There was a chance that this was an extra-solar stellar body before getting trapped in the gas giant’s gravity as there were some elements present that were not found on any other planet in the system. The gravity of the planet was 1.2G Earth standard, most of the planet was arid with few open water sources though there were population centers on top or adjacent to several deep water aquifers, the population centers themselves varied in size with one that seems to be the ‘capital’ or largest city having a total population of 32 Billion bio-signs present. Some of these could be domesticated pets are other fauna but it would be safe to say that there were a lot of sapient beings on this planet.

“Okay, so a bit on the heavy side,” Vora mused. That was going to have a certain effect on the people that had evolved there and upon their physiology. And she had to admit that there was something familiar about this place, but when she studied the fresh water sources, she realized it was because Tenra used the same sort of system over much of drier parts of the planet.

Sorting the results, Vora pulled up the anomalous elements list, the geologist in her curious about what that might include. If this particular planetary body had access to particular metals and other elements that were useful for technology, it could be a path towards warp for them. Or not. She didn’t want to draw conclusions before she had evidence either way.

The foreign metals and elements weren’t related to warp technology in any way. They were however necessary in leading to more advanced computer circuitry, holograph tech, shielding, and energy transfer emitters. The demonstrated level of these particular technologies were far from the Federation’s standard though.

“Interesting.” Vora catalogued the data so easy reference later.

“Computer, give me an overview of the detectable industries present on the planet,” Zorell asked. She didn’t have a particular train of thought (yet), but she wanted to get a sense of the society they were investigating.

Lt. (j.g.) Zorell, Sciences

The various industries depended largely on city size and location of natural resources near them. The capital city focused largely on assembly of resources from elsewhere and large scale manufacturing. There was a large fusion reactor in the heart of the city with eighteen auxiliary fusion reactors evenly distributed along the middle ring of the city. It was currently unknown why there was such a huge energy production or what it was being used for.

The smaller cities in comparison were mostly resource extraction nodes with simpler refining or manufacturing processes. Most of the products, resources, or good seemed to be exported almost exclusively to the capital. Very little in the way of finished goods or refined resources remained behind. This included things like smelted aluminum, nickle, iron, palladium, copper, and various other metals.

Okay, that was strange. That was not how most economies worked. “Computer, based on the information, extrapolate where the rest of the societies basic resources come from. Include things like good, agriculture and where the bulk of public services are based.”

Lt. (j.g.) Zorell, Sciences

The computer extrapolated that it was likely given population density to water source ratio that some of the less populated cities with larger water reserves were used for agriculture purposes. There were a number of sub-orbital craft flying about on the planet though they were unmanned. These were presumably used for the transport of goods, people, supplies, or whatever else. It didn’t seem that a free market was in place as all goods flowed to the capital with only some of it being redistributed to other cities.
