As the ensign came by the captains quarters she had some questions she had in mind like for instance what could I do better for my sub-department?, what could I do better in sickbay and what could I do to make things better for people that needs medical attention? she thought to herself. So she chimes the captains ringer and stood there until he responded. She knows that asking these type questions are important to the captain to hear and she wants to know what she can do to improve herself.

Ensign Angel

Marius continued to sit at his desk. Every time he thought he was done with his paperwork someone seemed to drop more into his computer. He welcomed the distraction of the chime at his door, even if it only delayed the inevitable. “Come, please.”

When the Ensign appeared he glanced at her, “How can I be of assistance?”

Marius

“Sorry if I am disturbing you sir. But ever since I’ve started working in sickbay, I feel like there is nothing there for me to do and was wondering if there was a more useful area I can work in sir.” She said to the captain just wondering if she’d get reassigned to a different position on board.

Ensign Angel

OOC: That’s ironic since you are also in the medical bay looking for a physical.

“I’m not sure, I don’t know if you medical degree is as valuable in a different position?” Marius responded honestly. In most cases position changes were sent to the department head and then the XO not directly to the Captain, but he was game.

“So tell me ensign, what else can you do?”

Marius

“Well sir that’s the thing I have no idea.” She said.

Ensign Angel

“Well, maybe the answer is in the question.” Marius paused as if that made perfect sense.

“You sometimes have to find the growth yourself. You are coming to me like I know what you want to do.. what you can do. I remember not to long ago I went on a holo deck run. Several people came, but I had to build the run and execute the challenges. That’s kind of like life, sometimes you have to imagine what the challenge might be.”

“I think when not on a mission you have to decide what direction you want to grow in… and then grow in that direction. Do you understand?”

Marius

“Yes sir I do sir. Thank you.” She said with a smile on her face as she sat there.

Ensign Angel

“So, tell me then, what do you want to go? And don’t give me the you ‘don’t know’ kind of answer.”

Marius

“Sir with all due respect I feel like if we don’t have a CMO on board. I am more then willing to take it. That is if it’s open. If not then it’s okay sir.” She said as she requested.

Ensign Angel

OOC: Obviously we have a bunch of holes, but you can not have two Chiefs on a single ship. The other Angel is CSO so its one or the other.

“Ensign, there are some weak areas that I’d like to work on with the CMO but that’s a command level billet and I’d like to see some more experience on an officer to take it.”

Marius

“Yes sir. Understood.” She said to the captain “If there’s nothing else I shall go back to work sir.”

Ensign Angel

“I don’t want you leaving feeling upset Ensign. I just wanted to tell you how is has to be on a star-ship.” Marius looked at her curiously.

Marius

“I understand captain. And I get it. I really do.” She said.

Ensign Angel.

“Ok then ensign.” Marius nodded at her. “Oh, by the way, I hear that your brother has come aboard. Did you have a little family reunion?” He questioned it was always a little risky bringing up family relations. You never knew the background history and they very easily could be estranged.

“Sir. My brother? When did he come on board. I haven’t seen him since I joined. After the fact he found out I joined on board I believe he joined. But a family reunion sir?l” she said and then kind of questioned as she wasn’t aware that her brother was on board.

Ensign Angel

That seemed odd to him. “Yes, an officers transfer information is personal and privileged, but our crew roster isn’t. So can couldn’t tell you he was coming, but I can tell you that he’s here.” He paused as he looked at her. “He’s chief of science. He didn’t tell you he was coming.”

Marius

“No captain he never did. All I knew and remembered was that he was at the academy. I left the academy way before him. Sir.” As she was wondering what was going on.

Ensign Angel

Marius raised an eyebrow in a characteristic Vulcan fashion. “It would appear that you two don’t talk that much. But it’s very rare that siblings serve on the same ship.” The Fleet didn’t like the possibility of nepotism and just in case the ship was destroyed they didn’t like sending parents two or more ‘with deep condolences’ letters. Of course they had to send out many of those during the Dominion War but… that wasn’t because one ship was destroyed. There were times that whole fleets were devastated.

“You might want to take this opportunity to speak to him.”

Marius

“Yes sir of course I will do that sir. Anything else before I uh go and see my brother?” She said as she was still confused and surprised about it.

Ensign Angel

“Nothing… thank you Ensign.”

Marius

“Alright captain. I’ll go and see my big brother even though we don’t ever talk.” She replied back and then walked away.

Ensign Angel
