hand was probably broken and will need to be looked at later, but that can wait until everyone is out. Ashlyn only hoped that the next person wasn’t also a telepath, her mind is getting her into trouble lately.
