Ensign Kesh stepped through the doorway to the Genesis’s Medical department and paused there to look about for a moment. A minor wave of comfort settles in as the layout of this compartment rendered a significant degree of familiarity, unlike most other aspects of this ship thus far. Perhaps by design or coincidence, the layout of the space was quite familiar to that of the Sovereign-class USS Athene on which she had served so many years during her prior commission. If one place ought to be calming in that regard it ought to be where one goes to recover from injury or illness.

In this case, however, it was for a different sort of wellness: confirming her presence to the medical staff and ensuring nothing had changed between now and her last scan at Starfleet Medical prior to deployment. Assuming the medical office she speaks with isn’t adverse to cats or augments, it should be easy enough.

Thus, the Caitian officer appears to just be gormlessly staring around in random directions to whomever notices her entrance.

Sage was the officer on duty in the main bay, so she saw the Caitian enter. Between patients, she was calibrating a set of tools from one of the biobeds when she looked up and saw the feline. “Hello, may I help you?”

A human medical officer. Those tend to be predictably pleasant to work with. Mostly. Okay. Now. Just handle this like the dozens of check-ups that have come before and it will be just fine.

“Sir, Nn–Ensign Kesh reporting for onboarding physical.” Still wanting to say the wrong rank. Eghf. Caught it better than last time, at least!

The tall Caitian strode forward toward Sage, arms folded behind her back, tail end curved up off the floor behind, maintaining physical posture disciline, at least, as she repeated an old nursery rhyme to keep her steps at the right speed.

The doctor replaced a tool in the kit for the biobed and smiled at the Ensign. “Well, you’re in luck. I can help you with that. Would you prefer to stand or sit for the scans?” Her emerald eyes regarded the Caitian’s tail. Oh, I’m Sage Brennan, the CMO for the Genesis.”

Blink. Blink. Options? Geh.

Wait, no, this isn’t hard. Pick one.

“Ah-.. rr… I can remain standing.” A glance down at self then back up pairs with back-tilted ears, tail jostle, and a short puff of breath to express the anxiety that she had been holding at bay up until now. “A.. ah.. pleasure to meet you, Doctor Brennan.” A light, respectful bow and long blink does the Caitian’s best to get off to a good start. If one is going to have a positive relationship on a starship it should be with the doctor.

Hand dipping into pocket to retrieve a medical tricorder, Sage began scanning the Caitian. “Are you nervous, Ensign? Please don’t be—we are fairly easy going here in medical and even though I’m married to the CO, work and private life are kept separate.” She smiled at the feline. “Are you experiencing any odd symptoms of ill health or pain at this time?” (OOC: does she find anything?)
