Oddly enough shortly after the emergency tigress entered the medbay looking for LT. Brennan. It took tigress a matter of seconds to load where sage was. She walked up to sage ” is now a bad time I I can bother later” she said wrinkling her nose. ” from smell I would stay it is let me guess plasma Burns” she asked.
Ensign tigress

Looking out on the bay and watching the daily business from the doorway of her office, Sage sipped at a cup of coffee in her hands. “Ensign Tigress—yes, we had a severe case of burns about two hours ago. How can I help you today?”

—Sage

Tigress smiled. “ i can’t just come to say hi, as much as I wish that were the case, I was actually hoping you could hear with midnight. He managed to be his paw stuck in the bars of his enclosure, I got him free of course and is now limping I’m afraid something might be broken. We wont know with out a scan.” She said with a smile. It was extremely unusual for one of Tigress animals to hurt themselves even More so for midnight. But the ensign was usually on top of shush things.

“ also have you seen Ben recently I’m concerned about him. She added.

Ensign Tigeress

It would have been odd if the Caitian had stopped just to say ‘hi’, because the two of them were only casual acquaintances, so Sage was already moving to dispose of the cup in her hands as Tigress explained the real reason for the visit. Midnight. As Sage gathered the things she would need to make a ‘house call’, she wondered whether the big cat would need to be sedated for the exam.

“Will Midnight allow the treatment? Do I need to worry about my safety?” Aware that the big cat was usually allowed to run free in the lab Tigress worked in, the doctor wasn’t sure how he/she would react to a stranger while in pain.

—Sage

“ He is currently in his enclosure we may have to sedate him though I would prefer not to. Big cats don’t do well under sedation. I won’t let him Hurt you Doctor I know how to speak his language he will give warnings before he responds with aggression. “ she said calmly she know the crews tendency to be afraid of the cat. But he was a big sweet hart he loved people.

“ you know he is only dangerous right now because he is hurt right? He is usually friendly you can ask the captain about his encounter with him if you want” she offered. She did not want sage to think he’s possibly bad attitude right now was normal.
Ensign Tigeress

“Yes, I’m familiar with the side effects of pain, Ensign.” Still, Sage made sure she had a sedative loaded into a hypospray she put in the pocket of her jacket. The other tools were carried in a small, padded bag. After informing NECraig where she was headed, the CMO walked out of sickbay with the Caitain to treat her huge cat. You had to be flexible as a doctor, she thought to herself.

“ you are aware that most people on the ship are afraid of him right Lieutenant” she said.

“Alright, let’s go see Midnight.”

—Sage

“ thank you I would treat it myself but I don’t have the knowledge to” Tigeress said as they entered the Zoology lab sage would note a large number of animals from different planets. Most of witch were individuals that like midnight could not be realized for one reason or another. The big cat’s enclosure took up a good portion of the zoology lab. The cat about toe feet in the enclosure just across from the door of his enclosure his front right paw swollen. He lifted his head and offered Sage a low growl. He made it fairly clear he was not in a good mood and did not want visitors.

Tigeress approached and opened the door to the cats enclosure. She knelt down on the cats left side and pet him.” She is here to help be nice” she said. The cat glared at her bit did not move. Tigeress gestured for sage to come close to the animal. Midnight would not move but he would watch the Doctor approach.

Ensign Tigeress

Trying to remember everything she’d ever read on big cats, Sage avoided looking Midnight in the eyes and approached slowly, making no sudden movements. One hand was in her pocket on the hypospray containing the sedative, just in case.

Following the example of Tigress, she moved into the enclosure and placed herself on the other side of the big cat, setting her med kit down within reach. She wanted to wait a few seconds to let Midnight smell her and decide she wasn’t a threat, before touching him.

—Sage

” shh.... Midnight she here to help” Tigress said wail petting the cat. midnight growled then turned his attention to licking his injured paw. for now he was ignoring the CMO.

Ensign Tigress

After a moment or two, Sage slowly reached to stroke the uninjured paw, hoping to introduce herself a little at a time to Midnight. Every few seconds, she allowed herself to run her palm over a larger area until she was caressing the length of the entire front paw. After another short wait, the doctor began to hum softly. It had the calming melody of a child’s lullaby, but it was actually a classical tune she practiced ballet movements to. The whole endeavor was to encourage the big cat to trust her. As she kept petting the uninjured limb, Sage opened the medical kit with the other hand and drew out the tricorder. The device shouldn’t cause any reaction in Midnight as it was non invasive, but Sage waited a moment for her to smell and taste it.

—Sage

The cat did not calm. He remained tense. He did smell the try tricorder when she held it in front of him. He then want he’d as she scanned his foot. He was still calm for the moment. But the big cats body was tense and he couldn’t pounce at any moment. Tigress has started to him the toon as well. She was petting the large cats back.

The trycorder showed that the cat had Indeed broken several of his meditarcels. There was also some minor soft tissue damage on the bottom of his paw. The crazy cat had gotten his paw stuck and broken it in his frantic attempts to free himself.

Ensign Tigeress

Once Sage saw the results on the machine, she looked at Tigress. “I need to physically examine the injuries now and I can’t promise it will be painless. Should I give Midnight the sedative to help him relax? And how much should I be worried about him injuring me?”

—Sage

Crystal looked at midnight then at sage. She did not like the idea of using a sedative on him. But she know him to well to take the risk of sage getting hurt. “ as much as I don’t like the idea sedating him is safer and less stressful for both of you” she said.

The entire time she had been reading the cats body language. He was broadcasting pain and anxiety at a stranger in his Territory wail he was hurt. “ the fact that he has not relaxed yet on his own tells me he’s not going to. He could very easily hurt both of us. How fast acting is the seductive” she asked.

Ensign Tigeress

The doctor nodded and slipped the hypospray from her pocket. One quick ‘hiss’ later and Midnight was sedated. Before beginning the physical exam, Sage re-loaded the hypo with another dose, just in case. Then she set about feeling the giant paw in order to understand how to reset the broken bones.

BUMP

Ooc: I’m sorry for the delay.
Christina

Midnight growled but did not get the chance to try and attack the CMO. He was put cold. The cmo did find that she could move the broken bones easily enough. The question was getting them aligned just right with out cousins fit her soft tissue damage. “ he did actually brake it didn’t he” Tigeress asked.
Ensign Tigeress

OOC: Hey, no problem. Life happens :)
IC:
Sage manipulated the metatarsals in the paw. “Yes he did, actually. I feel three bones that are damaged.” While the cat was out, she took a biopsy from the ulna in the same arm and inserted it into the small sample window of the bone knitter. “Most of my equipment is calibrated to human standards. I just want to make sure that the knitter uses the proper match for Midnight.” After a short wait, the instrument beeped, meaning it had scanned the sample and was ready to replicate the elements of feline bone to heal the breaks in the cat’s paw. As she held one of the broken bones in place, Sage got Tigeress to hold the knitter above the damaged area until the first bone was knitted. The two repeated the process for the other two.

The CMO ran another scan to see the progress they’d made and was pleased to announce. “Excellent job, Ensign. It looks like Midnight will be fine when he wakes up. I’m going to administer an anti-inflammatory to deal with some of the swelling and also a shot of antibiotics.” She proceeded to load the hypo twice with different medications and inject them into the sleeping feline.

After another scan to check vital signs, Sage crawled out of the cage. “Okay, the paw is healed and I’ve given him everything he should need to speed up his recovery. The sedative should wear off in about…” here she checked her wrist chronometer. “About eight minutes. After that, he can resume any activity he likes. On the off chance he favors the paw for a little while, that’s normal, but he might just forget it was every hurt.”

—Sage
