“You are free to inspect anywhere on the planet to see if we have satisfied the third requirement,” said Neve. “In the area of the second, we have established faster than light travel. What’s left is the first: Do we have a sufficiently advanced level of scientific technology?”

GM

“We can provide a preliminary report to the Federation of the level of technology we observe. We are not equipped to make the determination ourselves. As for your social structure, perhaps a visit to one of your cities would help us gain a broader understanding of your society. If you wouldn’t object, I think our team would be interested in walking among your citizens. Perhaps a public space? A park or a market?”

Dekker, CNS

“That can be arranged. As you are the first from outside Pallas to come, I cannot predict the reaction in a public place,” remarked Neve. “My greatest concern is for your safety as I have already mentioned that there are some who are not welcoming of people who are different. There are those who will be curious, those who would be afraid. I gather that you would probably like the walk through with as little preparation as possible?”

GM

Chan listened to the people in the room “That i why we brought are own security officers. We are all trained to keep each other safe. However if we where to go with a guide, such as yourself or one of the others in the room. the public will probably be more receiving. Seeing their leaders talk and give a tour to outsiders they know nothing about, Will help to alleviate their concerns if they see their leader are safe, they will moist likely feel safer and more conformable around us. Beside the first sign of trouble and we can just fall back to here.” She said trying to think of solution that would keep every one happy. the last thing she wanted was a riot because they where outsiders or something.

Lieut Chan (Sub-DH Robotics)

“That is reasonable,” said Bassa, who looked to Neve who gave a slight nod.

“Then we will make the arrangements now,” said Bassa.

OOC: I’m really sorry for lagging behind. The whole month of May is a challenge for me. I’m in the process of cleaning out my sister’s house to make room for my mom and me, then we are moving across town. Situations change—I’m just trying to roll with the punches.

IC:
Sage thought a tour of a populated area was a good idea. Seeing how the Pallasians reacted to the Star Fleet crew would undoubtedly reveal a more honest cross section of the populace and might be a factor in acceptance into the federation.

“If you think a few of your own guards would ease the temperament of your people, we have no objections to them joining us.” It was an olive branch that didn’t cost a thing. If the Pallasian crowds got out of hand, she was sure the weapons they’d brought down with them would turn the situation in their favor.

David had been biting his tongue, and Riley would be able to sense his unease. But he was committed to the mission and seeing things through, so for now he would play along. But he would most definitely be keeping his eyes and ears open for anything out of the ordinary,

“Very good,” said Neve, “Mr. Bassa, please arrange for our guests to mingle with our people.”

“Where?” asked Bassa.

“We’ll bring our guests in our train transport and whichever stop the guests dictate, we will stop and let them mingle,” suggested Neve.

“Very good, sir” said Bassa.

Some time later, the away team were escorted to a small road vehicle that would bring them to the train station.

GM

As they were escorted from the conference room to the transport vehicle, Riley fell back, the away team following suit. He pitched his voice low enough to avoid eavesdropping.

“I’m sure I don’t have to say this, but for the record any altercations with civilians would be highly problematic. At the first sign of trouble we alert our Pallasian hosts and let them handle it. Our weapons stayed holstered unless you or a member of our team are in imminent harm. Despite our misgivings we are still guests of a people who have treated us well and scared civilians do not change that fact.”

The Counselor knew he was taking a risk by asking to mingle among the people, but he was sure he could gain a less guarded sense of their situation from strangers than their official delegation.

He tapped his commbadge =/\=Away Team One to the Genesis. We are moving into a public space with our hosts to gain a better understanding of their culture. Their ultimate goal seems to be stronger ties with the Federation, including technological exchange, perhaps to the point of application for admission. We are continuing our fact finding mission.=/\=
