Approaching the table, Cass gave those bothering Trenton a glare and they sheepishly retreated as the COS set down the pitcher and tray of glasses on the large table most people were gathered around. “Alright, help yourselves” she declared as she poured herself a syntheholic beer and took a seat. She didn’t believe in forced socialization but she was also keeping an eye on the overall mood of her team and any individual issues she might see.

Lieutenant Betts grinned in Abrams’ direction. “So… what’s this we hear about a challenge from the USS Return? Something about their chief throwing down the gauntlet and something about calling our team a disheveled mess?” she said with a grin.

Cassidy just laughed. “Oh please, they can say whatever they like, but Lieutenant Jamieson and I go way back to the Academy and he’s just playing.” She took a sip of her beer and leaned in. “Though, if you want to take up said challenge, there is a possibility that something could be arranged. After all, can’t let the Europa’s honor be sullied or anything.”

Trenton barely looked up from her PaDDs during the conversation then decided to pull several to bring up information on the USS Return, their CoS and his staff. “What are the terms of this challenge? When will it take place? What is expected? How much time will we have to train for it to ensure our ‘disheveled mess’ is a coordinated ball of chaos that they simply cannot fathom?” Once all the information she could quickly bring up was on the PaDDs, she gently pushed one to each of the members at the table. “Simple intelligence on our opponents, some of which are less stellar than our own.” Ashlyn’s devious grin hints toward the possibility of getting more information if given time and permission. This, of course, generated nervous glances from the other officers at the table.

Cassidy just laughed and leaned forward conspiratorially. “I can arrange something with Jamieson. Don’t know what it would look like, but I’m willing to entertain suggestions. But… this is for fun,” she said, arching her brows as she took each person in in turn. Reaching forward she poured herself a drink, and then leaned back casually.

Ashlyn processed that information really fast, already bringing up maps, building plans and contact lists to put in front of the Lieutenant. “How is Risa for fun? I’m thinking a game of capture the flag, with the flag being a data file containing an embarrassing secret for each member of the team. We’ll get a room that will act as a ‘base’ and we’ll have to operate within the area to capture the data, or disable the team. Additionally, we have to do it while maintaining positive relations with the Risan Government and NOT involving the other guests. This will be a real test of our entire tree of skills rather than just some silly combat drill. Investigation, Interrogation, protection and respect of xenocultures. Could even get the staff on board and get a team of varied alien types that we will have to learn the customs of in order to not offend anyone while we conduct our operations. Broad challenges that give everyone a chance to shine with their talents. What do you say boss?” Ashlyn turns to the other security members with a sly smirk, “Who wants to do a ‘security’ challenge on Risa?” This was calculated with the intent to get the team on board easily, who wouldn’t want to spend any time at all on Risa?

Cassidy laughed. “I love it! Can’t guarantee when we’ll be at Risa. The Europa has a tendency to be anywhere but vacation spots. I’ll run it by the captain and see what he says.” She couldn’t help but grin and was imagining all the other perks of the ship being at a place like Risa. Fun indeed!

Ashlyn gave the Lieutenant a sharp nod in response, “If you need me to do up the proposal for the challenge, the training benefits, and a cost/risk analysis for the proposal, let me know. I’ll be happy to flirt the captain into submission.” This was clearly meant to be a joke but may have been in poor choice given the deliverer of said joke.

Clodagh had been on an extra shift when the soiree had begun. She arrived last and stepped into the lounge as if already planning her retreat. If everyone was bustling around and having fun, she was planning on doing just that. One hand went up to smooth her loose hair. She didn’t wear it down often and it was an odd sensation to her when she did. Her red locks, loosely pulled back by a single barrette, looked like fire dancing down her back. Her pale, slightly freckled face was barely tinted with makeup and even her lipstick was understated. She wore an emerald green silken top with short sleeves that hung to just past her backside. Gold slacks, well fitted but loose, were hemmed to just the right length to let her black ankle boots show as she walked. A gold torc around her neck matched the bracelet on her right wrist and she fiddled with it while continuing to decide in that moment to stay or go.
