Dagen sent a note up to Kesh. =^= Kesh, keep an eye on their power outputs. They may seem to be what they are - a developing people just new to space but that doesn’t mean they don’t have any surprises. I’m not expecting any death rays but the universe has many possibilities and we’ve not thought of them all yet. =^=
Dagen

There is a fairly significant delay, and Kesh’s tone is particularely deadpan, but perhaps she is just very focused on doing just that.

=^= Aye, sir. =^=

-> Kesh, Engineering

=^=Magnus to Thor, get your analysis of the enemy vessels to our tactical station, I want the best way to disable their vessels without lasting harm, no casualties acceptable=^=

XO

=^= Sending =^= Thor replied, then, to Kesh, he messaged =^= Your calculations show a much less powered strike to their ships than initially considered. Work with Tactical in that. You’re the one up there and have the best view. =^=

With that Dagen sent up what he had, which wasn’t much more than what they had already delivered up there. He was concerned at the plot points from what they had initially worked and 20% might be too much and would cause potentially catastrophic damages. He did run an analysis on their nukes that they just sent. Slow but they had an area effect even in space, principally from radiation.

Dagen sent up notes to both Kesh and Tactical =^=- Their inertial systems are weak. Start at a 5% strength on phasers. Kesh, plot payload on the torpedoes and work optimal distance to neutralize them. =^=

Meanwhile his eyes glanced at shop power outputs. This was their first real combat and, even though it was one that was against a lesser foe, it didn’t mean that they couldn’t learn a lot of the response of the ship.
Dagen, CE

Kesh’s reply was a simple =^= Aye , sir =^= to the second command, while data feeds from the bridge console showed her hasty effort to ensure idealic power frequencies for detonation of the warheads. The experience gained in her prior service in Starfleet shines through here, as your typical ensign would not be able to work so quickly or so exactly.

->Kesh, Engineering

By the tone of the reply he figured Kesh would be .. busy, but knew she was up to the task. There was more to Kesh than most saw and while Dagen didn’t know it all he did know she was experienced, yet strangely still and ensign. He was sure that this would ‘show her off’ to the first officer and others there when the next promotion cycle came up. In the meantime, Dagen was racking his mind trying to fathom the strangeness of this encounter. They couldn’t scan us. They couldn’t catch us. They couldn’t touch us with their lasers. Why did they feel some extra ships might do the trick. Even trying to ram them would be detected as their acceleration was not that impressive. They had thought they were the others whom the Genesis had just made first contact with. They had spoken of what was tantamount to an invasion of this pre-warp world. Sure these people didn’t have any kind of Prime Directive, and by early indications had made some interference with their technology, and while the Genesis had no right to interfere on that note, preventing death through whatever stylized takeover for unknown purposes was well within their scope to try to prevent. Unfortunately at the moment they weren’t divulging much information. Perhaps Reia and the away team on that world would come up with something more concrete.

=^= You focus on the battle items. I’ll keep my eye on ship’s power. =^= he replied up, as he keyed in separate screens for each of the Lescoo ships to show their status alongside their own.
Dagen, CE

Dagen noted on the side display on how their internal shielding went offline. ‘That should keep them busy’ he thought to himself, at least on those two ships. However, he was sure the Captain and crew were working out options. Given the situation at hand, he figured that a tractor beam might be warranted for the next operation to pull them out and away from the danger area, as well as additional power to shielding against the radiation.

He tapped in a power allocation algorithm for rerouting power to these systems, and called out, “Sebastian, monitor power flow for the tractor beam. Make sure Kesh has enough if needed. Deeg, Angel, optimize shielding levels and frequencies against their nuke radiation recipe.” Kesh can work with that and fine tune it as well on the bridge but Angel and Deeg could do more of the grunt work on that. At the same time Kesh could modify the phaser power as needed. 5% was not taxing anything in their systems.
- Dagen, CE

Bat called over, “Oh you have to see this boss! Kesh is good. She’s creating ghost images to confuse the missiles. I have a power redirect for what she’s doing.”
Dagen, still watching the systems, “Do it. Whatever she needs there Bat.”
“Already on it chief,” Bat replied.
Dagen was monitoring radiation levels on the ship. The shields were handling things and Kesh’s sleight of hand would help if the missiles take the bait, but one never could assume that all the radiation would be held back everywhere and some areas nearer the hull may need to be checked or cordoned off briefly if it continued. He tapped out a note for decontamination crews to be at the ready.
- Dagen, CE

The deflector shield completed its preparation for disabling the Lesscoo ships.

GM

For a while Dagen simply watched the status boards and the movements of these aliens who didn’t know when to quit and assess the battlefield. Power was stable and Kesh was working things artistically on the bridge. He made a note to apply a commendation for her for creative thinking under pressure. There wasn’t much more to be done as the others had things under control. He let his mind drift over to the planet now at distance where Reia was on the away team. He hoped that things were going well and that she was okay. In this strangely quiet time, even in the midst of a battle, he allowed himself to worry for her. He had every confidence in his wife and the team, though, with four lifetimes of memories, be it on planet in a home or on a ship, anything could happen.
- Dagen

Dagen looked at the results of the last ‘battle’ there. They were not wont to give up those people. But how could we show ourselves to not be some monster who wanted to muscle in on their self claimed territory? =^= Computer, scan the Lescoo ships and the principle damage. Suggest ways, or a principle way that they could repair their systems, or, alternatively, how might they may improve their inertial dampers system. =^= Maybe if they ‘helped’ them in some way after they have gotten their butts whooped - a strange term he - or rather Thor’s first host - had learned from a colleague who had originated in the Southern Americas region. It was applicable. But yes, maybe if they whooped them then helped them they might feel less antagonistic toward them. Or at least start to question their own actions.
- Dagen, CE

The computer showed that the Lesscoo ships had thick hull armour but had not the graviton sustained shields that Starfleet had, which were able to deflect weapon fire. The Lesscoo ‘shields’ were high concentrated magnetic fields that prevented radioactive particles from reaching the interior of the ship. The impact of the Genesis’s light weapon fire resulted in physical damage and the physical impact had also caused some of the ship’s systems to buckle and malfunction.

GM

The data was a start, and the damage distinctly had other collateral incidental damage in the vessels, probably as much due to the hull design as much as the weapons damages. He chewed on his lip in thought. They had a rudimentary inertial damper system in place now but it was .. clunky. The essence of it was a series of force fields that nullified or dampened forward or lateral acceleration within the ship. By the look of it they were developing with their technology on the forward but maneuvering was more messy. That meant that straight on they were adequate but any kind of maneuvering meant them moving much more gingerly. Dagen could work out a kind of power distribution and optimal damper installation placement to help them in that - if only for safety. Space travel was dangerous enough without having to worry about making a turn too fast. He worked with the computer to map out a possible schematic for that with what they could glean.
Dagen
OOC: I think I was remembering that right from prior posts of their maneuvering and acceleration .. correct me if I’m wrong Kenson .. Gene

OOC: You are on point. :)
OOC: Thankies

Kenson

Dagen tapped at his jaw with his fingertip. =^= Computer, from a scan of these ships, taking in the parameters of their power output and inertial damper current capability compute best positional locations for inertial dampers force fields to optimize their velocity and maneuvering capabilities and note most probable outcome with improvement. Compare that with incremental power output to the inertial dampers in 3% increments up to 15%. =^= They might be able to work out a power increase there. It may limit some of their potential speed but it would help.

While he waited for the computer to work that out which he figured would take at least a little time, he tapped up to the bridge =^= Kesh, please pass on when you can that I’m working on a possible peace offering for them to show we’re not all crazed pirates. I’m working out simulations to optimize their inertial dampers so they can more safely maneuver and travel in space without fear of becoming goo. =^=
- Dagen, CE

There is another significant delay before Kesh replies, and the first utterance sounds like a bit of odd indigestion, followed by a deadpan =^=”Aye, sir.”=^=

Clearly, the Caitian engineer is having one heck of time working bridge shift.

-> Kesh, Engineerng

A lot must be happening up there, Dagen thought, with Kesh delaying her reply. But that said, he had prefaced it with when she was able. This wasn’t anything that was needed on a quick turn around as right now nobody was talking to the other. But if they did Dagen thought he might be able to grease the wheels some by offering something useful that wouldn’t change the balance of power but simply make their space travel a little safer. Besides, he wanted to do something useful.

While he waited he noted the ship go to warp, an odd number, but he suspected too that that was designed that way. It was a modest, if very swift pace compared to these folk. Sensor power was upped, focused on the world. Dagen opened up another screen to see what they were seeing. On the surface they appeared to be merely a people bent on some conquest of space and in competition with the beings they had just left. In one way that was simply a microcosm of the greater scale of what they had encountered between the Federation and other races early on such as the Klingons, whom, it seems, these folk would get along with well.
