Main Sim - Starfleet Academy - Commandant Bradbury's Office

“Hello!” said Glen, “Captain John Glen! Pleased to meet you.”

Bradbury was a portly man as he tugged up and closed his uniform jacket, his voice though old and grumpy before turned more deeper baritone chipper “..Ah Captain good to meet you.” Bradbury said gesturing for him to take a seat. The man was in his late 50s maybe early 60s in years, with thinning grey hair and a deep receding hair line. “..I’ve read up on your crew’s planned lessons I think they’ll be inspiring for the Cadets of 2301.

“Thanks! We hope so too, though it was done at short notice and cobbled together very quickly. We are not very experienced at public speaking either, but I find that if you are knowledgeable and interested in the subject, then the words come more easily. I have to say that it is quite an inspiring idea itself. There was nothing like that when I was a cadet… back in the late eighties.”

”..Tell me about it! Sure would have been nice back in the late 60s too, ah but they were different times and I had more hair and less weight!” He chortled hearty. “..Can I get you anything to eat or drink Captain? I had a small inquiry I wanted to pass to your attention while you were here.” He said.

“Well, generally, I’d politely say ‘no thank you’,” replied Glen. “However, since I am to all intents and purposes, on leave, and also I did spy that bottle of 18 year Aldeberan Whiskey on the shelf right behind you there… So, I’m not going to say no!”

“What is this small inquiry you would like me to help with?” asked Glen.

Glen was on leave; and not very enthusiastic about a mission of enquiry of any kind, but he couldn’t, very well, tell Admiral Bradbury that. I hoped that whatever the Admiral thought was a problem, was not something deep and insurmountable.

Glen looked up at the ceiling.

Glen looked down at his shoes.

Glen looked at the clock on the wall. He would have to skip the visit to see Red Squad. The time for the first lecture was quickly approaching.

Bradbury’s maladaptive daydreaming was a little concerning to Glen. With the time while he already waited at the door to come in, this was now the second time that the Admiral had phased out. Not only was Glen getting a little thirsty for that Aldeberan Whiskey, but he was genuinely worried about the Admiral’s mental health, given his age. It could even be evidence of a seizure, or the kind of dissociative disorder that followed a very traumatic event. Glen didn’t feel it was his place to draw attention to it, but he would certainly follow it up with Miriam Cross later.

Instead, Glen just coughed loudly, and said, “ADMIRAL? …Is everything okay?”
