“Oh right,” Dvorak said. Vora had mentioned that earlier when he woke up. I wonder why there’s no acknowledgement…

Momentarily lost in thought, Vora moved to join Johann and she gave him a smirk. “You know, if I didn’t know any better, I’d think you did this just to get out of wedding planning,” she said with a smirk. But a split second after the words exited her mouth, her maroon eyes went wide and her mouth dropped open. Oops. They weren’t trying to keep it a secret, but it wasn’t like they had made some sort of announcement. I’m sorry,” she mouthed to him, mortified. It was the first time ever in their relationship together that she had made some sort of overt personal comment about them. Even her concern at his bedside had been muted. Once, in years. He’d forgive that, she knew, but she also knew she couldn’t take back her words.

Sienna’s whole world shut down. There was no other way to describe the sensation. Her vision narrowed considerably and she could have stopped breathing… she didn’t consciously know. Wedding planning. Wedding planning? Wedding. Marriage? A life together. Her hand fell from Vora as Vora looked to Johann mortified.

Johann’s implants rolled from Doctor Zarath to Vora, and his face went quizzical for a moment. Her comment would not have been that out of place five minutes earlier, but just blurting that out right now was a little weird. Stress reaction, he thought.

“No, but I think I’m going to get out of wedding planning now by going to the Bridge,” he said simply. “You know, to be the Captain for a little bit. Maybe if I follow the Doctor’s advice and get some rest tomorrow we can do some of that, as long as it doesn’t involve calling my mother on subspace.” He didn’t feel the need to emphasize further that everyone ought to be getting back to ‘work’ now; Vora was obviously sufficiently mortified, it really wasn’t that big of a deal, Nox already knew they were a couple, and the Doctor would have professional reasons to know this information soon enough anyway.

With a soft smile, Vora nodded. “Fine, fine, but later,” she said. Later. There would be a later and that was all that mattered.

After whatever commotion happened, he simply said “Alright, let’s go,” and began making his way out of Sickbay.

The Doctor murmured something about Stress and Weddings and Blood Pressure, but raised his voice as the Captain exited Sickbay. “I’d like to check your vitals in 24 hours, Captain. If you’d be so kind as to return at that time.” The Andorian shook his head, antennae waving with the centrifugal force of the motion. Then he took a sip of tea and made a face because it had gone cold. “Dammit.” He muttered.

-Zarath, CMO

“Yeah, okay Doc,” Johann said rather casually without turning around as he walked out the door.

“I’ll make sure he does,” Vora said to Zarath before she followed Johann out.

In the corridor, Vora caught up to him and somehow resisted the urge to grab his hand and give it a squeeze. “I’m going to head back to the bridge with you. Astrometrics is covered, but last I heard Lieutenant Marsh was down in the shuttlebay, so I’ll relieve whomever is on science on the bridge.”

“Okay. If you need to get out any emotional funny business, we should do that before we get up there,” he said simply as he kept walking down the corridor with her. Then he seemed to re-think that statement.

“Umm, that isn’t a criticism of what you just did there. I was about to get positively dewy-eyed over how all of you decided to show up before Avik called back. Almost had a day-dream about all of us taking the day off and having another social occasion.”

All the words went into her mind but were simply not processed. She stood there dumbstruck as both the Captain and Vora left. None of her usual tricks to handle stress came to mind. Nothing did really. She felt numb and vaguely she wondered what the fast thudding was and why was there pain in her chest and burning in her eyes. That’s unusual. It felt like an eternity of floating and then suddenly, she came crashing back down to the ground as her lungs protested enough for air to break through the fog. She collapsed to the floor gasped for air, suddenly feeling every bit of her body’s protest. Her heart was pounding. Her lungs were screaming for air and she felt so dizzy. Her eyes burned with unshed tears. Her face was flush red from agitation.

Nox, CNS

OOC: Amazing post! I’m partly sad they had already left, but I can’t see Nox falling to pieces when they were still there. :P ~Linds

Why is Nox staying there? he wondered briefly. Probably conspiring with the Doctor, came the answer to his own question. Yeah, that had to be it.
