Ben hurried from his quarters with the box containing the rings in his hand, he needed to find T’Lora and see if the rings would need resizing, plus a couple of dozen other things. He would have to sit down with T’Lora and make a list. “What first?” he thought. “probably need to tell Cdr McGregor and see when the Captain would be able to perform the ceremony, then decide simple or elaborate, and oh yeah, the rings.”

Ben - In a somewhat befuddled state

Ben decided to find T’Lora first and see about the rings. There was a slight possibility that the rings might fit without resizing, he recalled that his grandmother and T’Lora were about the same height but wasn’t sure on hand size. He headed to sickbay where he presumed T’Lora was probably at.

Ben

T’Lora was in Sickbay, although she hadn’t been needed all shift. “The only job where no work is good.” She laughed a bit, drawing the attention of an NE Nurse. “Something my father used to say.” She said to him, and he nodded and moved on.
-T’Lora - Setting the scene for you

Ben saw T’Lora sitting at a desk in the office area of Sickbay and headed that way. “T’Lora, good I found you. I have the rings and wanted to see if they need resizing.” He produced the small velvet box, opened it and set it on the desk. Taking the engagement ring out, holding it in the fingers of his right hand, he took T’Lora’s left hand and slid the ring on her finger. The fit was perfect, no adjustment would be necessary. “I guess this makes it official, we’re engaged.” He stared down at the ring then at T’Lora, scarcely believing this woman would soon be his wife. He also noticed that she seemed more open and less hesitant. “Just want you to know that I love you.” He kissed her on the cheek. “I’ve got to find Cdr. McGregor, have you told Doctor Brennan yet ?”

Ben - Glad the stage was set.

T’Lora smiled up at him. “Ben,” she greeted warmly. “I haven’t told her, all though I have no doubt she’ll notice this.” She nodded to the ring with a smile. “I have something for you as well.” She reached around her neck and undid a clasp, taking off a small silver chain. It had a long pendant, a metal cylinder with delicate Vulcan script around it. “I have the other. That one was my father’s.” She pulled an identical pendant out of the neckline of her uniform. “The writing says “with me despite all distances.” It is similar to an engagement ring.” She blushed. “A V’tosh Ka’tur tradition.”
-T’Lora

Ben took the chain and placed it around his neck, tucking it into his uniform, it was still warm from laying next to T’Lora’s skin. “Actually, I have something for you also. I had meant to give it to you later as an engagement gift but now seems like the perfect time.” From his pocket he brought out a silver bracelet. “I had this made for you.” The bracelet was slender and had Vulcan script incised into it in gold letters “Nash-veh ashaya du weht nash-gad do za-gad, hi ri u’ mau u’ fa-gad”, which meant “I love you more today than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow.” He handed the bracelet to T’Lora. “I hope you like it.”

Ben

T’Lora smiled. “It is beautiful.” She gave Ben a gentle kiss. “I have 3 hours and 28 minutes left on this shift. I will attempt to inform Doctor Brennan before the end of it.” She clasped the bracelet carefully around her right wrist. “What have you been doing?”
-T’Lora

Ben also smiled and returned T’Lora’s kiss. He teased, “You know we’re not supposed to do this on duty, well.......I’m not on duty yet so it’s ok for me to kiss you at least.” He sat on the edge of her desk. “I’ve been searching for rings, having a bracelet made for you, searching for Cdr. McGregor, standing watch on the bridge, trying to remember all the stuff that goes into a wedding. Other than that, nothing much. How about you ?”

Ben - Starting to become a bit frantic.

“I was with the counselor this morning, and then on duty immediately after.” She smiled teasingly. “So what does go into planning a wedding?”
-T’Lora

“I wish I knew, and I guess it really depends on what sort of wedding you’d like. As for myself, I’m good with anything, it can be as simple or as elaborate as you want. The ball, as they say, is in your court.”

Ben - Starting to wish they’d just elope.

T’Lora sighed. “Perhaps we ought to let someone else plan it.” She rubbed her face with her hand. “I suppose we can make it an open invitation and have the captain say whatever it is he has to say.”
-T’Lora

Ben sighed. “How about this? We have the ceremony in the lounge with an open invitation so who ever wants to come can , and afterward we can have a small reception there in the lounge. Have you thought about where we’re going to live ? I think married crew members have a slightly larger quarters, otherwise we’re going to be really cozy.” Ben grinned, “Of course there’s nothing wrong with cozy.”

Ben

OOC: Sorry it took so long, I couldn’t get to my computer.
IC:
T’Lora smiled. “That sounds wonderful Ben.” She paused for a moment. “Logically, it would be best to move.”
-T’Lora

OOC: No problem, glad it was nothing major.

Ben loved it when T’Lora smiled, and she seemed to smile a lot more lately. “Great, let’s let our department heads know, and see when the Captain is available.”

Ben

“For now, I need to finish my shift, and you need to find Commander McGregor.” She pushed him lightly towards the door. “Stop distracting me from my duties, sa-kugalsu.” She was joking of course, she wasn’t really distracted, but she did need to finish her shift. “By now all the nurses know we are engaged, and that means the whole ship will know soon.” She smiled lightly. “Ought to say something before the gossip makes it to the Department heads.”
-T’Lora

Ben grinned and allowed T’Lora to shove him out the door. Actually he wondered if she could still shove him out the door if he resisted, Vulcans were normally stronger than humans by a good degree. He decided he didn’t want to test it anytime soon. “I’ll go find the Commander and let him know, then see about when the Captain would be free.” Ben gave her a quick kiss on the forehead and headed for the turbolift.”
