Dear all,

please let me apologize for my prolonged LOA that I had to hand in very last minute lately (and has already run out again so I showed up AWOL).

I still love writing with you and our lovely Genesis as much as always. You all know that this ship and me go way back and Julien is almost as real a person to me as a real person. His relationships with you are really almost as real to me as real life relationships, especially with those who have been with me on this journey for so many years.

No other hobby has stayed with me that long in my life! That’s not an exaggeration. Writing with you has not only made me a better writer and raised my level of English so that British and American colleagues praised me for it. Yes it actually helped further my career - as my job requires me to talk and write English 90% of the time.
It has given me real life friends who have become close friends outside of STF too. And most importantly my wonderful and amazing girfriend, my beloved Linds.

These past few weeks something wonderful happened in my life and it will change it in a huge way. I’m NOT pregnant, I’m too old for that. It has to do with my career and beyond that - my voluntary involvement in a great cause - where I can actually make a positive change on a rather large scale in the lives of others.
If you are interested to find out more, pls message me on Facebook or email me to mail (at) juliak.de - without the spaces and with an @.

It has reached a point where I became all too aware that I had to make a few hard decisions, because my voluntary involvment will for a long time be almost like a secondary job that I do additionally to the one I get paid for - until both of it merges. Because I love STF so much, I’ve already given up lots of other things over the years and narrowed it down to those who are essential. However now I have to step back from STF in favour of this secondary job - because of the good I can do with it.
I hope you are not upset with me about it.

I will never completely quit STF, it’s too much a part of my life, but I will narrow it down to a non-important character on Lind’s ship. Yes that is right, once Ray has found a new CO for the Genesis I will write Julien out. I won’t suddenly drop it all, but stick around to help with a smooth transition for you all and for the SIM.
And I will make sure as much as I can that the focus for the new CO is on somebody who puts the focus on great writing and character development, not on rank, promotions and hasty decisions. The Genesis has a reputation for being a ship for writers who love storytelling and I hope it stays like that for all of you great writers on this ship.

I think it’s time for Julien to make that big life choice and do the right thing - even if it means leaving his active duty in Starfleet. Just like it is for me. It’s sometimes scary how similar Julien’s life and mine are developing. He needs to do the right thing now, and that’s being there for those who really need him.
In his case that’s his son and his soon-to-be-born daughter.

So, I would like to thank each and every one of you for the wonderful journey we had together. If you miss me come visit me on the Athena, I’m sure LInds won’t mind.
It of course depends on Ray and the new CO, but I’m happy to stick around until Christmas, playing out this transition IC.

And I would love love love to have a final Genesis Christmas party with all of you. After all it’s a year-long Genesis tradition. THis christmas though, one of you has to GM that side-sim.

Love
Julia

Jules thank you for everything. Being on this ship with you has done wondrous things for my writing and the way I approach a Sim. Thank you for that.

AJ
