When she could tear her eyes from A’naad, she looked at La’kia. “THAT is not resting, but don’t worry. I’m here to pick up my godson and whisk him away for a few hours.” Sage sat down on the floor next to the two. Bringing the clutch forward, she unfastened it to go over the contents with the Zaharan. “There are two hyposprays here. They are both labeled so you won’t mix them up. One is loaded to deliver a preset dose of the safest analgesic for pregnancy that we have now. The second one has an anti-inflammatory in it. I’ve printed out instructions on how often you can dose yourself with them, along with side effects, that if you experience them, you should seek medical attention immediately.”

La’kia had rolled herself to her side and then sat up and frowned slightly. She was okay with self-administering meds, especially since when she was on official duty, she didn’t want to worry about multiple staff getting involved unnecessarily. But she was aware that her body might react differently than expected.

She saw the look that crossed La’kia’s face. “I don’t expect you to have any difficulties with either medicine. They are very well tolerated by 99.99% of patients. I’ve also made arrangements for one of our medics, NLT Manos, to give you prenatal massage twice a day while you are on the Genesis. She will come to your quarters for it and bring along another JO to entertain A’naad while you receive the treatment.”

“Really?” La’kia was genuinely surprised. It sounded wonderful actually, because as much as the lighter gravity in her quarters helped issues, she couldn’t stay in quarters the entire time she was on the Genesis.

Now she pulled out a small PaDD for personal use. “Remember I said you might want to try acupuncture? I’ve downloaded information on how to do it and the the tools used for it, so you might want look up a neurologist or homeopathic healer when you get back home. All the information they need is here. There’s also a stretching regimen that will help elongate your muscles and tendons. It might be enough to alleviate some of the pain you’re having.”

Taking the PADD, the Zaharan nodded. “That will pretty much cover most doctors on Zahara actually, but the info will help them evaluate how to adapt it and if it will work. But stretching I can do.”

“The last thing is a list of Doctors I would trust to handle the birth. If you’re on Earth, there shouldn’t be a problem, but if you’re somewhere else? Well, I’ve included details of what happened when A’naad was born so whoever might be with you will know what they’re up against.”

She looked at her friend very seriously. “Do your best to be on Earth. Okay?”

—Sage

La’kia gave a lopsided grin. “Since when do I do anything expected?” she joked before adopting a more serious demeanour. “I will arrange it so that I am there in the weeks before I might deliver.

Reaching a hand out and resting it on Sage’s arm, La’kia gave her friend a warm smile. “I appreciate all of this. While everything else is extremely complicated, I feel reassured that there are at least a few things I won’t have to worry about.”

“Mama, play!” A’naad exclaimed, a wide grin on his face.

La’kia turned her attention to her child and made a clicking noise with her mouse. He grinned at her but had a slightly sheepish look on his face. “I can’t right now, but Sage would love to take you on an adventure. Did you want to go with her and play?”

A’naad’s green eyes, so like Julien’s real one, fixed themselves on Sage. “Play?”

She grinned at the boy. “Oh yes! We’ll play and we’ll have some lovely concoction in the lounge before I bring you back to your mama. I also have a bag of things here for you.” She motioned to the satchel slung across her body. “Will you let me take you out for a little while so mama can take a nap?”

—Sage

A’naad looked to La’kia and she gave her son an encouraging nod. The boy looked up at sage and nodded.

“Have fun,” La’kia said with a smirk. A’naad was sensitive at times, much like her, but he had a genuine curiosity about everything around.
