Of course I am here. Avik doesn’t need me at the moment so I wanted to check on you and make sure you weren’t being too stubborn with Dr. Zarath. She smiled softly but the smile did not remain long. Voras worry for Johann was dampening. Sienna understood this worry all too well and she touched the young woman’s arm gently to give her reassurance.

Though she was trying hard to play it cool, Vora understood that her concerns were not going to go entirely unnoticed. She gave Nox a tiny, but appreciative smile.

Me? Stubborn? he thought in mock surprise.

“You can let me worry about diagnosing your brain…” The Doctor smirked slightly, scanning for a moment. “Good news, there isn’t any permanent damage. Just don’t over do it, the shielding I put in works, but we haven’t tested how much of the star’s radiation we can actually block. If you have any issues whatsoever… You’d better let me know immediately so we can fit you with a visor, in the event we have to take your implants offline again.” He nodded to Vora as well. “The Captain should be able to return to duty, but I want to see him every 24 hours just in case.”

-Zarath, CMO

Oh, screw that! Johann thought as Zarath mentioned the word “visor.”

She listened to Zarath give his diagnosis and recommendation for treatment and follow up. Avik would be pleased he was going to be able to return to duty, though she shared a bit of Vora’s worry about returning to duty so quickly after the issue had arisen. Zarath was a very competent doctor though and she trusted his judgement.

Nox, CNS

“I’ll be sure to let you know, Doctor,” the Captain said. “Let’s see how things are going upstairs; even with this situation I can probably afford to take it easy for the next day or two.”

He slapped his comm badge. =/\= Dvorak to Avik. I’ve been cleared for light duty, and I’ve gotten a brief summary of the situation from Lieutenant Zorell, =/\= he said. =/\= I’m heading up to you now. You can brief me when I get there, but I think we need to expedite the return of the alien spacecraft, without performing any destructive testing. What’s our current ETA? =/\=

He was about to turn and head out of the room, when he finally noted the actual concern that Vora suddenly seemed to have, and the reassurance that Siennadye was giving her. Probably a bit too flippant about the ‘brain damage’ thing, he thought. It was enough to make him pause. Pausing made him feel tired again. He wanted to relax, to assure them things were fine, that he’d be good and take things easy with…

– Johann Dvorak, CO

Avik’s reply interrupted the journey of that thought train before it could arrive at its station.

=^= Avik to Dvorak, understood. If my calculations are correct, it will take us a day to arrive at the latest.=^=

Dvorak thought for a moment about the layout of this system as he remembered it on the Bridge. They couldn’t have been that far away from the planet in question, so he assumed Avik must have been approaching very slowly in order to buy time to sort everything out. Let’s get there in an hour, he thought. That should be enough time.

=/\= Understood, =/\= he said after a moment. =/\= Plot a new intercept at full impulse power, and engage impulse engines at that speed. Have the rest of the crew prepare to return the alien ship and any remains before we arrive. =/\=

He looked at Zarath, now. “There were remains, right? The pilot died?”

– Johann Dvorak, CO

“Unfortunately, the remains were somehow vaporized… in the incident.” Zarath rumbled, looking rather dissatisfied with the resulting situation. “I’m sorry.”

-Zarath, CMO

OOC: There, fixed. Sorry.

“Oh right,” Dvorak said. Vora had mentioned that earlier when he woke up. I wonder why there’s no acknowledgement…

Momentarily lost in thought, Vora moved to join Johann and she gave him a smirk. “You know, if I didn’t know any better, I’d think you did this just to get out of wedding planning,” she said with a smirk. But a split second after the words exited her mouth, her maroon eyes went wide and her mouth dropped open. Oops. They weren’t trying to keep it a secret, but it wasn’t like they had made some sort of announcement. I’m sorry,” she mouthed to him, mortified. It was the first time ever in their relationship together that she had made some sort of overt personal comment about them. Even her concern at his bedside had been muted. Once, in years. He’d forgive that, she knew, but she also knew she couldn’t take back her words.

Lt. (j.g) Zorell, Sciences

Johann’s implants rolled from Doctor Zarath to Vora, and his face went quizzical for a moment. Her comment would not have been that out of place five minutes earlier, but just blurting that out right now was a little weird. Stress reaction, he thought.

“No, but I think I’m going to get out of wedding planning now by going to the Bridge,” he said simply. “You know, to be the Captain for a little bit. Maybe if I follow the Doctor’s advice and get some rest tomorrow we can do some of that, as long as it doesn’t involve calling my mother on subspace.” He didn’t feel the need to emphasize further that everyone ought to be getting back to ‘work’ now; Vora was obviously sufficiently mortified, it really wasn’t that big of a deal, Nox already knew they were a couple, and the Doctor would have professional reasons to know this information soon enough anyway.

After whatever commotion happened, he simply said “Alright, let’s go,” and began making his way out of Sickbay.

– Johann Dvorak, CO

The Doctor murmured something about Stress and Weddings and Blood Pressure, but raised his voice as the Captain exited Sickbay. “I’d like to check your vitals in 24 hours, Captain. If you’d be so kind as to return at that time.” The Andorian shook his head, antennae waving with the centrifugal force of the motion. Then he took a sip of tea and made a face because it had gone cold. “Dammit.” He muttered.
