OOC: Going to get this thread started.

IC: Riley went straight from the shuttle to the briefing room. They had a bit of time to grab a snack or use the facilities, but he was too deep in his thoughts to make his way back to his quarters, even for a brief sojourn. He went to the replicator and ordered a cup of black coffee. The familiar sound of the replicator was reassuring after his sojourn on the alien planet. Cradling the mug he took a seat at the long table.

He knew he’d have to convey the team’s uneasiness with their Pallasian hosts and that, if the other away team had a contrasting experience, he’d have to make his case convincing. In the momentary silence, he replayed their mission focusing on the emotions he felt emanating from each person on the planet. Their overeagerness and keen interest in their technology, coupled with their bared, powerful hands had caused him to briefly evacuate his team from the conference room. Could he ascribe that action to more than a gut feeling? He wasn’t sure. Then there trip out of the confines of the government building and the angry man who’d nearly killed Sage. No planet was completely free of the deranged or violent. Why did he feel that man represented more than an isolated incident? And finally, there was David. He’d shared more than he should and yet it wasn’t enough. Riley trusted his claim, but how could he push it without the underlying evidence.

Altogether he knew his instinctual conclusion, but instinct was rarely enough. He brought the mug of coffee to his lips as he heard the door open.

Dekker, CNS

It was David. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Riley was alone. He walked over to him, a look of desperation in his eyes.

“Tell me what to do,” David said, putting a hand on Riley’s arm. “I know things.” He sighed. “I just can’t go around spouting off my future knowledge.” He looked deep In Riley’s black eyes. “Please. Just tell me what to do.”

-David Michaels, CSO

Riley put a hand on David’s shoulder giving it a squeeze, “I can’t make a decision like this for you. Once you open the door, once you cross that line, you can’t walk back behind it. “

Dekker, CNS

A few minutes later, Sage entered the briefing room. She felt an unusual tension between Riley and David when she walked in. Stopping just inside the door, she cleared her throat, “Should I give the two of you a few minutes? I could wait outside…” She only offered because they were her friends and with couples, you didn’t always get to choose the best time for serious matters.

—Sage

“No, no, it’s nothing serious,” David said, flashing a bit of a disappointed frown. He then moved to his usual seat on the opposite side of the table from Riley and took a seat.

Marius walked in so quickly that it almost appeared that he was storming in… He looked at the assembled people. Not quite everyone was there but he’d work with what he had and would add the rest as it came together. “What do you know, and what do you think?” He separated the two as he wanted both sets of information but the also wanted them to make the distinction.

Marius

David looked over at the Captain and raised his eyebrows, but didn’t say anything. He glanced over to Riley, hoping that he’d take the lead on offering up their report of the situation.

Reia hadn’t had the chance to make it to her quarters so she ducked into her office and wolfed down a piece of mango cheesecake. Just the type of luxury to combat the bland food. Unfortunately it meant she arrived after the Captain.

Stepping in, she silently took a seat and waited for others to speak.

  • Reia, CIO

Chan was next to arrive. she had been rushing to the briefing room when she had collided with an NE and i delayed her just enough for her to be late. However she quickly took a seat and got ready for the briefing. she wondered what would be mentioned from the away team. she hoped her outburst would not be noted but she ad a horribly feeling that wouldn’t be the case. She also bet that only her action would be noted, and not one else’s.

Lieut Chan (Sub-DH Robotics)

When Magnus noted that the people were arriving he gave the final instructions to the Bridge Crew then joined the Senior Staff in the Briefing room. He moved to a seat near the end of the table. HE looked at the Captain “According to the early reports; Team one” He indicated to Dekker and Micheals “Received Credible information that suggests the Pallasians may have ulterior motives regarding Federation Technology. Team two said that although their planned tour went swimmingly, when they started improvising our going of script things started to appear more truthfull, less sugarcoated” He told the Captain to give him atleast a few starting points.

XO

It wasn’t much of a surprise to David that the other team had encountered some oddities as well. He sat back in his chair, waiting for either Riley or someone from the other team to speak up.

-David Michaels, CSO

Dagen had entered with the XO and took a seat where he could which was closer to the front as people tended to populate the ‘back’ of the room first. Just like school. He figured he might as well start the ball rolling. “The tour was fundamentally scripted to show off what they had. Their power centers were nuclear. For what they had they did well with squeezing out as much efficiency as they did. They indicated they were having issues with pollution control and wanted to move to a better form of energy. They were almost pleading for help in that area. It was when we side toured to a recreational facility. I was expecting it to be a more open concept but it looked more like a kind of reform area. The government appeared to have a firm control on behavior and the lives of the people. As much as they said that there was variety and freedom of choosing one’s vocation I got the impression that the populus was very scrutinized and elements that may bring out undesired behavior - like team sports generating violence - was removed.”
Dagen, CE

Marius looked at the Chief Engineer curious why the others had said so little. “Its not surprising that they have these scientific and industrial issues.” Shrugging slightly when he spoke. “The Federation rarely makes these judgements on the industrial competency. I’m more curious about the population control… Is the general view point positive about this sort of .. ” He searched for the word, “personality control?” It wasn’t for him to judge what was right for the people of a planet.

“Perhaps the ‘pirates’ are the rebels against the system.”
