“That’s odd, but once you have faster than light travel the prime directive no longer applies…” Marius looked at the screen. “Plot an intercept course… and open hailing frequencies, Lets be friends.”

Marius XO

“Hailing frequencies open Commander.” Marishka said calmly.

She was interested to find out if this was a real mystery or something less fascinating.

-Marishka, CIO

“Bringing their image on the main screen,” Dagen said. It wasn’t a ‘full’ screen image but a kind of window in window on the bottom right of the screen so that any comms would not be affected. “Single nacelle. Similar to the old Kelvins but smaller.” Amazing, he thought. How did they dare to venture out into something that fragile. He couldn’t help but smile. They’d be saying the same thing about them in a century or two.

Dagen, CE

Ben looked up at the screen briefly from his station and then back down to see if there was any energy coming from weapons.

Ensign Park, BO Tactical/Security

Sensors indicated that their weapons were offline. Further sensor information came in as they drew nearer. There was one ship with life signs and the other had no life signs.

OOC: I need to take an LOA for a few days as RL will keep me occupied. Should be able to post on Saturday latest. (7 July)
- GM
OOC: Ok, no worries Kenson. Thank you

Dagen’s brow furrowed. “Only one has life signs,” he commented and used a virtual ‘highlighter’ to circle the ship that had the life signs on it. “Checking the other ship with no life signs for damage or any kind of internal … accident.” He scanned that ship. So many things could go wrong in early warp vessels. Even later ones. ‘Remember Christopher Pike’ was an engineering proverb that still resonated. When things went wrong on a ship they often could go very wrong. A radiation spill. Loss of life support. Even a momentary fail of the SIF would really mess with one’s day.

Dagen, CE

Sensors showed there was nuclear radiation at part of the ship. Until they were nearer, the details were not clear.

-GM

Marishka adjusted her hail to make certain it was only going to the ship with life signs. Now it was up to Commander Marius to be friendly as he put it.

Marishka, CIO

David had walked back to his own station, pulling up the sensor data.
“It appears there’s nuclear radiation coming from within the ship but we will need to move closer to determine it’s nature.” He reported.

-David Michaels, CSO

“Sir, I would advise against that.” Ben said sharply. “We do not know how it would affect the ship or the crew.”
Park, BO Tactical/Security
OOC: In this future the effect is known and it’s not a thread anymore, there is a simple vaccine against radiation poinsoning according to Starfleet Canon ;-) - J.

“I’m not to concerned by radiation when we are light years away… but do keep an eye on it.”

Aevin’s hand had been hovering, just about to move them closer and then instead he sat back for the oncoming debate. He knew he would end up going closer. In the Genesis or a small craft. It didn’t matter. Someone would say ‘Aevin, take us closer.’ or ‘Aevin, with me.’ And he’d fly in to check out the radiation.

-Ensign Aevin, Helm

Dagen shook his head as he looked at the data. “Our shielding would protect us from that amount of radiation,” he replied. “We can beam in from a distance that that ship exploding wouldn’t touch us. We can keep our distance and be safe and still know what’s up.”
- Dagen, CE

The computer analysed the data received and posted a probability of 78% that the warp engine was powered by nuclear material. There was a 82.5% probability that the engine was damaged and there was a nuclear leak.

GM

“Oh boy,” Dagen muttered as he read the report from the computer. “Not good.” He scratched his forehead as he tapped out the radiation intensity probability. It was never a good thing to have anything nuclear go bad. “I sure hope they built an ejection sequence into this,” he muttered low.

Swiveling on his chair, he reported, “Sirs, there is a very good chance that they have engine damage and radiation leak. Data suggests, but isn’t conclusive, that their drive was nuclear powered. If something went wrong with that they would have significant issues with radiation and possible nuclear material.”
- Dagen, CE

“Then we might need to get there faster than possible.”
OOC: Just to remind the bridge … hailing frequencies are open and we are still moving …

-GM
Marius cleared his throat. Usually Julien did all the talking he did the fighting. =^=Unidentified Vessels at grid two four point eight eight. This is the USS Genesis, we don’t find many ships out in this area. Nor have we seen many of your type. We would welcome communication… please respond.=^=

He nodded to Operations, “go to warp nine. Check with engineering see if we can get 9.4 for eight hours.”

Marius XO

“Yes sir. Warp nine.” Aevin set the Genesis hurtling through space at a speed he could remember thinking impossible. He sent a text message to engineering. Currently traveling warp 9. Any possibility of 9.4 for 8 hours?
