Ben checked the time for what must have been the hundredth time, it was precisely forty minutes to midnight and guests were starting to arrive. In less than an hour he and T’Lora would be wed. He mentally reviewed the preparations and determined that if he had forgotten anything it was too late now. He checked the pocket of his robe and felt the small box that held his grandmothers wedding ring. He glanced at the time again thirty-eight minutes to go.

Ben SO
BUMP to participants.
OOC: T’Lora I will let you decorate the holodeck in appropriate fashion, if you will.

The wedding appeared to be taking place in a clearing in the forests of Earth. The ceiling was lit with stars, and bioluminescent flora lined the walkway, growing up onto the seating benches. A faint sound trickled through the trees, the sound of running water from a distant waterfall, and the occasional hoot of an owl rang out into the false night. A faint chill hung in the air.

Tom entered and looked around thinking he might be a bit early. He checked his masking device before approaching the seating area on the Bride’s side.

He was dressed in a custom fitted suit. The color of the jacket, vest, pants, and tie were Black 4.0. The Jacket and vest had a deep scarlet lining matching his silk shirt. The toe, heel, and upper of his wingtip leather shoes matched the black of the suit while the mid panel and laces matched his shirt.

Dagen came into the holodeck with Reia, hand in hand. He was in his dress uniform on this occasion. Some found it a stuffy, scratchy thing but Dagen thought it fit well. Perhaps he was one of the lucky ones. “A midnight wedding?” he said quietly to Reia. “They could have eloped. Aren’t their holographic priests that are qualified to do this?” He was complaining, if cheekily of the time. Marriage at midnight. It was different. Being the holodeck would they turn into pumpkins at midnight?

Reia walked close to Dagen smiling and giggling at his comment.

“Oh hush you. I think a wedding at midnight is romantic myself but, it takes more planning and patience than I was willing to waste. I had to have you all to myself on that very day.” she whispered, thoughts of their own impromptu beach wedding flashed in her mind.

For several days after they had gotten married, Reia had wondered if Dagen had regretted the surprise ceremony and wished they’d held out for a more formal affair. Latey though, she had finally realized that wasn’t the case.

Distracted by the sound of the owl, Dagen looked around to try to spot it. He thought that owls were utterly curious creatures; he was fond of their spots that many of them had. Stifling a yawn he nodded in no particular direction. He didn’t plan well and that was no reason to complain about the time. Besides, the scenery was nice. The ‘bio luminescent’ flora seemed out of place but rather funky. “This does remind me of our wedding,” he said quietly. It had not been that long before. While the setting was quite different the feel of it was the same - on the ship, holodeck and so on. He inhaled deeply the forest smells. They reminded him of when he was young on camping trips with his dad and grandfather. He had to watch himself that he didn’t drift off in this ‘woodsy’ environment.

He glanced to his wife and her dress. Sharing moments like this was important to him. Others were here in his dimly lit place; he recognized several but others were just dim faces in the twilight. His arm slid around Reia’s waist as they walked slowly through the starlight in the direction of the benches that too had a woodland theme.

He had gotten off shift and caught a quick bite once he was back in their quarters, however the quick nap he had anticipated getting did not materialize. He could only explain it away by saying that pheromones got in the way. Which he had not yet found to be a bad thing. Idly he wondered whether the timing was based on a Vulcan thing. By the time they were more of an item on the radar of cultural studies they were either a) past when Dagen’s first host was around and b) past when Lin, the second host would have considered her exobiology cultural studies to be interesting to look at Vulcans as opposed to more exotic alien studies.

V’Lath arrived at the holodeck at precisely 11:45, neither too early nor too late. He noted several others who were in attendance including one gentleman dressed mostly in black, who seemed vaguely familiar but V’Lath couldn’t place him. V’Lath wore the robes of a Vulcan scholar, a dark brown inner robe covered by a wide sleeved lighter brown outer robe worn open down the front. There were dark maroon chevrons on each sleeve and gold embroidered calligraphy on the collar and down the back. He wore soft black boots. He saw Ben looking nervously at the time and others were starting to arrive also.

Reia drifted to the benches with Dagen, walking close to him. The warmth of her body leeched through her form fitting pink dress, through his dress uniform, to his skin. She hadn’t tried to talk him out of his dress uniform that night, she wasn’t the type of woman who though that couples had to be all matchy. Frowning she thought that was a terrible word, why did it have to enter her mind? This caused the white hair to pull in the pink and white ribbon she had put it in. Shifting, she readjusted it and smoothed down the dress before sitting with her husband. Leaning in, she kissed his cheek, her exposed skin still warm in the cool night air.

As they sat his arm slid out from around her so they sat side by side. She was a little thermal generator, all the more so against the coolness of his joined Trill hands, one of which he rested at her thigh just above the knee. He marveled at their differences and how such differences could create no small amount of chagrin, but also no small amount of pleasure. He’d not trade what he had with Reia for anything. As he looked around he was acutely aware of Reia’s presence; the owl still eluded him. Her kiss to his cheek brought him back to the now. “All we’re missing are dryads and centaurs and elves.” Turning his eyes sought hers and he returned her kiss, soft to her lips.

Ben checked the time yet again, it was now just five minutes to midnight. The guests were seated and all were awaiting the arrival of the bride. Ben took took a deep breath to calm his nerves and realized that in just a few minutes he and T’Lora would be wed and start their life together. He thought the woodland scene was perfect, it was peaceful and serene. He inhaled deeply and detected the scent of pine in the air.

Ben SO
BUMP to T’Lora and Captain.

V’Lath watched as others began to take seats in the sylvan glade. To him this was extremely interesting as it was so ......un-Vulcan. The Vulcan home world was a very harsh desert like place, but then he thought “why not”, T’Lora was raised on Earth as was he, but as far as he knew she had never been to the home planet. He inhaled deeply and found he enjoyed the scents of the woodland. He moved to take a seat on the rearmost row of benches as he was so tall, and didn’t want to block anyone else from viewing the ceremony.
