Main Science Lab - Staff Meeting side sim on USS Genesis

Posted July 31, 2018, 2:15 p.m. by Ensign Niniane Fahr (Science) (Julia Hager)

: : : David had sent a memo to all science personnel advising them of a full department staff meeting at 1900 in the main lab. He stood near the center of the lab, by the main workstation, awaiting everyone to arrive. He thought it would be good for them to converse with each other and this way he could get updates on each sub-department and what things they were working on. Reading reports was one thing, hearing it from the mouths of those who worked under him gave him a better feel for the morale and status of the division as a whole.

: : : “Sir,” NE Walters said, coming up to David. “We were having a problem regulating the neutrino levels in the soil samples we devised for the blue Algolian potatoes.”
: : :
: : : David nodded. “I will come and take a look at your research tomorrow morning.” He said, giving a smile.
: : :
: : : “Thank you,” she said, scurrying off. David let out a chuckle, and kept his eyes on the door for the rest of his staff to arrive.

: :
: : Niniane was too early for the meeting, but that was ok, she had wanted to check on a culture of Teramites that she was preparing for an experiment anyhow. On her way she gave NE Walters a wave.

: David walked over to Niniane. “Hey there,” He said, heaving a sigh. Running such a large department on a ship was something he was more than capable of, but sometimes it did become a little overwhelming.
:
: “How are you?” He asked her, realizing they hadn’t had much time to catch up lately.
: -David Michaels, CSO

She gave David a smile, her blazingly blue Denobulan eyes full of energy. “I’m very well, thank you. I’m really excited that we’re finally doing what this ship was built for! When I read the past mission logs of the Genesis it felt more like I was boarding a battle cruiser!” she said and laughed.

Tigress entered the main labe unfortunately she was cleaning cages and had a ring tailed lemur sitting on her shoulder.” Don’t get angry I was In the middle of cleaning his cage, hi Niniane how are you” Tigress said. The Lemur looked around the room cerously. He was a juvenile and not to keen on leaving Tigress how had earned the animal trust impossibly fast.

The half Trill smiled at Tigress. “Hello Tigress, I’m great thank you. It’s been ages since I last saw you. I guess this, more than anything, proves how huge the science facilities on this new ship are.” she said and gave a laugh.

“ yah that might also be my fault I prefer animals to humans there so much easier to understand” she said with a smile.
Ensign Tigress

Niniane nodded, her blue eyes full of mirth. “That is true.” she said. “But they can’t answer you.” she added and winked.

David smiled as the two women. “So Tigress, how are your animals holding up?” He had given her a little liberty in acquiring animals for study and research. He wasn’t as strict as other department heads when it came to reports and such. He much preferred hearing things from the crew themselves.

“ there fine well except Midnight he has been a dit moody lately, but the others are perfectly fine happy as always. Do you know what are current mission is sir” Tigress asked. She had always been thankful for the freedom the CSO had given her. Her research was well documented thow her notes could be hard to understand as she had a tendency to jump from topic to topic with seamingly no time or reason. But her abilitie to train animals as well as understand them and there habitats was unparalleled. Midnights behavior however had her stumped. “ Sir what were your fealds of study again, perhaps it would be helpful to have an outsider come look at some of the enclosures and behaviors of the animal. I may be missing sumthing, particularly with midnight” she added after a moment.
Ensign Tigress

“Deep exploration,” David said, his lips curling into a slight smile. “As for me, I’ve dabbled in many different areas of study, although I suppose you could say my field of expertise is in temporal sciences. Being from the future and all.” He looked over at Niniane and gave a wink.

“I’d be happy to take a look at your animals sometime,” David said. He turned towards Niniane. “And what are we growing in the botany labs?”

-David Michaels, CSO

Niniane shrugged. “I’m just working on my different experiments, trying to supplement the arboretum with some more vegetables that we can eat. I really hope we’ll find an undiscovered planet with flora on it soon, I’m starving for something new to explore and I’m sure Tigress is too, finding a new species of animal life…” she said and smiled at the Caitian.
