Planet Middle Continent

“Well, I guess it’s time to put our official ‘first contact’ hats on, then,” Thomas said, turning his attention to the native they’d dragged along.

“I don’t suppose your people’s extra-terrestrial contact dramas have the ‘Take me to your leader’ cliche, do they?” he asked.

COS

Ben quietly chuckled at Thomas’s question.

The guard stared at McGregor in disbelief. The COS had just used the cliche of all cliches in their science fiction entertainment. “D .. D… Do you want the city leader or the continent’s leader?” he asked hesitatingly.

GM

“I’ll take whoever you have the most reasonable authority to contact, and we’ll work our way up from there,” Thomas said, in what he hoped was a reassuring tone. He was feeling just as out of his depth in this moment as the guard, particularly since he wasn’t in any position to be making any deals on behalf of the Federation.

Nor did he have any real diplomatic training, but he was a trained interrogator. Hopefully some of those skills would cross over… and if not, hopefully the Genesis would be able to send at least the XO, who was part of the formal chain of command.

The guard looked at the side of the door where there was a device, which the tricorder concluded was a communication device. It was like the old telephones of earth but with no wires.

“Can I use that?” he asked.

GM

“Sure, go ahead,” Thomas said, after scanning the device.

Reia felt like she should really have taken over at this point but, McGregor was in charge and, for some reason, she was happy to leave it that way.

OOC: Assuming permission was given …

IC: The man took up the handset and pressed some buttons. He took a deep breath and said, “Please do not think that I am hallucinating.” After a short pause listening to the person on the other side, he continued, “I have some aliens with me and they demand to see the continental leader.”

GM

“Request,” Thomas interjected. “Demand has negative connotations, I’d like to impress that we’re simply asking nicely.”
