“If we’re going to use the Genesis as ‘neutral ground’ I suggest limiting access to the conference room only. I recommend using transporters but, if the shuttle is to be utilized for transport back and forth then only the corridors necessary between the shuttle bay and conference room should be allowed.” Tom commented.

  • Tom, IntSec

“I would caution against using transporters with a newly-spacefaring race,” Thomas chimed in. “Especially since, technically, only a third of them are warp-capable, and the other two presumably don’t even know about what the third just accomplished. It’ll be stretching the definition of “warp-capable species” just to get the other two representatives on board, exposing them to transporter tech might break it.”

COS

“The Vulcans made first contact with humans when only the United States, one of 300 nations had warp drive, I’d say one in three is more than sufficient.” Marius had also beamed down right in front of them. Unless they thought he was a magician, there was little doubt they knew they had a teleportation system of some sort.

Well why don’t we just cuff them and let Bruno and Guido bag their heads and use the caddy to get them to the ship, Vanessa thought listening to the group already making plans. She had only had the 101 security classes required of all academy cadets so to her this felt like overkill. “Or,” she held up a finger, “we can just pop into their shuttles and let them take us to a low planetary orbit where the Genny can intersect with them and take them on board. You do have ships that can reach orbit right,” Vanessa asked Beth and Menn waiting for them to respond.

Reia angirly wondered why anybody involved with security was blabbering parts of this conversation in front of their hosts. She thought it was incredibly rude but, as far as Beth and Menn knew, Reia was merely a communications officer and she would act the part.

“Children, let’s not turn this into Thanksgiving dinner at the in-laws.” Several words that would be very difficult to ascertain without some sort of human knowledge.

Marius

“Well then let’s not start assigning those without dates regardless of age to the children’s table,” Vanessa smiled sweetly. “Thanksgiving is a human holiday,” she looked at Beth and Menn, “where families sit around a huge meal and share feelings of warmth and thanks for the bounty of the year and celebrate family and relationships. The In-laws are the most revered guests,” she hid her smirk remarkably well. “So should we do the beam us up Scotty thing or just stand around here looking like a Cadet review,” she let her glance drift to Calvin.

Vanessa Slade CNS

Said no one ever, Calvin thought as he heard Vanessa’s comment about In-laws being the most revered guests at a dinner. While his ex-In-laws never were difficult, they were never a walk in the park either.

Tapping his badge, he called up the the Genesis. =/=Commander=/= he paused before giving his order. =/= Lock on my coordinates and beam up the away team along with our two guests. Also prepare to hail the other two nations and the main conference area for possible first contact meeting. Marius out.=/=

Thomas was relieved to be leaving the planet, and hoped he could go a good long while without getting drafted into another first contact mission.

As Ben was transported back to the Genesis, he started feeling ill as soon as he stepped off sick bay?Looking to Calvin “Captain permission to be dismissed to sickbay?”

Park

Reia glanced at ben and wondered if it was something they had eaten.

“So how about the nickel tour,” Vanessa said looking at Beth and Menn. “I can show you the view of a lifetime. Follow me,” she stepped down from the transporter PaDD. “Watch your step. I would hate your first official paperwork with us being a work man’s comp claim.”

Vanessa Slade CNS

“If you don’t mind, I will accompany you.” Reia said.

Ostensibly, this would be a great opportunity to learn about their language if they asked why she was there. It would also give her the chance to observe them in unfamiliar surroundings.

  • Reia, CIO/Comms

“Sure the more the merrier,” Vanessa replied. “We should start with the lounge. It has a great view of the planet and who doesn’t want to see home when you are away from it. I will also give you a chance to meet the crew and see a bit of our technology like replicators.” It was clear Vanessa was in her element with Beth and Menn. She was social and never worried about the details at times when other people might. “After that we could check out the hangar and maybe we could take a quick trip in a shuttle to get a better view of everything.”

Vanessa Slade CNS

“That is how you travel?” Menn commented with a level of wonder. “Was that a matter to energy transport, or was it just movement so fast in a stasis field so we didn’t feel it.” He looked around. “Is it a mini-warp drive system that is projected around you.”

Beth was a little quieter looking around first before responding to the counselor suggestions. “I would like the ‘nikle’ tour.” She responded trying to use the uniquely human term for money.

Tom was just standing off to the side with his head down pinching the bridge of his nose. He wondered if there would at least be a security detail assigned to each diplomat if the tours were to actually happen.

  • Tom, IntSec

Reia realized the security implications of some of the things Vanessa wanted to do so it was a good thing she had decided to insert herself into this tour after all.

“That sounds like a lovely tour Counselor but, let’s not overwhelm our guests too early in what I hope will be a long friendship.”

  • Reia

“They will be fine and we are all good with the overwhelming. Tom is here,” Vanessa nodded off into his direction. While Beth and Menn would not understand, the rest of the crew knew of Tom’s condition and the implications of the one-woman campaign Vanessa took to help him socialize with the crew. The crew had gotten slightly over the weirdness of not remembering any past interaction with the face that seemed to cause a sense of deja vu with some now thanks to Vanessa constantly reminding the crew of what Tom looked like and why they never remembered him based on her notes from interactions she didn’t remember. It was all a bit Trippy as one crewman told Vanessa because for the crew of the Genny it was like reading something in a novel or holozine. They could read about Tom Jarvis but no one had any personal memory of the man making it always seem like he was unreal or at least a partial figment of their imagination since no one could ever really admit they remembered anything about the man that he did not send them in notes to confirm his existence.

This however was going to work the the Genny’s crews advantage. They could show anyone anything and no one would remember it. This meant any First Contact situations were more of a dress rehearsal than anything else with Tom holding the script.

OOC: Okay guys as you might have read our esteemed GM has departed, challenge by that beast RL. I’m going to pick up this mission and try to get it to the finish line. That being said, I don’t do well playing with myself so I’m going to pull Calvin out of the landing party and the team will have to pick it up without him.

“I’d like to see these things,” Mann responded immediately over Reia comment. “Should we be tired after your warp transport?”

Luke/tempGM

“No, it is completely fine. You shouldn’t feel anything since we didn’t lose body parts in the beaming or at least I don’t think so,” Vanessa made a motion of trying to pat herself down looking for all her body parts.

Looking up she saw the joke might not be as funny to the guests. “I’m joking,” she laughed.

Vanessa Slade

Reia nodded and smiled encouragingly at their guests. She could understand why Vanessa’s joke might have fallen a little flat.

“Okay so, where are we starting again?”

  • Reia, CIO/Coms
