Siobhan laughed. “To be honest, I wouldn’t place any bets on the Vulcan’s. For all we know, they made this section of space. I had a Vulcan roommate in the Academy. And every time I thought I had come up with something new in either theory or practice, she pulled out something written decades ago from some Vulcan super brain.” She shook her head, “Though to be fair, I think Vulcan and super brain are the same thing in their dictionary. It impressed me to the point we almost made it a game. I spent every week trying to come up with something new, and she would find it’s already been thought of or done.” She shook her head remembering. Of all the species, Siobhan respected the Vulcans as scientists most of all. And, the Klingon as warriors, of course.

She let a small giggle slip thru her lips as the thoughts ran thru her head.

As they neared the planet, the sensors picked up the presence of tetryons. Under the ground, there seemed to be remains that were more ‘intact’ than the previous material that they had found.

GM

“Well that’s interesting” Magnus commented “Should we get some samples whilst we’re here?” he asked Sibohan

XO

Ben spoke up “I can open some ventilators to collect them if needed or we can do a transport it on board in a level three containment field”

Lt. Park

Magnus answered immediately “Prepare a containment field if we decide to bring it over” He said with a smile to the Tactical Officer.

XO

It was possible for the remains to be beamed into the containment field as it was the size of a boxer pup.

GM

“Aye Sir.” Ben had wondered whether the containment field will hold the material long enough to transport it back to the Genesis safely.

Lt. Park

The material was transported into the containment field. The sensors were able to analyse the remains with quite a great detail.

The computer was able to ascertain that 78% of the substance was previously solanogen-based due to the presence of the characteristic patterns at the molecular level due to tetryon degradation. The result are compounds with germanium, silicon and thallium as the main elements according to mass. Only 4 % of the remains are made up of compounds that are found in normal space. 18% are also compounds with germanium, silicon and thallium but there is evidence of tetryon degradation but the original compounds remain unknown. The computer estimates that 96% of the compounds found in the remains originate from subspace.

GM

Siobhan looked over the data, slowly shaking her head as she bit her lip. “Well, the good news is, the computer figured out some of the compounds. The bad news,” she looked up and smiled with a grin that was more lost than humorous, “the bad news is that 96% is unknown and originated in subspace. Sooooo… my guess, these remains, like the ones on the other rocks, are likely remains from whatever hatched.” She glanced down at the computer as if it would suddenly give her the answers she was seeking. Thinking out loud, she leaned on the bulkhead. “My guess is maybe it’s a cycle. They hatch here, go… someplace else, out there,” she waved in the direction the creature had taken off in. “And perhaps return here to die. Either they cocoon somehow, and it makes these planetoids. Or their death creates the shells, somehow.”

She was immensely fascinated and ridiculously clueless at the same time. “Just like a scientist should be.” She half murmured under her breath.

OOC: You could share your findings with the main ship ? … :)

GM

Magnus gave the Scientist a queer look at her comment “Well that’s something” He turned in his chair and tapped his panel “I’m opening a channel to the Genesis, give them a report, perhaps they can use the information” He had never encountered anything made almost solely of material from Subspace… space.

A communications signal from the Runabout beeped, the voice of the First Officer came through =^=Runabout Liberty to Genesis, We’ve gathered some information from the nebula you might find interesting.= ^=

=^=Please Commander, any information would be helpful.=^=

=^=I’m transmitting our sensor data. We took some samples and the results were, shall we say interesting. It seems to be either a birthing husk or a shell formed after death, in any case, Lieutenant DeNaris informs me that it’s comprised almost entirely out of unknown material originating from Subspace=^=

XO

=^=Okay, sounds reasonable, anything else?=^= Marius had presumed as much. =^=Although there is a difference between, death and birthing husk.=^=

Marius

The runabout’s computer was not able to crunch the data efficiently because it was limited. However, with certain parameters given by the science officer, there could be a few possibilities of what the sensor data could mean.

OOC: I will be giving more details the next time I post. :)

GM

The three most probable scenarios were listed as follows:

Highest probability 76% - Failed development of an ‘egg’.
Probability 17% - Remains was that of a parent who failed in the competition with the successful parent. The successful parent was the one whose egg was laid.
Probability 2% - Remains was that of a parent who died after laying the ‘egg’.
There were 17 other scenarios that were each less than 1% probability.
