Mara walked towards the Chief Engineer’s office, hovering around the door for a bit. She had just been posted on the Europa after completing the Academy… It was evident on her face and by her body language that she was indeed, quite terrified. Why? She didn’t quite know. Everything felt sort of overwhelming for her, but she shook her head and breathed in deep, knocking on the door.“Ensign Mara Oxton, reporting for my boarding check-in!”
She had considered using her middle name when addressing herself, it would at least make her mum happy.
Mara Leta Oxton the name that was given to her at birth, Leta after her maternal grandmother; Leta Elizabeth Harker. Mara wondered if any of her friends had also been posted on the Europa, she already knew that Tandra Mika had stayed on the USS Challenger as their new CMO… But she greatly wondered about K’sang, or even her new found friends Satyol and Sharah. She smiled, even if they hadn’t joined, she had a great time on the Challenger and figured that their time was precious… She would never forget the experience she had at the Academy. The friends she made, the things she learned.
Nodding to herself, Mara opened the door and entered the office.~ Ensign Mara Oxton {Engineer}
Mattie looked up “Ensign, come in.” She said noticing the hesitance in her demeanor “I promise I don’t bite.” She added with a slight chuckle “Ensign Mara Leta Oxton. Studied Engineering and was an engineering cadet aboard the USS Challenger. High marks in all areas of study.” She said rattling off what she already knew about the new engineer “So....What do you think of the Europa thus far?” She asked

Mara walked into the office and sat on a chair, folding her legs in a sophisticated way, like her mum had taught her.
She smiled as the Chief Engineer listed off her background, sort of proud in her achievement with graduating the academy with high marks.
“It’s different, but good different. It’s a nice change of pace from the Challenger”
It felt right being there, like she was always meant to be in space rather than stay on Earth with her family. She looked at the CE, she aimed to be in a higher position… CE, XO… Maybe even a captain one day! But now was probably not the time, now she was an ensign. Working hard to make it in life.
