I’m attempting to determine what, if anything, is being done to find us a new GM. There seems to be a belief that Linds’ side sim on Tenra could just carry the ship, so I’m not sure if finding a new GM was initially given the appropriate priority from the fleet staff. Though now I’m being told there are no GMTs waiting, nobody has any interest in GMing at this time, and there’s been no opportunity to discuss this further with other people in the government due to recent, apparently planned absences that nobody told me about.
I’m not going to mince words here; I really hate not having a GM who is active, and I’m not going to wait months-plural for one. We’ve been through that before on this ship, even to the point of putting up with it for a whole calendar year. The last time that happened I told myself that I wasn’t going to go through it again. I’m going to be reminding people of that to try to make some action happen, but I have to be honest with all of you and admit that I don’t know if the club is actually capable of supporting our ship given the larger situation that not everyone seems to willing to address.

It’s definitely an issue and I’m not going to minimize it. I’m hoping there’s someone that wasn’t immediately obvious who can GM.
But what do we do in the meantime? Because I don’t know many GMs that will take on a ship where no one is posting. And I get that it takes energy to come up with stuff and push through without a main sim, but we’re all creative and smart writers, and when motivated can write some beautiful threads. I am still willing to run the Tenra side sim and include everyone, but to be honest there seems to be little interest in it and I’m not going to go out of my way to make something that comprehensive if it’s going to be ignored. That’s not my idea of fun, and this Tenra storyline has been important to me and for Vora. I don’t want to ruin that but doing it half-heartedly.

I don’t know the solution, there are too few GMs and frankly from the position of being a GM it is a thankless job. I have served on ships where the command crew would make my life miserable so I don’t want to GM. I consider my GMing the give back to a club that has given me so much enjoyment, but a single player ‘b##hing’ can derail all your work so whats the point.
We might need to do a GM drive but the GMs have to have longevity. My one on the Genny dropped too last month after only being on for 2. I have to run that sim personally after funning a side mission to keep busy for the six months of not having a gm.
