After leaving the atmosphere of the planetside Starbase 277 the Armadillo class shuttlecraft entered the blackness of space. Orbiting the planet was the mighty starship that was the shuttle’s destination, the USS Genesis. Named after the Conestoga class battlecarrier from Earth’s early 22nd century Colonial Civil War, the Genesis was one of the mighty long range explorers constructed for long range autotomy in the spirit of Galaxy and Sovereign class starships. Indeed, the titanic saucer that dominated the hull was near identical to that of the Galaxy and Nebula class starships save that it was rounder and less oblong than the saucers on those vessels. The cigar shaped stardrive section underneath was connected to the saucer with a wide angled neck, and jutting out of the secondary hull both port and starboard were the two pylons that ran flat before gracefully curving up to hold the nacelles that remained underneath the altitude of the saucer

Counselor Lydia Ayeka had never served aboard a Manhattan class starship before. Indeed, she had never served aboard any starship before, unless one counted the Constellation class training vessel she had spent much of the last six months on. As an ensign freshly graduated from Starfleet Academy, she had not served on any starship before. She was, in one officer’s unkind and politically incorrect assessment, as green as an Orion slave girl.

The comparison between Ayeka and a holodeck Orion slave girl did not end there. Her face and figure seemed more appropriate for an advertisement to visit Risa or Wrigley’s Pleasure Planet than a recruiting poster for Starfleet officers. Ayeka’s skin wasn’t green, but was a pale, slightly pinkish color indicating that her ancestors had lived close to the poles of their home planets. As a matter of fact, her purple hair was as rare amongst Risans as red hair was amongst Terrans. Only the cleft in her chin told the shuttlecraft pilot sitting near her that she was flesh and blood and not a doll or a hologram.

“Is that the Genesis?” she asked with the voice and the enthusiasm of a small child.

“Why yes, now that we are closer you can see the number on the hull, NCC 85101-B,” the Bolian pilot replied.

“It looks so big!” she chirped in a childlike voice that instinctively reminded the pilot of the poorly programed pornographic holosuite he had visited during liberty at Deep Space Nine.

“Well the saucer is 350 meters in diameter and the stardrive section is 150 meters wide,” the pilot replied conversationally. “Even the decks that make up its neck are 75 meters wide. So I guess you could say it’s mighty big.”

“I was supposed to be assigned to the USS Aries,” the lavender haired girl explained to the cerulean skinned pilot, “but the Genesis suddenly had an opening and I was transferred at the last minute. Compared to a Renaissance class, that thing is HUGE!”

The pilot winced at her exclamation, for her high pitched birdlike voice was piercing. He hoped that any patients assigned to the Genesis’ new counselor didn’t have sensitive hearing, or counseling sessions with Ayeka would be counterproductive.

“Well, as a larger vessel, it has more amenities,” the pilot replied. “There are more perks and luxuries. Some have described serving aboard an explorer to be like travelling aboard a cruise ship. They even allow officers to take their families with them.”

“Oh yes, families, no wonder they needed a ship’s counselor in such a hurry. They must need someone to talk to all of the children.”

“Yes Counselor, the children,” the pilot agreed weakly. With that voice, she would fit right in with the children, he thought silently.

Counselor Lydia Ayeka, whose player is a frickin’ noob who is too cowardly to introduce her in the After Mission Party Scene and wrote a longwinded solo scene instead

OOC: I liked it. Luke
