“Twenty marines could have made a pyramid that we could have walked up to get over this,” he commented as he made a lunge with Magnus’ help …

He hadn’t needed their help to top the wall, but both she and Ben reached out to help the Captain. “You know, you men could at least try to make me feel like I’m helping in some way.”

—Sage

.. his lunge took him up .. reaching for available hands which, at the crowded top of the wall, seemed that Marius and Sage were the closest …
- Dagen

Calvin hung down the wall farther than she did, but Sage was very limber and leaned over till she was stretched to the limit. She saw Dagen launch himself up off the XO’s body and as chance would have it, he was angled more towards her and Cal. She held her hand out to catch one of his and readied her body to catch his weight.

—Sage

Magnus turned around to look at how Thor was doing with his climb.

XO

Magnus would see that he had initially missed the Captain’s hand, or the Captain had missed his while in flight, and that he currently dangled by way of Sage having his right arm. “Good grip,” he said to her, more out of gratefulness than surprise as he floundered in the air pivoting his left arm and body to bring it in line with a second try with Marius. “If you would be so kind, Captain. I don’t mind hanging around but there are better places ..”
- Dagen

Marius half leaned half swung over to take part of Thor’s weight off of Sage. No matter how strong she was, she was lighter than Thor and he could find a way to pull her down - instead of her pulling him up. “Sure, sure… like I don’t know what you are up to.” He groaned as he was out of position. “Grab the girl’s hand.” He nodded. “Smart.”

Marius

“I could say you were looking at the girl rather than my hand,” Dagen replied with a grunt as his swinging left hand finally made contact with Marius’ and stabilized. Not that that was a problem, he thought, given his predilection of watching Reia often enough.

“You could say that,” Marius agreed.

With hands-on-hips Magnus looked up at the two officers pulling the third up with a wide grin on his face “What I wouldn’t give for a Holo-Imager right now” He called up them.

XO

“Dare I say that there is a history feature with the holodeck?” the helpful engineer thought to blurt out …

Holding Dagen’s weight alone put a strain on Sage’s arm. She didn’t even try to lift until Cal had a firm hold of the other one. Eventually the two of them got the engineer up on top of the wall. She had scooted behind where Thor sat now. “Since the two of you are going to have to help the XO, I’ll be taking my leave of you now.” With that said, she brought her other leg to the far side of the wall and pushed off, landing safely. “I’m fine. Let’s get Magnus over so we can continue.” While they all looked back over at the XO, Sage rubbed the muscles in her arm.

—Sage

Settled Dagen looked down. That still looked a long ways down even as it looked a long ways up from the ground. He didn’t even look as Sage slid off and landed with a soft, earthy thud. He saw his pack looking sad and crumpled with the others. It would keep. Now for Magnus. Dagen tested his balance at the top. Ben was there too. Dagen supposed it would be a matter of where Marius thought to go.
- Dagen

“Come on big man… last up…”

Marius

On the other side of the wall, Sage massaged her arm. It was possible that holding Dagen’s weight on her own had strained the inner muscles of her arm. She flexed the arm and then extended it, testing for soreness. Yes, there was some but it wouldn’t force her to leave the program. She turned and looked up, wondering when Magnus would show his face over the wall.

—Sage

“Go on ahead Doc we’ll catch up” Ben replied. As he steadied himself on the wall for the next person.

Park

Magnus gave the Captain a smiling nod and took several steps back and prepared for a run. It didn’t take him long to reach the wall at his speed, he jumped up then used the wall to run up as it were and reached out a hand to grab the Captain’s large hand, outwardly he made it seem easy but he was too well aware that he only just managed not to fall on his behind.

XO

Ben smirked and commented “now you understand why I ran to the wall ten feet back”

Park

Sage was looking up from the far side, one hand shading her eyes. “Is he up yet?” She wasn’t going to venture off ahead of the men, this was Cal’s program and knowing him there might be traps or detours or critters. She shivered at some of the life forms that came to mind.

—Sage

Marius picked up his pack, nodded towards the group. “That was only one barrier,” he glanced at his chronometer, “We are not setting any records.” He took off on the path at a pace greater than his previous. “lets make some time.”

Marius

Sage followed. She wasn’t carrying a pack, so she caught up to Marius quickly. “You don’t mind me joining the program, do you? The ship is so quiet I was kind of bored and knew you had this in the works, so…here I am.”

—Sage

“I’m always happy when you join doctor.” Marius said professionally. He leaned in and said in a manner only she could hear. “I would prefer if you ran ahead so I could enjoy the view.” He smirked.

Dagen had hoped that that rather heavy pack would be left behind in the end. He had landed better than he had hoped but his legs were still jarred by the landing. He may have been next out after Marius and Sage but he figured the others would be passing him; Ben seemed to be more of a bull and could better handle a heavy pack than Dagen could.
- Dagen

Ben was the last to hopped down from the wall. He reached down for his pack and hustled up the path in a light jog.

Park

Magnus joined the younger officer in the jump down and gave him a friendly tap with his elbow “You had support going up” He said with a wide smile, grabbing his pack and slinging it across his back “Wall running is not one of my most fleshed out skills” He gave the man a chuckle and jogged on after the Captain.

After what seemed to be about a mile run… Marius lumbers at about a 10:30 minute pace, so if the weight of the pack didn’t cause a huge problem most runners would have no difficulty… if the pack wasn’t a problem.

The group reached an open span, that really wouldn’t exist in nature. This side of the cliff was separated from the other by about 20 meters. . There was a long drop but two long ‘bamboo like’ rods 2 feet apart that crossed the span. The rods themselves didn’t seem wide enough to stand and walk on one… and were too far apart to walk on both.

Marius

Magnus exhaled heavily then returned to his regular breathing, the running didn’t seem to leave him tired at all “Well you are very full of surprises Cap” He said eyeing the gap with a wide smile.
