After finishing a duty shift on the Bridge, taking a quick sonic shower, and putting on a fresh uniform he made his way to the Genesis’ Lounge. It had been some time since he’d partaken in the social scene on the ship, having been caught up in reports and gym time he hadn’t taken much time off to breathe. He started by making an order at the bar and then finding himself a seat near the viewport. Moments later a server brought him a wineglass with several cubes of ice and a bottle of chilled White Wine from New France. After opening the bottle and pouring a glass the server left the bottle on the table. Magnus took out his notebook he’d started carrying with him everywhere he went because of Lieutenant Jarvis. He took out a pen and started writing in the book, actually writing with his hands, not just typing on a PaDD.

Reia was dressed for date night. She had a feeling Dagen would be along in five or ten minutes or, perhaps, a half hour. He could tell you everything about the warp core and other related engineering topics but, she swore his next present from her was going to be a pocket watch.

As she walked to an intimate table she decided to stop by and say hello tot he XO but was caught by the travesty in his wine glass.

“Commander! I don’t believe it. A man of such intellect and breeding putting ice in wine… Be still my racing heart!”

For dramatic effect she placed her hand over her heart, the upper half of her hand rested on the smooth skin of her chest due to the low cut bodice of her black dress.

  • Reia

Magnus didn’t look up at first, only smiling as he finished writing the last sentence. He put the pen down, grabbed the glass and slowly spun it around, letting the ice clink in the wine before looking up, as always he put on his most charming smile for Reia “That, my dear, just comes to show what little you truly know about enjoying life to its fullest.” He leaned back in his seat, crossed his legs and turned to fully face her

“This is a Marsenne from New France, strong flavor for a White, the cube is a freshly chilled perfect sphere that will hold its consistency throughout the entire bottle only diluting the wine by a small margin which I find enjoyable for this particular vintage. 2388 is a good year for this wine.” He held eye contact as he took a sip of his wine then sighed with pleasure in a dramatic fashion “Perfection” He chuckled “Not to change the subject from my obvious sacrilege but you know you don’t have to dress up just to speak with me” His expression turned into a faux serious one “Honestly, I know I am an absolute treat but you can’t possibly hope to match my dashing good looks and natural charm” He added a wink when his facade broke almost immediately and his grin returned

XO

Reia raised and eyebrow and immediately went into a pout.

“It’s true, you are incredibly charming, very sophisticated, and quick witted but, there is one thing you absolutely don’t have.”

That made Magnus snort with amusement.

Reia stepped forward, raised a hand, and brought it close to his face. Starting from forehead to chin without actually touching him.

“Come and see me when you get some spots then I’ll show you how I really dress up.”

Winking, she straightened up and stepped back.

“Maybe I should try some of that wine, who knows.”

  • Reia

“Hah!” Magnus laughed then waved a hand. One of the bartenders brought an extra glass “Come have a seat Reia.” He poured a glass but did not ask for Ice in her glass “In all seriousness, you look fantastic tonight” He took another sip “Date night?” He asked.

XO

Reia slid intot he chair and smiled.

“Yes, I think so.”

Thor was his saving grace. Prior to joining, Dagen was an absolute horror with timetables and a early, or sometimes even mid morning, class was a challenge. Sure he had little effort in rising to the occasion when it came to his sporting but classes were another matter entirely. Even with two alarm clocks it had been a fight. When he was joined, Thor became his time piece. It was particularly effective when he was sleeping and however it worked out Thor could just send a little ‘jolt’ to his kidneys, a rather effective way to wake him. It was less effective when he was awake already and involved. Such was the case, to his dismay when he was knee deep in deuterium fuel use intermix ratios and Thor’s poke was more like an itch that he had initially ignored. It was only when Angel came to the door to where he and Kowalski were pointing and arguing over numbers. “Commander, is there not somewhere else you should be?” she inquired.
“No, this is the best place to do this,” Dagen replied, distracted.
“Should you not be .. doing, something else at this time?” Angel persisted.
He looked up at Kowalski. ‘Reia’ he mouthed.
“That’s not till .. ” he looked at the chrono on the display. “10 min ago ..”
“I will continue your calculations,” Angel said. Dagen was already out the door ..

.. another 10 min later after a quick change and scattering his uniform all over their bedroom, he raced into the lounge. His ruffled hair was still ruffled and his button up shirt not tucked in. Some thought that looked nice. Occasionally even so from Reia. Dagen had always been a ‘tucker’ and it never seemed to feel or look right with it being out. He came up to a quick halt just inside the lounge door looking for all the world like he was ‘caught’ - which he was! Looking about he easily caught his wife - she was NOT hard to miss in her dresses - talking with the XO. Taking a series of deep breaths to get his ‘breathing’ back to normal and NOT look like he had just sprinted to the lounge which was exactly what he HAD done. “Commander, you look like you are totally out of place with that pen and wine. A patio table somewhere outside.” He didn’t comment on the ice cubes. Whatever worked he thought. “And you, my delight, you look .. amazing.”
- Dagen

Being half Orion, Reia’s sense of smell was better than the average Human’s and she knew her Husband’s scent very well. She smelled that he had been running and, perhaps, felt a bit guilty. Perspiration can say many things, it was a potent chemical cocktail.

“And you look late but adorable. Note I said adorable, not forgiven… Yet.”

  • Reia

Magnus grinned openly at the exchange, a benefit of his position was that he could do so unashamedly “Does that mean you are offering to build me a patio?” He took another slight sip “I’ve always had a fondness for all things analog” He raised his left hand, twisting his wrist to show the mechanical watch attached to his wrist “A notebook is a good way to keep one’s thoughts organized and the act of writing is very calming” He turned the book to face the couple, the script was curved, elegant and not in Federation standard. The collection of commas over some vowels made that clear before anyone read the words. Magnus wrote his notes in Icelandic, anything private he wrote in simple code.

XO

Reia’s eyes lit up.

“A patio! Oh yes, that’s exactly what we need.”

Smiling, she turned back to Magnus. “Some how we had gotten onto the discussion of retirement situations and I think we absolutely must have a patio several decades down the road wherever we end up. Thank you so much for the clever idea.” she said rising her glass in toast.

  • Reia

Magnus raised an eyebrow as he joined the toast “Retirement?” He said with a bemused expression “I hope you two don’t plan to leave me any time soon, with you two gone all the fun gossip disapears”

XO
