=^=I’m transmitting our sensor data. We took some samples and the results were, shall we say interesting. It seems to be either a birthing husk or a shell formed after death, in any case, Lieutenant DeNaris informs me that it’s comprised almost entirely out of unknown material originating from Subspace=^=

As the information came in, the computer began to create possible scenarios with respect to the nature of the creature. It would take a little more time as there were parameters that needed to be set by a sentient being to narrow down the more realistic possibilities.

“Keep us ahead of that creature. No matter what.” Marius nodded towards the helm.

The computer link with the runabout showed the results from the analysis. As the ship moved closer to the anomaly, sensors were able to make out that it was some kind of spatial tear. Sensors would show that the special matter that made up the creature’s species was also present from within the tear in the fabric of space at the anomaly.

“The anomaly appears to be a spatial tear,” David announced. “I’m detecting the same matter from the creature within the tear.” He paused. “Maybe this is the creatures home?” He asked curiously.

Ben kept watching the tactical display and relaying course and speed adjustments to the helm to keep them ahead of the creature. He thought to himself, “Surely we aren’t going to follow the creature into the anomaly.”

Reia glanced at David, his supposition made perfect sense but, then again, she wasn’t a scientist.

“Makes sense,” Marius agreed with the general theory, “but it isn’t proven. Can we get a little more fact with that theory.” Marius looked off. “If baby is going home, then I don’t see why we need to do anything aside from watch and report to Star-Fleet science.”
He looked to Sage, “Want to send a probe through too… get some information on what’s on the other side of that thing.”

8 hours from the last ‘hurried jump’, the pattern of the increase of energy within the creature and the building up of energy to produce a magneton pulse, the sensors alerted the crew to the next jump.
15 minutes later, the creature disappeared from sensors. This time, the sensors were able to detect the formation of a wormhole that the creature snugly went into. A minute later, the creature appeared one light year ahead from its last position. It was still trailing behind the Genesis.
OOC: I am sorry for the absence. Family matters needed to be taken care of. I will be declaring an LOA until 8 Jan.

OOC: This has been the season of crisis. Hope things are well.

OOC: Things have settled down. My mother was suddenly taken ill and was hospitalised. They suspected COVID and we were all placed on alert. It turns out the tests were negative and it was her weak heart. She’s still in hospital but at least she’s out of ICU.
IC:
The ship was just about 18 hours away from the anomaly. The creature was still trailing behind. The next jump (in 10 hours), according to the computer’s projection, should put it ahead of the Genesis and about one hour away from the anomaly.

Ben kept checking the tactical screen and the information displayed there. “Captain, course and speed projections show the creature will be ahead of us if the jumps it’s been making continue. I’ve projected where it will be in relation to us as the red and blue lines on the viewscreen, blue being us and red the creature.”

David didn’t have anything of importance to add at the moment. It felt as though they had just been watching a creature travel in a unique manner through subspace. They’d collected quite a bit of sensor data on the travel method, whether or not such a method could be adapted for a starship was another question entirely. He wondered if the creature was indeed going home, or was this something else entirely?

“Lets get a class 7 probe to get a peek at the spacial tear.” Marius nodded towards Michaels. “Do we have something else?”
