“Deacon said he, and I quote ‘I wouldn’t miss your wedding for anything and that even if I ended up in a coma somehow, I’ll find a way’. End quote. I told him it was a little too soon for that sort of comment after everything with Cass and her family and the Tian An Men,” Vora said as she set down the plate of cheese fries. It had become one of her favourite foods ever since Johann introduced them to her. Finally an acceptable form of potato. It was the only way she’d eat that nasty vegetable.

“Uhh… yeah…” he said. Johann looked at the contents of the plate, and briefly considered the highly corrupting influence he may have had on Vora over the past several years.

In her duty uniform, but with her jacket over the back of one of the dining chair, she moved about the quarters comfortably, long accustomed to being in them. After all, soon she would actually be living in this space and that was going to be a change. But Jerrin would get his own quarters (he did not need two bedrooms) and the young man was decidedly happy about that.

Moving to the replicator, she looked over her shoulder. “What do you want to drink?”

He briefly considered this for a moment as he was still sitting down. He was also in his duty uniform, but his jacket was hanging in the closet in the other room. He had opted to wear the “Captain’s Vest” today instead of the jacket. He was still wearing it, though it was open instead of closed.

“I’ll have saldareeil,” he said simply. Who is corrupting who, now?

With a grin, Vora ordered two of the brightly coloured Tenraith drinks and brought them to the table. It was a blend of fruit juice from the tropical region around Kebbran that had an added kick from a slightly spicy root.

Moving across to the coffee table she grabbed a PADD and came to join him at the table. “So… I know I’ve been talking about writing some sort of memoir, something to chronicle my experiences, but of course the major issue became about publishing it. Cortallo, while I’ve not heard one word one that end for ages now, won’t abide being named and shamed, and I won’t put anyone in danger that way. But I have a solution to anonymously publishing it in pieces through the therapist I was working with during my relapse.” She inhaled deeply. “But I’m not a solo person anymore. I showed it to Jerrin and he’s okay with me doing this, but I want you to feel okay with it as well. So I want you to read it then tell me honestly how you feel about me doing this,” she said, sliding the PADD towards him, her maroon eyes gazing at him deeply.

He picked up the PADD and started reading. And then he kept reading. He was clearly interested in the text, and seemed to focus on nothing else. There was a slight bip as he pressed a button with his thumb to scroll the text. Toward the end, he let out a slight smile, having recognized the passing reference to himself.

“That’s very well written,” he said after a minute. “You should write more often, generally, if you’re this good.”

“You don’t think the bit about you having a ‘beautiful name’ is too much of a giveaway, do you? Or your resume in the middle there? I mean, someone clever could put all of that together. Not that I’m really concerned about that; nobody could be worse than Roquan.”
