Ashlyn took her time gently setting Ki’lain down near Lieutenant Abrams so that Sharah could work on her. She had acted on instinct and adrenaline so she understood why Abrams seemed rather upset with her choices and she wasn’t going to argue them either. Instead, Trenton leaned back against the wall to relax her heart rate and fight through the developing headache. With how helpful they are, at this point, the Conference was more a burden than a blessing and she put most of them to rest so her mind could quiet enough for Sharah to work. Trenton wanted to take advantage of the lull in the activity, there were plenty more that were going to need help in a moment.

Fayth ignored the medkit. She had one of her own. She knew what she had to do and didn’t need the COS to tell her what that was. She knew going in she’d get dressed down. The only one she was worried about was Doctor Zarath. He was her DH and she answered to him, and she would take whatever punishment was given, she wouldn’t leave people she could help. They were the first to arrive and they were cautious. They followed first responder protocol. Just because they were ensigns didn’t make them incompetent. She sucked it up and looked at Abrams and with all the respect that she had for anyone in security, which was a lot, she spoke, “With your permission Lt. I have a designated safe area just around the corner. I’d prefer to treat her there.” She was the doctor in charge, and she was an expert in emergency medicine. She would not be cowed by non medical personnel. Trenton would be slightly shocked at the sudden steel in Fayth’s spine. She’d never seen her actually work at her job. Usually Fayth was shy and reserved, but apparently not when she was working on the injured and sick.

Cassidy was in a safe area, so she wasn’t sure what the ensign was on about, but the actual safer area was off this deck. “I believe my orders were pretty basic. Get her stable, and then get her to Sickbay. I don’t particularly care which part of the deck you check her out in, but we’re not turning the deck into a triage area, so get her out of here. Preferably with some backup.” She cast as glance between the two ensigns. “You had the wherewithal to enter the situation with a medkit but not to gather the necessary safety equipment for the situation?” she said, thrusting the rebreather at Fayth. This wasn’t about being unfairly chewed out. This was about common sense. “First responder basics: you can’t help others if you don’t help yourself first,” Abrams said firmly. She wasn’t yelling, in fact, despite her words and tone, she was quite calm.

Sharah knew emergency medicine and survival medicine too. She didn’t have time for Abrams assumptions. She went to put the rebreather on Ki’lain. She’d make a report to Zarath later. Abrams might be in a safe area now but this was not when she first designated an area and if anyone had bothered to check the..oh nevermind.

“We’ll come back this way in a minute,” the COS said to Fayth, before focusing on Trenton. Her clear blue eyes said everything. “If you’re not requiring medical attention Ensign, you’re with me.” It was not a request.

But before they could take off, Lieutenant Ki’lain, whose vitals had been stable enough but had been suffering from smoke inhalation, starting coughing. Her eyes fluttered open and she coughed some more. Taking in the doctor near her and the other standing, she shakily reached a hand out to Cassidy. “Zorell,” she said, before coughing.

“Ki’lain I need you to stop talking and breath the clean air in. I’m going to get you to Sickbay. The security team is good at their job. They’ll find everyone. Just relax. Trust them.” Sharah could feel the fear and confusion around the deck. The team needed to get going and she needed them to move so she could work. She gave Ki’lain the 50mls of Dexalin for oxygen deprivation. =^=Fayth to transporter chief. I have one to beam directly to sickbay, from my location.=^=, =^=Fayth to Sickbay and Doctor Zarath. 1 incoming, severe smoke inhilation and already given 50mls of Dexalin for oxygen deprivation. Prepare for 3 more momentarily for assumed minor injuries.=^= Ki’lain disappeared in shimmering light of the transporter and she grabbed her medkit and moved to the area designated as a safe zone.

Cass’ heart seemed to skip a beat before she caught herself and crouched down to the other scientist, someone she had worked side-by-side with for years previously. “Vora? Where is she Lia?” she said, gripping her hand.

“Left just a minute or so before the explosion,” Ki’lain said before her eyes seemed to go dazed again.

Nodding, Abrams was on her feet. “We’ll find her,” she said with confidence. She was already planning on doing a sweep, but now they were going to have to do not only an in depth one but but do it quickly. Gesturing to Ashlyn with her head, the COS’ demeanour had suddenly shifted as she moved cautiously into the area that the fire suppression system was clearing more rapidly. It was going to take awhile from the looks of it though. “Eyes open,” she said softly.

Ashlyn rubbed her temples to suppress or push past the encroaching headache. ‘Alright everyone, time to get active again.’ The conference was slow to rouse this time around but was up and going with attention to the details once again. Outwardly, Ashlyn took a deep breath and got back on her feet. A quick stretch and few light hops got the blood flowing again. “They’re open.” Trenton pulled her loaded Tricorder back out and scanned around. “Looks like we have two more on this deck and three on the deck below. How do you want to move?”

Securing her rebreather again, Cassidy peered ahead through the haze that was clearing slowly. “The two on this deck must be towards the end. Maybe in the turbolift?” she said, casting a glance towards Trenton. “Didn’t someone say there was a report of a malfunctioning turbolift?” It depended on how long ago Vora actually had left. Maybe Lia had the timing wrong? it was possible. She hoped for her friend that it was the case.

Sharah nodded, “That one there,” she pointed just behind her. “It’s where we got off, it just stopped, we were able to get the doors open. If one malfunctioned, maybe others did as well.” She was up and moving again to the other crewmen that they had sent ahead to see to them in the safe area she had sent them to.

Ashlyn had a lot of remarks she wanted to make but decided it was best not to make them. After putting in her own rebreather, she stepped off to head down the corridors to the other turbolifts. Why is it always turbolifts when things fail? Ashlyn hated turbolifts but could do little about them, this was just going to be yet another reason to not have them on the growing list of reasons. Her head hurt and it was difficult to focus, but Ashlyn didn’t need focus to keep moving for now.

Ahead through the haze, the damage to the corridors worsened but there were no longer any active flames. At the end though, the other turbolift sat and Cassidy had a sneaking suspicion she knew what happened. She tapped her commbadge. =/\=Abrams to Zorell.=/\=

There was only static.

Abrams exhaled. “Computer, what is the location of Lieutenant Zorell?”

“Lieutenant Zorell is on Deck 2. Deck 3. Deck 2…”There was a fizzling sound that most definitely sounded like processing issue.

Cassidy cursed in her head and continued on, her eyes scanning the doors as they went. Most of this space were small breakout room for working and meetings and it was evening so unless the tricorder said otherwise, there were unlikely to be anyone in them. Still, they would need to check each one. “Come on, where are you?” she said as she stopped to peek inside one of the room and found it vacant, as expected. She wasn’t panicked, and in fact it was in a crisis that Cass became her calmest. But this felt different. Maybe because er best friend was a mom? And about to get married? She would feel this urgency for any of the crew if she knew their situation was dire, but it was the unknown that was hard right now. And there was that voice in the back of her head that told her Vora deserved good things and that God/Life/Fate/Whatever should just give her friend a damn break!

Abrams, COS

Ashlyn watched her Lieutenant for a while, but after checking another empty room she found herself speaking up. “Lieutenant, why are you checking rooms physically that you know are empty? The computer stated Lieutenant Zorrel is in a broken turbolift.” The computer may have been on the fritz, but the idea still presented itself that the computer detected her comm badge moving between decks 2 and 3. To Ashlyn, this meant that she was at a median between two decks and was breathing so her chest would move the badge between the two median points. This was good news but meant they would need some additional tools. “Did you bring a plasma torch by any chance?”
