Tom sat at his desk. The package was neatly wrapped next to the door. The chair the XO had expressed interest in was finished.

=^=Commander Pétursson. Tom Jarvis. Please come to my quarters.=^=

=^=On my way=^= The Commanders voice came almost immediately. He had just been sitting in his quarters when he received the call. He quickly went to a small lockbox he kept under his bed and removed the small notebook and placed it in his pocket.

A few minutes later he was outside the IntSec office and pressed the chime.

As his finger reached for the chime the door shooshed open.

“Come in Commander.” Tom said from next to the replicator with a sandwich in his hand, “I was just getting myself something to eat. Would you like something?”

If Magnus looks at the panels floating over Tom’s desk, he’d see one with a video feed of the corridor in front of Tom’s door.

Magnus smiled at the floating panel “I wouldn’t say no to a chicken-grape salad” He said turning his smile to the unfamiliar stranger. “I believe I have a recipe on file, check my public salad replicator files” He sat down in a chair on the other side of the IntSecs officer’s desk. He opened his notebook and started scribbling, this time however he didn’t seem to be writing but drawing.

A few moments later the tom set a tray before Magnus. It had the main body of the salad in a bowl with the toppings arrayed around in smaller dishes and the dressing in a small decanter.

Moving to the other side of the desk, Tom waved his hand, in a small gesture, and the panels floating above the surface dropped into the surface and seemed to arrange themselves into a mosaic that seemed to be just below the surface.

Toms tray was a simple sandwich apparently of turkey, cheese, mayonnaise, onion, bell pepper, and pickle on a sub roll.

“Thank you for coming. Forgive the informal greeting but I wasn’t expecting you so soon. I thought there would be a few more minutes.” Tom said with a smile that seemed genuinely friendly.
