“Could be Commander… my instinct is to think its a ploy to gain advantage, but I’m trying to fight some of my more suspicious instincts.”

“Sh-shuttle down you mean, sir,” Deeg interjected. He might be an older ‘ensign’ but that just had him a little bolder in speaking to some people. Granted he was still timid on other things. “The Pallosians do not know yet of our transporter technology. That was something we were not yet telling.” That and being a quick ‘out’ in case any of the ‘tour’ had gone South. Inwardly he felt that any commander would have stated their vast and competent experience in first contact negotiations. Studies had shown that most people by far overstated their own abilities. He felt that commanders tended to activate an ego gene in the DNA when they got that extra pip.

Marius smirked, “We were keeping that under wraps for now…”

The computer was able to assess some entries in the Pallas various computer systems. During negotiations, to show that they have nothing to hide, the Pallasians usually remove their gloves. On one hand it allows the parties to assess the truth level of each other, on the other hand, it signifies that “we have nothing to hide.”

GM

He looked down to see how the scans of the system were going. He took care to scan ‘away’ from the home world and anything in the way to avoid them thinking they were spying or attacking them with active sensors. They wanted to know about the system beyond the home world.
- Deeg

Magnus gave the engineer an odd expression. He turned to the Captain with that same look on his face. A mixture of confusion and slight amusement “Well if that’s what I meant then that is what I meant” His perplexed expression faded into that previous slight smile “Although that depends entirely if I’m needed or not” He looked at the Captain once more “I don’t doubt the teams down there are fully capable of dealing with this fairly well” He wasn’t going to address the team till his new Captain gave his orders. He was curious as to what path he would take.

XO

“I want to see what the away’s team got, give them some more rope. Let them impress.”

OOC: Can’t order anything until I get the report of what the naked hands means.

Marius CO
OOC: Are you meaning an IC post, Capt? Or not seeing the GM post above? .. Gene

OOC: I didn’t see an in-character post. So I’m not reporting the information.

OOC:It was the last GM Post saying that removing gloves was a regular thing and a sign of trust, or giving trust. I believe he means IC
Hjortur

OOC: Yes it was supposed to be IC. I am back. Sorry for the delay.

Kenson

IC:

“Just don’t give away the homeworld eh?” Tom quipped from the back of the bridge.

“Yes please don’t do that.”

Luke

The tall man flashed the Internal Secuirty officer a wicked smile as a responce, fading it slightly as he turned to the Captain without a word in response.

Tigresses turned hearing Tom. Of course she did not know it was Tom until she saw him. “ hello LT” she said with a smile then turned back to her work. She know him through letters and video recordings of there conversations. He was one of very few people on the ship she got along with other then Ben of course.
Ensign Tigress

Ben spoke up after looking at the tactical assessment of Pallas customs “Captain Marius the open palm with no gloves on reference is to imply they have nothing to hide Sir.”

Park

“ it would be pritty naive to simply believe the, that sertenly dose not seem very tactically sound at least” Tigress said. Looking up form her consul to Ben.

=^=Did you read that? Theoretically the being gloveless is a sign of trust. It also probably increases their psychic sensitivity so… six of one half dozen of the other. =^= Marius could not help his semi-suspicious nature.

Magnus moved to look over the Tactical officer’s results, nodding as he read the text “No, Lieutenant Park is correct, Ensign” He turned to face the Scientist “It seems that they do use their innate abilities during negotiations but not in an antagonistic way.” He then turned to the Captain “I recommend that Away team one continue their talks, we simply inform them that open gloves are to be expected and in fact is a positive thing.” He said calmly. He was still trying to understand some of the decisions made regarding this first contact. Why were they being so secretive about their technology, there weren’t any regulations or reasonable reasons for it. He wondered what had convinced the crew to take such a paranoid approach.

XO

=/\=McGregor to Genesis. I’ve got a couple of things to update you on from our talks, and a request.=/\=

=/\=Acknowledged. Away Team out.=/\=

Dekker, CNS

=/\=Captain, we’ve learned that the Pallasians have encountered ‘pirates’ in the region. They’ve been sending probes out to nearby systems, but they keep getting drawn in by a planetary body with large gravity. And they want to know if we can help advance their domestic power generation, specifically how we’ve mastered fusion technology.=/\=

COS

Tom’s IntSec instinct tingled.

“Fusion tech.” Tom said from just over the captain’s shoulder, “Old and declassified yet still used in auxiliary power reactors and impulse drives. You may want to ask how far into fusion they’ve already progressed. We could give them a little assistance to improve their safety, but only if they already have functional fusion tech and only within their tech capabilities. Introducing newer more advanced materials would be a breach of security and the prime directive.”
