Piper had finished all her other boarding assignments and headed to the Captain’s ready room. She had a PaDD in her hand for him from Matty and she was excited to give it to him. She rang the chime on the ready room door and waited to be called in.

“Come in,” came the Captain’s voice from behind the door.

The Captain looked at Grant as she entered the room. He seemed confused for a second, but then remembered the face from the file.

“Hello,” he said casually. “Lieutenant Piper Grant, right?”

“Yes sir. Reporting for duty.” Piper said as she sat a small box on his desk “That’s from your former chief engineer. She was one of my instructors at the academy and when I told her my assignment she asked me to deliver it to you.”
