“That sounds like a good start Jerrin. Perhaps you can look at some of the classes listed on the holodeck and take one a few days a week. The class can be Star Fleet taught but there are also many options that are not Star Fleet taught. It would give you some time on your own but not entirely, as they are usually filled with other students and a teacher to assist. You can put your mind to something fascinating to you. I find I feel better in general when my mind is challenged. What do you think of that idea?”

Nox, CNS

There was a bleep from the console indicating that the Captain had accepted the invitation that was sent to him earlier. There was no other note or comment associated with it, so he probably had quickly tapped something out on the Bridge.

Jerrin nodded slowly. “Sure,” he said simply. he was doing classes already but nothing was very advanced at this point. Though his mother had pointed out that with his memory they were going to have to work harder to push him a bit. He couldn’t entirely say it was a terrible idea since some things were so easy he felt bored.

Boredom, she could feel the concept rolling off of him and had to smile. “Make sure you pick something that will challenge you. Goes against the idea if you find something simple. No, for you, you need stimulation. You need a good puzzle. Really challenge yourself as it will be a better reward for you when you finish.”

Jerrin simply nodded. He knew she was right after all. He was easily bored.

She turned and placed cups on the table. “Would you get the strawberry lemonade out of the refrigerator? Its the pitcher filled with pink liquid, lemons and strawberries. I made it last night. I think it will be nice and refreshing. I would suggest a wine, but I believe that Vora does not drink is that correct?”

Nox, CNS

“Yeah, no alcohol for her,” he said as he went to the fridge. “And definitely not synthehol either. She’s apparently allergic.” He grabbed the pitcher and moved back to the counter. “She warned me I might have the same problem, that it could be a Tenraith thing.”

~Jerrin

“OH my!” She exclaimed at the idea that someone could be allergic to synthehol. She wondered medically what would cause such a phenomenon since she had never heard of it before. “Well, that is a shame. I love a good wine with Italian food. I suppose the strawberry lemonade will have to do and of course water.” The water glasses were tall cylinders and the lemonade classes were stemless wineglasses. She placed a lemon slice on the rim of each lemonade glass and a strawberry next to it. This took a bit of time so she continued their conversation.

“Mom’s okay with others drinking around her. So you can, if you want. She won’t mind,” Jerrin remarked. “Something about it being long enough now that there’s no temptation?”

“Well, they should be here in a few minutes. I suppose we could wrap up our more intimate chat with my suggestion that we do this fairly regularly. Perhaps not cooking, if you would rather not, but I find that I love teaching it and if you are not averse, we could continue to meet every other week? Though, I would like to meet with you in a few days to check on your progress in finding something to occupy your mind a bit more. Does that sound alright to you?”

Siennadye Nox, CNS

Jerrin half shrugged but nodded slowly. “Yeah, that would be fine.”
