Marius happily took the drink and a swig from it feeling the slight burn as it rushed past his tongue into his belly. “I always knew I didn’t like paperwork and personalities, this job just proved it.” He admitted what everyone already knew about him. “It’s mentally exhausting… it’s like listening to Klingon Opera all day… the clanging and the wailing.”

He topped off his complaint with a matching kiss for Sage. It had been a long time and while he had controlled his urges, like a starving man who could go days without eating the second the food was placed in front of him his mouth started watering. “I see you ‘undressed’ for dinner.” He could not mistake the slight tug at her robe belt. People said Calvin had no ability to read emotional signals but he was able to pick that one up… he thought proudly.

“Yes, I undressed for dinner because I didn’t want to waste any time—that is…if you’re of a mind to call a truce for the night?” She missed Calvin. They shared the same living space, but that was about all they’d been sharing since his promotion. They avoided speaking to each other most of the time, too, and Sage was lonely. She imagined he was too, but she’d been wrong before. “What do you say, Babe?”

—Sage

“I have to consult with my minster of marriage.” He tilted his head slightly to the right, as if someone was whispering to him. After a short pause. “Yes,” he said loudly for effect. “I do wholeheartedly agree for a truce… and for the sake of interstellar peace… we are prepared to offer a complete cessation of all hostilities effective immediately. Pending verification, of course, that you are unarmed…” He raised an eyebrow.

“This verification will have to be done manually.” He put down his drink and rubbed his hands together warming them.

Marius

Her smile was ripe with possibilities. “Oooooo, well I wouldn’t want to stand in the way of interstellar peace.” She took a step back from him and raised both arms out to her sides. The robe was pulled open further by her posture. “I willingly submit to the verification.” Sage felt her heart rate speed up at the imminent touch she knew was only seconds away. It had been too long since Cal had had his hands on her.

—Sage

He was pleased he could work up an appetite before dinner and while he couldn’t help but be excited by this eventuality he was more pleased about the thawing of relations between him and his wife. “Close your eyes.”

Sage swallowed, then closed her eyes as she’d been told.

Anticipation was often worth more than the act. He stood in front of her for a moment just letting her ‘feel’ his presence without out knowing exactly where he was at. He leaned in slowly, his warm breath touching her cheek and then her neck.

Her skin ran with goose bumps as a breath shuddered out of her. She could smell Cal, not the light cologne he wore, but the essence of his unique biology. She could also feel the pressure of his presence even though he had yet to touch her.

He slowly reached the flaps of her robe opening it and sliding his hand along the cloth but not touching her before moving slowly and touching her side at the waist then running his fingers up towards her shoulders with a flickering motion.

Marius

Something between a sigh and a pleasurable squeal escaped Sage’s throat. She had to pull her hands into fists to keep from reaching out to run her hands over her husband, but tonight was about healing a rift, so she made herself hold still.

OOC; I’m going to do a little fade out and back in.

IC: Calvin was somewhat disappointed by his energetic but comparatively brief performance. It had been a while. He smiled somewhat guiltily. “Umm, sorry. Some say its a complement.” He apologized. “I’ll be a little more impressive after the fine meal you prepared.”

He leaned in touching her forehead with his. He turned his head slightly looking at the table possibly trying to divert attention. “Steak, fries, and coleslaw.” He paused. “How many crunches will I have to do to get my abs back after that.”

She lay beneath him, one side of her mouth turned up in the slightest smile. She knew he was underwhelmed with his performance, but it had been intoxicating just the same. They were both breathless and happy and knew there would be more love making in the hours to come. As her hands traced their way up his sides, she grinned. “Babe, trust me, I’m not complaining.” Because he knew her so well, Cal could hear the truth of her words in the sound of her voice. “I’m glad we called a truce…I don’t like it when we argue.” Arching up, she kissed him deeply and then fell back onto the pillows.

Sage traced the lines of his mustache and goatee with one finger. “And just to make sure that nothing goes wrong tonight, we aren’t allowed to talk about anything serious. Okay?”

—Sage

Another wonderful decision that he would support wholeheartedly, “You don’t have to talk me into that stipulation.” Calvin and Sage made both a perfect and odd couple at the same time. No one could look at them physically and not see why they were naturally attracted to each other, each being impressive specimens of the species. However, where Sage was warm, friendly, and inviting, Calvin was cold, distant, and aggressive. Where Sage was emotional, Calvin at best was pragmatic.

“When we have time to talk, we can discuss this meal,” He looked at her admiringly, “This view, and how much I love you. I Enjoyed the two months I spent fighting Recorian eels in the swamps of Reco II more than I enjoyed the two weeks of us being distant.”

Marius

“The eels aren’t that bad,” He made a stabbing gesture with the steak knife, “Through the gullet, then pull down… Its the swamp… the slime…”

“Well, I’ve never fought any eels, but I get it. I haven’t enjoyed it either.” How many times had they argued or disagreed vehemently and denied themselves the pleasure of the other for days on end? ‘Way too many.’ She thought as she wiggled her way out from under him and sat up in the bed. “Well, we aren’t taking any chances tonight. All that’s allowed is eating, drinking, making love and sleeping.” Leaning in, she kissed him and gave him a mild slap on his impressive belly. “Give me a minute and I’ll be right back with dinner.

“Why so rough,” He said in mock pain. “If you like the rough stuff....” He reached out.

She had to dart out of his reach quickly in order to leave the confines of the bed and not be pulled back into it. Successful, Sage walked out of the room naked, gathering her hair into a knot at the crown of her head with just fingers. A few moments later, she returned with a steaming plate of food in each hand, a bottle of wine under one arm and two glasses dangling from their stems between her fingers.

“Lookie, lookie you beautiful hunk of dark chocolaty goodness. I’ve got everything we need right here.”

—Sage

“Everything I needed was in the bed before you got out.”

Marius couldn’t imagine how they could eat all that food in bed. He stood and removed the light from each night stand on either side of the bed. The rest in the way he just slid off. “I must have been a saint in a previous life, so I’m getting my reward in this one.” He started helping her putting the plates in various locations to spread out the numerous items. “Likewise, my next incarnation is going to be very unhappy because I intend to sin every moment of every day with you.”
