Sienna wished Avik had not said that yet, but eventually it would have been discovered through their inevitable line of questioning. “Our main purpose though, is to create a relationship with you and your people, to get to know your culture, history, and technology, to see how we can benefit each other in our future dealings. We explore new life and civilizations. We want to expand our understanding of the universe through these methods and advance all civilization.”

Nox, CNS

Marsh tilted his head… given their level of tech, that was a prodigy… “I’d love to see her math.”

Sllyro nodded again but this time towards Nox. “Understanding and sharing of knowledge is welcome. My earlier… outburst, was due to a sense of insecurity. Your technological advantages far outstrip our own, as could be seen from the retrieval of our lost vessel, and so the idea of such a technologically superior entity… investigating us, was very unsettling. As if all of our secrets would be laid bare against our will.”

Still observing the exchange with caution, Cassidy finally felt it was okay for her to add her own interjections. “We absolutely wish no harm. Contact with new peoples is always a delicate situation and our group, the Federation, is made up of many, many different cultures. As the counsellor said, it’s trough mutual cooperation, but we are always aware that our different perspectives can create gaps of understanding and we try very hard to avoid misunderstandings. So if we seem cautious, that hope for understanding is a large part of why.”

Abrams, COS

The tension from earlier began to dwindle down and taper off, logic prevailing in the conversation. At least, that’s what it appeared like to Avik. She made a small note of it then loosened her posture on the outside. Whether they wanted to or not, they were forced to continue the mission. First she wanted to check in on the ship.

“Now that the misunderstanding is cleared up, I should check in and update the CO. Then we can continue this.” Avik immediately pressed her comm badge.

=^=Avik to Europa.=^= She paused when she didn’t hear the familiar beep that indicated the ship got the message. Another attempt yielded the same results.

–XO, Avik, Lt. Cmdr

Marsh glanced at the Commander’s non-responsive comm badge.

Whether it was coincidental or by design, the attendant and their escort team looked up into the sky after Avik’s failed attempt to contact the Europa. Something held their attention for a handful of second before their attention returned to the away team. “Your ship has gone quiet.”

GM Dread

Marsh pulled out his tricorder and started scanning. Certainly not powerful enough to detect the ship at this distance… it could detect decaying elements that were coming towards them… which an exploded ship would be. “And how exactly do you know that?”

Marsh

Sllyro looked at Marsh. “After your ship arrived near our station and gave back our vessel it had been under constant watch. Until just a moment ago it had been giving off emissions of various spectrums but now nothing is being emitted. It’s still there but silent.”

Their words seemed to be truthful as far as the evidence showed, which was the tricorder not picking up any signs of the destruction of the ship.

GM Dread

Avik seized up Sllyo and his escort, her body locked into her standing position for several moments. She hadn’t realized her breath was held until she forced herself to exhale. The statement that followed was… unsettling even for a Vulcan. Naturally Marsh asked the same question she had been considering asking. She let their hosts explain and found herself only slightly relieved. At least the ship wasn’t destroyed, but that indicated a power failure or worse on the Europa.

“That is concerning to hear. Are your people able to detect any life signs onboard?” If the power was offline, they couldn’t simply stand here and do nothing. However, it was difficult to know what to do since the ship was above them and they were stuck down here.

–XO, Avik, Lt. Cmdr

Sllyro shook their head. “We don’t have the capability. We can see your ship and and could detect emissions but nothing beyond the hull. We are unsure of the status of the rest of your people.”

GM Dread

“There’s no wreckage, but no return signal, that would have to be a mass power event, the computer should be able to respond.” He didn’t know how the ships emergency power would be drained so quickly.

Marsh tapped his comm badge =^=Lieutenant Marsh - To Europa automated response code 2211… initiate.=^=

“We need to get back up there.” Marsh more thought he needed to get back up there.
