(snip)

The computer extrapolated that it was likely given population density to water source ratio that some of the less populated cities with larger water reserves were used for agriculture purposes. There were a number of sub-orbital craft flying about on the planet though they were unmanned. These were presumably used for the transport of goods, people, supplies, or whatever else. It didn’t seem that a free market was in place as all goods flowed to the capital with only some of it being redistributed to other cities.

GM Dread

Okay, that wasn’t so unusual perhaps. And resources determined a lot about how a society evolved and what sorts of conflicts could erupt.

Focusing for the moment on the sub-orbital craft, she looked for construction ad powers sources, plus any EM transmissions that might determine their purpose.

The sub-orbital craft were primarily made out of aluminum with titanium reinforcing at key joints. They had short stubby wings to provide moderate lift but also to hold two ion thrusters that could rotate to provide thrusts for lifts as well as acceleration. This didn’t mean that they could perform vertical takeoffs or landings, but they could be used for much quicker takeoffs and provide reverse thrust for shorter landings. The main propulsion were five ion thrusters inside of a large housing in the rear which could be vectored to provide directional thrust to a certain degree. Now curiously enough the craft themselves weren’t giving off any significant power reading except for from the thrusters in reaction mass, but there is a sophisticated energy receiving device on board. This could partially explain the capital’s massive power generation as some of the power is running all of the planets sub-orbital craft.

GM Dread

Curious. The answers only generated more questions in her mind. Teeth pulling at her lower lip, Vora tapped the side of her index finger in the furrow between her lip and chin. So much energy directed to craft without a seeming purpose. It wasn’t obvious why either. It was also one of those details that seemed innocuous but often required watching. Zorell opened a channel. =/\=Astrometrics to Bridge.=/\=

=/\=I’ve been investigating the planet’s technology in relation to its climate and possible societal evolution and I’ve picked up some unmanned suborbital craft. They each contain a powerful receiver that seems to be the focus for some of the large amounts of energy the capital city is generating. It is noteworthy also that a significant portion of resources from other outlying centres are redirected to this capital as well. As of yet I’ve been unable to determine a purpose for these craft, but I thought I would mention it as it seemed… unusual.=/\= Of course there could be a perfectly reasonable explanation, but Vora was mid-investigation so far.
