Sienna nodded, having received Avik’s thought. I suppose we should assist. Hopefully moving the ship will give us more information.

OOC: I’ve lost track of where I was in this thread, so if I say something wrong just ignore it.

Marsh could have the computer stitch the repeats together. It was unlikely the interference would block the same parts of the repeated message over and over.

Marsh

OOC: No worries. Things have really slowed down sim-wise but I’m keeping track, for the most part, of what all has happened.

With the order to move out of the radiation zone given the Ensign at helm laid in a course and got the ship moving, needing to piece together the repeating message became a moot point, as the Europa had a much cleaner signal after being under full impulse for a time.

The now cleaned up message came through: “Pilot E5463, radiation is likely interfering with the transponder coordinates and we’re unable to track the vessel’s location. Communicate on band theta to coordinates epsilon 115 delta 212 to apprise of situation.”

GM Dread

Avik listened to the message. Once out of the radiation field, the gaps became filled in and it was obvious to the purpose. They were searching for the lost pilot. A brief look passed from her to Nox then Marsh, she hoped they would give their opinion. For now, she needed information over the pilot before they even considered contacting his home world.

She pressed her comm to contact Sick Bay. =^=Avik to Sick Bay, update on the pilot’s condition.=^=

“I think we should make sure we are helping before we contact the ship to hand over the Pilot. Make sure he isn’t on the run or something that will complicate his rescue.” Giving the opinion to Avik she knew the XO wished to have.

Nox, CNS

Avik paused to digest the thought. A lot of what had happened didn’t fully support the pilot being on the run. First off, authorities on many planets had similar approaches to apprehending a fugitive. She doubted they would broadcast their search and instead request a surrender then move on to aggressive measures.

“Fair assumption, but we need the pilot to be conscious in order to know that. I will point out if you are looking for someone who is on the run, it is not a good idea to broadcast you are looking for them.”

She took a breath.

“We have a limited window before they assume the pilot is gone so I hope Sick Bay replies back quickly.” Avik made a loud, clear observation as she measured the time in her head.

“Yes, sir.” Now, to wait.

Nox, CNS

Mattie was scanning the ship that they had rescued “Commander Avik, I would like to go and check out the ship personally and see just how damaged it is and if it can be salvaged before we make contact with these folks.” She said

CE

=/\=Astrometrics to Bridge. Rutz here. I’m running further scans, but just a heads up that two more spacecraft have undocked from the space station and are on separate paths to either side of the gas giant.=/\=

~NE Rutz, Sciences

Mattie waited for orders from Avik before she left her station.

OOC: Being transparent here, waiting for the GM post for progression and we’re gradually working Joe back into the story. Thank you all for your extreme patience.

IC: Avik turned to the Chief Engineer’s statement. Her stoic face hid the surprise at the fact the woman had not already headed down into the cargo bay and examined it alongside the security team. Of course, so much had happened. From the pilot to the CO’s implants malfunction, Avik realized it was easy to become distracted.

Hearing Astrometics’ information, Avik took a small breath then broke the silence.

“Sullivan, I agree security could use your help with the ship. Your knowledge is better suited there than on the bridge presently,” Avik dismissed her to join the Chief of Security and her junior officer.

IC:
Tolar’s voice came up on the communications. The CMO sounded worn and tired as he released unfortunate news.

=/\=Sickbay to Avik…The injured pilot that was beamed here for a medical emergency succumbed to their injuries. However, after passing they then disintegrated until nothing remained under some sort of light effect. Here’s the rest of what I know…=/\=

The XO listened intently. She interrupted only to request the medical information to be placed into the computer for later, accessible by all personnel interested in it. It appeared toward the end, the pilot had revealed something about their current brief system. A Great cycle. Her mind thought back to key statements Tolar revealed.

Body and essence returned to the shrik. Old provides for the new and nothing went to waste or the cycle was broken. It sounded more like a belief system to her, but she couldn’t be sure. In the end, the individual revealed his identification number as E5463 and his name Slrrip. A dying wish to be known.

The silence stretched across the bridge as Avik digested the information then turned to the communications.

“I think it’s time we contact them now before they get out of range.”

She inhaled, her logic steadied and her nerve steeled for the sour introductions. When she was a CMO, she found informing loved ones of their passing difficult or pointless. It did not bring back the dead. Merely enflamed the emotional connection, but she knew many cherished such acts. These people possibly did the same.

“Communications establish a radio transmission. The message: This is the ship USS Europa of the Federation. We have located your missing pilot, injured in his mission, and passed into the Great cycle. With his final words, he requested a message sent back to his people. Pilot E5463, Slrripp did his duty.”
