Sage took a fresh cup of coffee to her desk and sat down heavily in the chair. She and T’Lora had just delivered twins to NELt and Mrs Cyrus Vance. The babies were healthy and beautiful and had filled the CMO with such longing she’d had to work at it not to burst into tears.
Once again, she thought how it was unfair that she and Cal couldn’t have babies. He’d said he wouldn’t adopt, that the infants had to be from his lineage—but what about hers? Since the eggs that had been harvested from her before her hysterectomy had been destroyed on the last Genesis, there was no way she could make a baby. If he wouldn’t adopt…there weren’t really any other options.
Still fighting back frustrated tears, she wondered if approaching him one last time might be the time he finally gave in.
