As per Genesis tradition there was an end of the year Celebration. Interestingly enough so many of the Federation races had a holiday situated on or near the last day of the year. Of course the end of the year varied, but somehow it worked out.

“Ahhh Macarena”

Calvin not surprisingly was the first person to arrive at the post mission - end of the year celebration. In year’s past they’ve had the “White Party” and multiple full dress uniform gatherings, but Calvin wanted to see some personality in this one.

Not one for ‘dressing’ up Calvin could clean up pretty well. He wore a light pink soft sport’s jacket with a white shirt underneath, with perhaps one too many buttons undone. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/71/f5/96/71f596414806df5c482d6ce742182e83–terry-crews-terry-oquinn.jpg. He listened to the hard staccato thumps of the 1990 music pumped through the intercom while he sipped a glass of sugar-less pink lemonade (He thought it went well with his jacket).

V’Lath arrived at the party early and saw that so far it was only he and the Captain. He had no idea as to what to wear to such an event, but after a bit of research had come up with an outfit he hoped would pass. He was wearing a pair of faded and slightly torn blue-jeans, a black shirt open at the collar to display the several gold chains he was wearing, this was topped by a red leather sports jacket and a pair of gold framed glasses with reflective lenses. He had a large mug of Vulcan coffee in his hand which he raised in greeting to Captain. (He felt totally ridiculous, and considered asking if they had hot chocolate available.)

V’Lath

Somehow Reia always found herself at a party before, or after, her new husband. The Genesis always kept them both very busy but oh the time they managed to spend alone together.

She had done quite a bit of research on 90s fashion and hoped that she had pulled together something passable beginning with red stiletto heels, gold woven ankle bracelet, white thigh high fishnet stockings, cotton candy pleated micro-mini skirt, and a filmy white halter that tied at her right shoulder with an intricate knot. She had brushed her silken hair back and had a red bandanna, tied in a large bow, as a signal to her husband that she could be his Christmas present.

=^=You’re late again sweetie. Crawl out of those engines and get into the shower please.=^= she whispered softly.

Dagen was late. He had been trying not to think of the party. Not that that was a problem for the sociable Trill, but the theme of the party. 1990’s? That was right smack in the middle of the Eugenics Wars. Does he dress up like one of the augments? Which is what? He had been teasing about in that dilemma for a while before hunkering down to try to get something. =^= Shower alone? =^= he replied with a wink she could not see but perhaps in his tone. =^= Working on it. =^=

Stepping further into the room she saw the Captain and the Counselor.

“Wow! This is… Um… Different.”

  • Reia

V’Lath noticed the new arrival and all though he was not much of a mixer, decided he would try and be more forthcoming. He took a sip of his coffee and approached the new arrival. “Welcome, we’ve met on the bridge but haven’t met socially. I am V’Lath, the new counselor.” V’Lath slid his glasses down his nose and peered over them. “That is a most fetching costume you are wearing.” He pushed his glasses back up on his nose. “Could I get you a drink or refreshments ?” V’Lath hoped more people would show up soon. He was feeling a bit conspicuous at the moment.

V’Lath

Reia remembered seeing V’Lath on the bridge several times and knew she was probably due for a counselling review. Hopefully he would bring it up tomorrow.

“Yes, I’ve noticed you too. My name is Reia. I’m the CIO. Pleased to meet you. I hope you’re finding this place to be welcoming, I certainly have.” she said with a smile thinking of her recent wedding.

Dagen entered. His search didn’t run very well. It seemed, pre war, that it was either very casual or very formal. He chose to be posh on this one, coming in with the equivalent of a tailored black tuxedo, well shone shoes, pressed white shirt and bow tie. The contrast was starker with his light complexion though mixed well with his Trill spots and dark salt and pepper hair. His eyes tracked to find Reia and smiled when he saw her. A small ironic thought crossed his mind in thinking that he was dressed up for this but that their impromptu wedding was on a beach.

On the way over he snagged two drinks. One was a scotch on the rocks for himself, and the other a faux non-alcoholic champagne for Reia. Carrying them over he noted her particularly stunning ensemble .. complete with a bow. She looked to be with the new counselor. “Hello, love. Got her as fast as I could. I wasn’t sure quite what to wear for a nuclear conflagration.” He kissed her shoulder and whispered softly in her ear, ‘you look yummy’ before handing her her drink. Looking up at V’Lath he said, “I don’t believe we’ve met before. I’m Dagen.” He’s a tall one, Dagen thought.

V’Lath was relieved that people were starting to appear and realized that the latest arrival was the husband of the young lady he was previously talking to. “No we haven’t, I am V’Lath, the new counselor on board, very pleased to meet you.” V’Lath removed the sunglasses and hung them from the pocket of his jacket. “I haven’t had a chance to meet many of the crew yet, but am looking forward to it. I have been studying medical records and case files and noticed that you are a joined Trill, I hope that we can meet and discuss the symbiotic relationship sometime. It is fascinating to me.” V’Lath realized he was rambling and letting his interest in different psychological profiles peak out. “I am sorry, I tend to get caught up in my work and let it monopolize my actions. Again I am very pleased to meet you and your very charming wife.”

V’Lath

Dagen had long since brushed over others’ fascination with joined Trills. He was quite surprised that she had overlooked the Enterprise injury that included the death of his brother with him. That typically had been a ‘jewel’ for counselors to make a study of, so this attention to Thor was refreshing. He raised his glass in a silent salute and took a long sip. “One of these days Thor is going to want to be the spokesman of such an appointment. Talk from his view rather than my impressions.” The collar on his shirt was a bit stiff, he just noticed, but he could ignore that for now. Not like turtlenecks which tended to be more constrictive - but then he liked them better. “What was your focus when you were studying?” he asked. One’s ‘thesis’ subject was often a doorway into the persons’ personality and interests.

Reia accepted her glass and took a small taste. She could always tell the real from the synth but had decided not to drink too much in public. She giggled slightly as Dagen kissed her and whispered.

“Just bring me a glass of the real stuff when it’s time to go.” she whispered back admiring his choice of outfit. Her husband was even more handsome than the XO.

  • Reia

Standing near Reia Dagen was pleased to see others come in after him. Good, he wasn’t that late out of the gate there. Relaxing brought his focus back to his bride. “Of course, love,” he said. He had a bottle of port back in their cabin for an after party nightcap as well. He’d not had a chance to catch up with her today beyond a short lunch break with her. Out of the corner of his eye he watched Deeg enter with Bat. Bat was dressed somewhat Elf like but a rather large bursting at the seams blue Bolian Elf where the red and white and green rather clashed with his bold blue image. He winced at the clash, especially beside Deeg’s conservative ‘tweed’ jacket over an open collar shirt, making him look like a high school teacher.
- Dagen

Reia had settled in next to Dagen as he spoke with the counsellor and people watched his staff. She was familiar with Deeg and Bat having seen them several times while she was in engineering for this or that reason, usually connected with seeing Dagen, but the outfits were a marvel. Looking away, she simply shook her head.

  • Reia

Alas it was not many more moments when Bat and Deeg approached the trio. Deeg had a glass of what looked like egg nog. His eyes darted about in his typical conspiratorial search, attempting to avoid eye contact with the counselor. Bat looked like a Christmas Smurf close up, himself carrying a green drink in a thin tubular glass that looked like a glorified test tube. It was slowly bubbling.

“Dagen, Reia, Counselor,” Bat said in his typical genial fashion. “I was just telling Deeg here that the Christmas tradition on Earth is a very unique one. A terror following one Saint from house to house, small spirits that may be benign or not within the home. Gifts that may range from fossil fuels to even more strange items - all carried in a shuttle with a dimensionally altered sack. My supposition that Deeg is hesitant to agree to is that this was a time traveler from the future who had transporter technology and advanced dimensional artifacts with which to beam down into private homes.” He took a sip and looked to the three. “What do you all think?”
- Deeg, Dagen and Bat

Ben decided to bring several trays of baked goodies, cookies, chocolate brownies, and his famous cremé bruleé. Ben came in with his hair parted to the right slightly. He went straight to the bar and ordered a top shelf whiskey with a Pepsi.

Lt. Park

The GM floats in much like the Fat Friar of Hufflepuff fame. He looks at the fare available and is very touched that his favourite chocolate cake is very much in attendance.

GM

The immaterial GM looks longingly at the chocolate cake but is aware that he cannot really eat the cake because he was not material, merely ethereal. Moving away from the table took a tremendous amount of will power. He then stares off out the window at the stars and notices the reflection of a sort of a christmas tree. The image superimposes itself on the star scape and the ethereal GM realises that the illusion of the flickering starlight in space does look good with the christmas tree.

GM

Ben arrived at the celebration and immediately went to the bar and ordered a White Russian. He thanked the bartender and turned and leaned against the bar to see who had arrived so far. There was the Captain, the Counselor, and a couple he hadn’t met yet. People were starting to show up, and he hoped T’Lora would arrive soon. Ben had taken a bit of time researching his outfit and thought it fit the theme rather well. He had on a white T-shirt under a denim jacket with a corduroy collar, a pair of beige cargo pants with a drawstring waist, and a pair of brown, lace up Doc Martens boots. The chain that held the betrothal pendant T’Lora had given him showed around his neck. Noticing the Captain in his pink jacket, Ben figured now was as good a time as any and headed over to speak to him about the wedding.
“Captain, I hope I’m not intruding but I’d like to ask you about performing a wedding. Ensign T’Lora and I are engaged and would like to be married. We would like you to perform the ceremony, probably right after the celebration if possible.” Ben took a sip of his drink. “T’Lora should be here soon and I can firm things up with her. If you would do this we would really appreciate it.” Ben stepped back and took another sip of his drink, waiting for the Captain’s response.

Ben

“Never intruding Lieutenant.” Marius started as he looked at Ben. “I wasn’t aware you were engaged.” He remarked and then snapped his lips closed as Ben continued.

David entered the party dressed in black slacks, a white T-shirt and a blazer jacket that was black with a floral pattern of small pink flowers. He was quite familiar with the fashion of this time period, having spent a few weeks there during a mission he’d been on for the DTI.

Overhearing Ben’s request of the Captain as he walked by on his way to the bar, he let out a soft groan and rolled his eyes. Romance and meaningful relationships had lost any interest for him. Those things didn’t mean anything now that the one true love of his life was quite possibly lost to him forever.

Making his way to the bar, David flagged down the bartender. “Something alcoholic. Something strong.” He ordered.

-David Michaels, CSO

Lt. Park turned slightly around to Michaels “David how’re things going for you?”

Lt. Ben Park

T’Lora appeared at her fiancé’s right and smiled softly. “Captain. I see Ben has already ambushed you.” She hadn’t actually needed to look for clothes outside of what she already owned. T’Lora wore a dark red short-sleeve shirt tucked into a pair of black ripped jeans. She had an olive green jacket tied around her waist, and white Doc Martens finished the look.
-T’Lora

“Ah, the soon to be blushing bride.” Marius looked over at T’Lora. “You own, black ripped jeans?” He questioned. “Although to be fair I did own my pink jacket.”

Marius

T’Lora ducked her head awkwardly. “It’s not very Vulcan, but it was in style.” She smiled warmly. “I think the jacket could be an excellent addition to the uniform.”
-T’Lora

Ben placed an arm around T’Lora’s waist, glad that she had arrived. After the meld he didn’t feel complete without her nearby. He grinned trying to imagine the crew running around all wearing pink dinner jackets. He spoke to T’Lora, ” I was just asking the Captain about performing the ceremony, but wanted to get your input before anything was decided.”
