Everything suddenly changed and it was when Cass had leapt back to her feet that she saw she was alone on the course. But then she spotted the group congregating around Jerrin. Uh oh. Abrams took off at brisk walk towards them.

“He will be,” Vora said, stepping to the side slightly. “But let’s give him a bit of space.”

Heart rate racing, Jerrin feel how hard it was to breathe and that was only reinforcing that strange but familiar sensation inside him. He couldn’t seem to get ahead of it until he remembered that it had happened during the whole dinner making therapy thing on the holodeck with Nox. He let him mind drift back to that moment and to the soothing sensation of the woman’s hand on his.

He finally took a breath.

And then he saw everyone around him and Cassidy walking towards them. Ah crap. “I’m fine,” he grumbled, backing up slightly.

~Jerrin

Cassidy could hear the last bit and could extrapolate what might be going on.

Zorell nodded. “I know. We’re just worried. You can tell us to get lost if you need to,” she told her son with a slight smirk, even though both of knew that wasnot going to happen.

Lt. (j.g.) Zorell, Sciences

Catching his mother’s gaze, Jerrin almost smirked back but something in her eyes told him that she had been through the same thing before. Probably lots of times.

Sharah wasn’t his doctor, and she wasn’t a counselor, but she knew what Jerrin was dealing with something from his past, distant or near she had no idea. She’d dealt with the same thing. She stepped back as if nothing was going on. She grabbed a bag she’d brought with her, opened it and took out several bottles. She deliberately handed one to Ashlyn first. She and Ashlyn both knew that look, they’d both dealt with it personally. Then she handed one to Cassidy, Zorell, and then Jerrin, making sure they all took one. “We’ve been going for a bit. Water, electrolytes and carbs. Sweat and burning calories can make us all a bit unsteady sometimes,” she said to Jerrin. “Every body drink up. Doctor’s orders.” Her voice was very no-nonsense. Panic attacks had a similar effect on the body, forcing a fight or flight response, so the sport drink was good for him no matter what. She turned to Zorell and nodded slightly. “I suggest some gentle stretching while you drink to make sure you don’t cramp up. I’ve got the med kit, but I’d rather not have to use it.” And to emphasize her point, she took several steady sips from her own drink and then moved to an open area and began stretching again, it was obvious she expected the adults to follow suit. Continuation was a good strategy at the moment, if Jerrin wanted to insist he was fine. Let him work it out. Zorell could push the issue later, or Sharah would if his body started showing signs of strain.

Jerrin, sufficiently embarrassed by this point, took the water gratefully. For the moment though he really didn’t have anything else to say.

Ashlyn got the hint really quick and accepted the bottle from Sharah. “Computer, change location, locker room beta.” The area flickered as it suddenly became a room with lockers, benches to rest on, and room to stretch for everyone without being the vastly open space it once was. Additionally, the room was lit with a dim blue light so as not to overwhelm anyone. The spiders and expanse of the beta park were gone and Ashlyn began to run through some stretching on her own, making sure to not face anyone. She didn’t need awkward right now and wasn’t about to let this situation give her that possibility.

Cassidy took a swig from the bottle, feeling the light sweat cooling on her skin. “I want a rematch at some point, by the way. I like to win fair and square,” she said, a gleam in her icy blue eyes.

Abrams, COS

“I’d pay to see that,” Jerrin said before he realized how that might have sounded and quickly took another swig of water, and moved off to a stack of towels. Not that he had gotten all that sweaty after his practice run, but still, it was something to do.

~Jerrin

Sharah laughed, “I’d pay to see that too.” She got up and went over to the interface, she glanced at Cassidy and Ashlyn. She turned back and reset the program. It turned into a huge maze, filled with different parkour obstacles. There were two separate openings, the two sides of the maze were identical from the types of challenges to the difficulty of them. Both paths stayed separate and provided multiple options on how to navigate what was in front of them. Two separate finish lines were at the end. There was a raised platform where Zorell, Jerrin, and Sharah could sit and watch. “No mechanical spiders this time. You two up for it?” She glanced at Jerrin and Zorell and pointed up. “And we get to watch.”

En Fayth, Doctor.
