Tom strode onto the bridge and took the center seat.

“Helm, take us back to the Messi home world. “Comms, send a message over subspace to Star Fleet requesting a diplomatic team to the same world and see if you can get us in contact with the away team.”.

  • Tom, IntSec

NE Twonk turned to the comms station.

=^=Genesis to away team.=^= he said, his voice hesitant nervous, =^=Status report.=^=

  • NE Twonk

NE Rudder quietly activated his comm badgh and spoke low in the hopes that Tom couldn’t hear him.

“Rudder to Captain Marius, there’s an Internal Security officer on the bridge trying to give us orders.”

  • NE Rudder (helm)

=^=Hello Ensign, check the crew roster and the holophotos. Mr. Jarvis, has been assigned to us twice now.=^= Marius was actually happy that someone reported the very forgettable officer. The crew roster wouldn’t be erased from memory… the order he gave might be forgotten but second hand recorded information would last as long as normally gained information.

Marius retapped his badge, “Mr Jarvis, knowing your own situation in a way, others are unlike to remember its incumbent on you to identify yourself to the crew you order. You can’t let them go into situations blind.=^=

Marius.

Tom was starring at the back of the helmsman’s head.

=^=Aye sir.=^= Tom responded.

“I am Lieutenant Commander… Lieutenant Jarvis, Internal Security. By the authority of Captain Marius, I am currently in command of the bridge. Now Mister Rudder, follow the given orders.”

“Aye sir.” NE Rudder hesitantly replied as he set course and engaged.

  • Tom, IntSec (et al)

The Genesis reached the Messi system in merely minutes.

GM

=^=Jarvis to Magnus. We have arrived back in the Messi system.=^=

“Mr Rudder, enter standard orbit.”

  • Tom, IntSec

The tactical station immediately located the away team on the planet.

GM

Moments later.

=^=Jarvis to Captain Marius. We have arrived at the planet and are in standard orbit. The away team is on scanners.=^=

  • Tom, IntSec

OOC: Captain Magnus… has there been a mutiny??

=^=What is the tactical situation Lieutenant?=^= Marius responded from the Conference room. He had not departed it in the 30 minutes. =^=Perhaps they have some good news for a change.=^=

Marius.

=^=One moment and I will inquire.=^= Tom replied.

  • Tom, IntSec

It wasn’t long till Tom was back with the answer.

=^=Lieutenant Shandy says they’re moving to a site 5 hours ground travel time rom their current location and will advise en route.=^= Tom commed Marius.

  • Tom, IntSec

=^=Jarvis get me a full scan and a report on where they are and what they are doing?=^= The could be in danger for all they knew and who ever had them needed time to hide their crimes.

Marius

Tom gave his attention back to the room and when he spoke it was with the tone of someone who’s had experience with beining command.

“Tactical, analysis of capabilities. How and where their military and security forces are deployed and armaments used.”

“Science, I need topological data on the area a ground vehicle could potentially cover based on traffic flow patterns, direction, and speed.”

=^=Transporters, keep an active lock on the party and be ready to beam at notice.=^=

Tom scrolled through the data and relayed his predictions to the Captain.

=^=Captain. Extrapolating vehicle types, speeds, distances, traffic flow, geography, and time, my two best guesses are that they’re either going to a beach or going to the research and launch station for their warp tests. Under the circumstances, I think I can confidently rule out the beach. Scanners are locked on to them and transporters are standing by. Tactical should have overlays ready any moment.=^=

  • Tom, IntSec

OOC: Will the departments sim the retrieval of data, or should the GM just use NEs.

GM

OOC: Department heads review it,

Luke

NE Nameless, =^=Data coming into your stations. Please report to the bridge. Thank You.=^=

Nameless

Magnus entered the bridge after meeting with some of the ship’s Tactical officers and putting up a few ideas, he went to the Tactical station, relieving the NE there “Don’t mind me, lieutenant, I’ll be manning Tactical for a little while” He said as he started the analyses Jarvis had ordered.

XO

Tom nodded.

“Much appreciated Commander.”

Dagen had not been privy to what was going on with the mission. It was not affecting engineering or the ship so he was doing his daily things. At least until he got the notice to ensure a transporter lock on the away team.

=^= Bridge this is Engineering. Heading to the transporter room now. =^=

“Kalos, Deeg, with me,” he said, heading out with them.

OOC: I know Mason is on LOA but just prepping for his return. .. Gene

=^=Copy that.=^= Tom commed.

  • Tom, IntSec

“Preparing overlays” Magnus said as he tapped the familiar screen of the tactical stations. It only took a few moments to get acquainted with the set up despite not having touched one in some years.

XO

Tom leaned forward as the tactical overlays spread across the main view screen. He was analyzing the information presented there. So far there was no threat in the vicinity that the Genesis couldn’t handle but, as an old saying goes, even a tiny insect can be dangerous in large numbers.

“Excellent layout Commander. We should see threats coming in plenty of time to prepare our defense.”

  • Tom, IntSec

As far as the long range sensors were able to see, the Lesscoo ships were not moving out from their system. However the spy satellites that they had deployed were still sending data.

GM

Tom looked at the overlays seeing the active satellites.

“Commander, we need to either jam or deactivate those satellites the Lescoo have left in orbit.” he directed to Magnus as he was currently at tactical.

  • Tom, IntSec

Some time passed and the sensors were able to detect the ship on the planet starting their test. The ship finally reached above the atmosphere and started their warp engines. At the direction away from the Lesscoo system, the ship lurched forward reaching light speed or warp factor 1.

GM

Tom watched the ship clear the atmosphere.

“Monitor that ship in case they need help.” Tom said to no-one in particular figuring tactical would monitor telemetry, comms would monitor communications, and science/ops would monitor energy readings and life signs.

  • Tom, IntSec

Marius decided that the Lieutenants had enough fun managing the situation and since he still hadn’t really been ratified with what was going on, on the planet he would have to put his hand more directly on the tiller. The turbo lift seemed to shush open with more authority when he arrived. “Report?” He questioned and she marched the circular path to the captain’s chair. A seat that he simply stood next to at first.

Marius CO

Tom stood up from the chair.

“Sir. We have eyes on the situation with the team, the Messi, the Lescoo, and the test ship. We are currently jamming the Lescoo satellites. The team is at the Messi launch site with transporters locked on. The Messi test ship is at warp one and we are ready to render aid if necessary. Shields are up and defenses are online. Long range scans are active and watching for potential threats. Communication frequencies are being monitored. Data packets are being spooled for review and eventual delivery to Star Fleet Command and Star Fleet Intelligence via sub-space carrier wave.”

  • Tom, IntSec

“Seems like you have everything covered.” He turned and plopped himself down in the Captain’s chair. “I guess all I need is a cup of coffee and a magazine to read.”

Marius. CO

Vanessa had walked in half a step behind the Captain and moved to her chair on the bridge. Hearing him call out for coffee, she mentally debated about the pros and cons of offering him the one in her hand. She hadn’t drank any yet and it was made in an acceptable fashion for him to consume however the obvious problem presented itself: She didn’t know him well enough to share anything of hers yet even though she had been on the ship several months now. Pretending as if she did not hear his request, Vanessa made herself comfortable and waited for an appraisal of the situation.

Vanessa Slade CNS

Tom nodded and stepped away. He was gone from the bridge for about seven minutes, plenty of time for people to forget he was even there, much less in temporary command.

Stepping up beside the Captain’s chair he held a tray out to Marius with a copy of his favorite magazine and a cup of coffee made according to how Marius most commonly ordered it.

“Your coffee and magazine sir.”

To Tom it was a bit of humor to give the Captain what he asked for, even if Marius wasn’t serious and likely wouldn’t remember having mentioned them.

  • Tom, IntSec

The space ship stopped slightly more than five minutes. It reached about 90 million kilometres from its previous location. There was no time distortion because of the stable warp field. It fired its smaller propulsion engines to turn the ship around. Then it went into warp again and returned to 500 kilometres from its original position after emerging from warp about 5 minutes later. Then it used its smaller propulsion engines to prepare to descend into the planet’s atmosphere. As soon as it started to descend, a frigate from the Lesscoo system began to move towards the Messi system.
