Two people entered the room and brought some food with them. “It has been quite a while since we have met. Perhaps we could use some nourishment?” Mean said.

GM

Reia took out her tricorder and began to scan the food with relation to the physiology of her and her companions.

“Thank you, that’s most appreciated.”

  • Reia

The tricorder showed that the food was suitable for most Federation races.

“Could you tell us what it is?” Thomas asked, hoping he could get through the explanation without his stomach rumbling. It had been several hours since a rather unsatisfying lunch for him, after all.

COS

“We have brought about bread stuffed with meats and vegetables,” said Menn.

According to the tricorder, the bread was made with a grain that was very similar to wheat, and the stuffing was made up of meat that was very much similar to chicken. The vegetable part were some root of a plant and the leaves of the same type of plant, similar to onions and scallion.

GM

Reia put the tricorder away, smiled, and helped herself. Due to her higher than average metabolism she was actually quite hungry.

Thomas gave a small grin, before taking a hot pocket for himself. This was the second straight mission where he’d been able to sample alien cuisine, certainly more than he’d ever expected before taking a ship-board post.

It definitely tasted good, and was warm. “Is this a good example of the kinds of things your people eat?” he asked. A culture’s dietary habits said a lot about them, after all. This meal at least indicated that the preparing species were omnivorous.

COS

Ben smiled as he took a bite with his eyes closed to fully experience the deliciousness of the bread with stuffed meat and vegetables. After the initial bite, it reminded him of home.

Bump

=^=Genesis to away team.=^= came a hesitant nervous voice, =^=Status report.=^=

  • NE Twonk

“This is a usual snack for our people on this continent,” explained Menn, “The other continents have food that are particular to their region.”

GM

“Of course,” Thomas nodded. “It’s much the same on our homeworld, various areas have foods that they produce more easily than another, and they incorporate them into dishes that become a signature for that region. My ancestors turned moss into alcohol and found a way to use almost every last bit of one of our livestock animals for food,” he offered.

“Moss?” remarked Menn. “We aren’t able to find moss in adequate quantities to economically use as food. Of course, we are not sure what food there are in the other continents as the other two continents seem to prefer to keep to themselves.”

“Well, my homeland is farther north in latitude on my homeworld than your continent is on this world. It’s also very damp and rocky, conditions that moss rather likes. Do you have alcohol?” Thomas asked. “Not that I’m asking for a sample, mind you, I’m on duty,” he hastily added, holding up his hands. “I’m just interested in the process.”

“We do have alcohol,” replied Menn, “however, we do have regulations here when we can imbibe alcohol.”

GM

Interestingly enough Ben was curious about the alcohol process.

Park

“Sensible,” Thomas replied. “What’s it made of, if not moss?” he asked, trying to maintain an air of calm indifference, even as he was getting more nervous the longer it took to apparently arrange transportation to the launch site. Honestly, Menn had arrived in a convoy of vehicles, why couldn’t they just take those there?

OOC: Actually, the away team said that they would contact the Genesis before they moved. Menn was waiting for the Starfleet officers to be ready … :)

IC:

“We use milk or the starchy grains that we cultivate,” repaid Menn in reference to the alcohol.

Reia stood and glanced around for the exit.

“I’ll return shortly.” she said slipping out the door.

She was under no allusion that she wasn’t being watched and, if she wasn’t, she should have been. Sighing, she commed the Genesis and gave them a full status report ending with how they were now having snacks while waiting to be handed off to somebody further up the food chain. She also uploaded all the data they had acquired thus far.

=^=Now what happened with you? I tried to reach you earlier, but nothing.=^=

-Reia, CIO/Comms

=^=We were dealing with a difficult race called the Lescoo. They say the Messi belong to them and were trying to get us to leave.=^= Tom replied to Reia.

  • Tom, IntSec

COS

Reia didn’t recognize the voice of the person she was talking to but the ship was large.

=^=And how did you deal with them?=^= she asked.

  • Reia, CIO/Comms

COS

=^=We are going to enforce a .25 light year exclusion zone around the Messi system until we conclude things with them. We’ll figure out where this goes after that.=^= Tom replied.

  • Tom, IntSec

Reia knew she would have to learn more once they returned.

=^=Acknowledged. Unless there are anymore orders for us I should probably return.=^=

  • Reia, CIO/Comms

COS

=^=Don’t give away the homeworld.=^= Tom responded, =^=Genesis out.=^=

  • Tom, IntSec

Reia shook her head and wrinkled up her nose.

What the hell was he thinking? she wondered.

Sighing, she stepped back into the room with Thomas and Ben.

  • Reia, CIO/Comms

Menn saw the rest of the away team move back into the room and he stood up and said, “Are you able to set off to the launch site? If you can have some refreshment before we leave, it would be helpful as we do have quite a lot of ground to cover.”

GM

Ben nodded at Menn “if you have water, that’ll be great.” Ben grabbed his pack in his left hand “Mr. Menn how long are we traveling to the site from our current location?”
