It did match the Pallasian engines.

GM

“Ah ha! As I suspected sir, the warp trail was a match. Checking course and heading for it now. In theory it was heading to the nearest star system.” He spun in the seat looking rather like a pudgy blueberry. “If they were off course perhaps we could help it along to its destination. Give them a little gift.” Bot was in his element. This was fun for him and something he didn’t get to do very much.
- Bot, Eng

“Perhaps we could. Please start downloading the info on this probe here, let’s do our jobs first before tracking down some strangers.” He said before sitting back and opening a channel to the Genesis =^=This is Runabout team 1, We’ve secured the probe and are accessing its information as we speak, we’ve also picked up a Pallasian warp trail leading deeper into unknown space. I was considering taking us in further, try and see where they went”=^=

XO

=^=You’re a little ship, with little firepower. Don’t get yourself shot at or start a diplomatic incident with too much snooping. You just got here, I’d hate to have to get a new XO.=^= Was Marius’ reply. The runabout had better sensors and should be able to out run anything the Pallasian had so the ship should be safe.

Marius CO

OOC: Just a reminder: the trail is probably due to one of the Pallasian probes sent this way. The one you picked up was probably the one which had sent back the data that that indicated that there was an asteroid in its flight path. The corrections to the flight path could not be made in time because of the fact that communications was still only at the speed of light, not subspace.

GM

=^=Understood Captain=^= Magnus said and closed the channel. “ALright lets see where the secondary wwarp trail leads and let us check what information we can gleem from the one we have here. Perhaps we’ll learn something new and interesting.” He said hopeful.

XO

Bot grinned a wide blue grin that showed a lot of teeth. “Confirming course and where that projected course might take it to if it was a straight line course.” Tapping, he continued in a low murmur, “If it was a targeted change by way of the Pallosian control center then it should bank away again after a time to resume its course toward the nearest star.”
- Bot, Eng

OOC: Post needed an addition.

IC: The trail led to about 70 astronomical units (slightly more than 10 billion kilometres) from the nearest star system. It then disappeared. The nearest star system, according to the runabout’s sensors was 2.42 light years away. That part of space was still uncharted by Starfleet.

GM

“The trail for the probe is gone nearest start system is 2.24 lightyears away. You think someone might have picked the probe up commander” Tigress said.
Ensign Tigress

Magnus looked at the screen for a moment then turned to the helm controls “Well unless you’ve got a few days to burn I think it’s a mystery better saved for another day. Access the internal records of that probe, let’s see what it contains” He saw that the Genesis was moving away “Looks like We’re going to be on our own for a while.” He said with a half smile “Let’s make the most of it.

XO

Bot turned about, “Perhaps the probe lost power,” he said. “That would be indicative of the loss of the warp trail. If it had then it would have carried on by its own momentum at sublight speeds in the course that it was last at. We should be able to scan along that path to see if it could be found.” He looked skeptically at Tigress. “We could see if there was any other warp trails about. If anyone picked it up, though I don’t see why anyone would, they would need to have a trail themselves.”
- Bot

“ where’s your spirit of adventure Bot” Tigers said as she started scanning for other warp trails.
Ensign Tigeress

The probe trail ended between 2.5 to 4 light years away. A scan at the area where the trail stopped showed that there were small objects. Unfortunately, the computing power on the runabout could not give conclusive results on the scan. The objects seemed to be spaced quite regularly.

GM

“ The train ends somewhere here, sencers are showing some small objects up ahead want to go check them out or would that be to much adventure for you mister Bot” she said the last part of the statement was a joke.
Ensign Tigeress

Bot turned about in his seat, the chair creaking under him. Too much Bolian partridge stew he thought. He grinned a wide blue grin. “Not quite too much, my feline friend. I agree that we should see what is the mystery here. If the probe exploded then we can bring that information to the Pallasians so they can close that book on it and not label it a mystery for them. Maybe there would be something in their computer log on what happened with their system diagnostics or even video.” He looked to the commander to see what he thought.
- Bot

“Despite our wishes of investigating the probe is too far for us to travel, Even at warp five it would take us at least a week to reach it and I don’t think we’ll be staying that long.” He said with a friendly smile “We can ask the Genesis to take a look when we get back, in the meanwhile please access the probe we do have and see if it has any information for us”

XO

Bot sighed. A mystery not to be explored. Turning in his chair caused it to squeak dangerously. Lifting himself off it he collected a small tool kit from an overhead bin. “Tigress? I can open the door but you have to see what’s behind it,” he said, referring to the probe. He can poke about to find the brains but she needed to access it. Moving toward the pieces of the probe he ran his tricorder over them to scan the pieces. He didn’t know what it looked like originally but the tricorder could do a kind of auto assemble around this to give them the best chance of knowing what was what. When the scan showed where the brains were he pulled out the tools and started looking for a panel or a way in.
- Bot

”umm… We are out of range to contact the Viking aren’t we?” she said as she picked up her scientific tricorder and moved over to the probe. She knows absolutely nothing about robotics and computers. She scanning the probe half hoping that an animal of some kind would jump out of it. Though that was wishful thinking.

There was information that was retrievable. It consisted of the logs of the commands given by the control centre, and a video record. The video record had some skips and distortion due to the damage caused by the crash, but the footage was good considering the damage. The commands from the command centre were usually responses to the video footage.

GM

“Lets look at the video record .. see if we can download and then run a detail search to see if they noted anything beyond dust and rocks.” Seeing that Tigress was more botany, he pulled out cables and worked to hook up the units to take in the information record. “That and if there were any anomalous commands from their center.” He handed her things to plug in and asked, “Can you set up the parameters for the search?”
- Bot, Eng

“Great, and while you two work on that I think I’m going to plot a course back to the Pallean Homeworld. Hopefully, we’ll be in range of the Genesis by then” He said double checking to see if the Genesis was in sensor and/or comm range. “Unless they’ve moved a long long way we should still be able to reach them” He said as he turned the Ship about and set a course back to their original location orbiting the Homeworld.

XO

OOC: Am I right in thinking that we’ve traveled around 0,2 lightyears to get the probes, a distance that took about 8 hours on warp 5? Most of the calculators I can find are old/unreliable so I’m not certain.
Hjörtur

Tigress simply nodded and worked on setting the Parameters for the search. After about five minutes later she spoke ” ok I think we are all set you this electronics stuff is kinda fun” she said.
Ensign Tigress

Magnus smiled “Learning new things can be fun yes, so long as you have at least a modicum of talent for it. That and a great deal of patience” He said as the Runabout jumped to warp.

XO

“You always welcome in The zoology lab. Though you will need to watch your maners offending a tiger is a bad idea” she said to the XO with a grin.
Ensign Tigeress

The shuttle’s sensors showed that the Genesis was no longer near the home planet but was actually some distance away near the colonised planet.

GM

Magnus chuckled at her comment as he read the scan “Alright the Genesis is visiting the Planet the colonized. Seems like they got bored sitting at one spot” He informed his motley crew “We’ll be at the planet in about 8 hours, I recommend you get some shuteye before we get there. A seventeen-hour trip is nothing to laugh at” He said with a slight smile.

XO

Bot stretched and stood up. To Tigress he said, “The search might take some time to get results. Might as well take a ah, cat nap. You first.” He was eyeing the pieces of the satellite. “I want to play a little more and try to put the pieces together better - at least in order of where they might fit.” The PaDD had done a job of that already but it didn’t mean he couldn’t move the pieces about. “I have a thing for jigsaw puzzles and this here is a doozie.”
- Bot

The small craft was completed … at least as much as it was possible to … after some hours. There were parts missing either due to the crash or that some parts were missed when they recovered the craft.
